This is my first time to come to Le Moment. I found it on open rice and booked a table for my gf's birthday dinner. We ordered a steak and salmon which were great. But the dishes won't be complete without adding the scallop with wild mushroom & black truffle, and French Foie Gras. Really worth the price to add it into your dish. The tomato soup is also a highlight that u may want a second round. The salad is good and the sauce is a perfect match. Highly recommended. Around $400 per person and wo

Ok, like many Hong kongers we were drawn to le vache's steak and fries! Lost track of how many times we have been there for a steak fix. However I will admit quality of meat has gone down hill (lots of tendons, fat etc). Anyway, tonight we decided try 'le moment' guy next door who seemed very passionate about his steak.

A dinner set was $288+ (similar to levache) - included salad, soup, and main. Salad was so-so. Tomato soup was really delicious - came with lightly toasted bread.

The steak was the highlight. We ordered Medium rare -- it was Soo juicy, tender (no tendons whatsoever)... Surprisingly (or not) much better than le Vache. I'd probably prefer Fries than mash potato though.

They also have a great selection of beer and wine. Tried the red which was very good.

It's a relatively small cosy restaurant, and with a lot of character from Bob! He's really passionate about his food and wine. Hope more patrons will support le moment!

My partner and I had wanted to go to La Vache but as we were waiting outside for a free table we were lured into Le Moment with the promise of amazing food and not having to pay if we didn't like it. Well we weren't disappointed....the succinct menu looked immensely enticing but we both went for the steak. It came as part of a set menu with a fresh salmon Caesar salad and one of the tastiest tomato soups we've ever had. Then the piece de resistance arrived an amazing steak cooked to perfection

Yes the place is small and probably very different to anything you might experience in Hong Kong but the rustic charm, engaging and amusing owner along with the love care and attention the guys give to the food makes up for it. I would definitely recommend you all go!

Disappointed about this restaurant as technically speaking, i would not call this a restaurant, the most i can regard this as a cafe as it does not have a proper kitchen. so the food available is very simple and offer very little choiceit only has a hot plate to fry whatever the main course you order. the salad and soup was ok, quite standard and not really tasty. main course is also disappointed, i ordered steak, kind of warm, the colour of the meat (the redness inside) was not appealing, my fr

no need to mention about the wine as it is very subjective but i think the wine is way over priced.  the white wine the boss offered us was from $480 - 880, which i think from this kind of bar/cafe is too much.

Can't believe, order wine before 7:30pm (happy hours), only $340per bottle!!!!There were 4 bottles to choose from, don't know what are they but the owner talk about each bottle character...obviously I can never remember. The owner let us kept the wines and served us one by one and pair each courses with these wines, I just remember the first one is pinot noir, all taste great great!!!!

The starter was Smoked Salmon Cesar Salad and Tomato Soup, the soup was cremy, smooth & thick and taste amazing!

I got duck breast from France, others got ribeye steak, salmon, spanish pork, all very juicy, we only wish the duck breast and steak can be smaller... they were 'oversize'!!!

Sorry no food pic, I only took the last drop of my nearly licked bowel! I guess not only because the food taste soooo great that I forgot to take pic, also we were too excited to talk someone's gossips, please forgive me!


Too full...eventually we just got a "melted heart"
chocolate cake with Expresso, the owner said beer to match would be the best & also claimed he will drink & pay for it if we don't like it…. Well, why not then? So we tried, it was not cheap, about $150 per beer!!!!!! Actually I was thinking wtf.......it was.....Amazing!!!! That beer was s...u...p...e....r....rich!!!!! Taste like Tons of chocolate & some whisky type of feeling, works with the espresso chocolate cake vvvvv well!

Let's start off with the positives:

The bad:
On our third visit is where it went horribly wrong. The steak was cold, the pork was cold, do I need to say more? The desserts were good however.

Now the service:
We booked the table 2 weeks in advance for a big party as we gathered more friends as the first 2 times were so good, but when we turned up he expected half the party to sit outside? Not only that but he put 7 of us on a small table that was even small for 4 people. Obviously we weren't too pleased but to make matters worse the owner said out loudly that the restaurant was small and he couldn't do anything about it and since we were bringing our own wine which he ok'd over the phone when we booked(it is also advertised as ok on this site), he literally shamed us in front of the whole place saying if you bring your own wine normally we would not have even got a table on a Saturday? Oh pur-lease, we would have preferred it if you did not take the booking there are plenty of other places we could have given the business to. Even the other guests looked shocked at such a cheap shot, they did not look too pleased with the service either. Half our party left and needless to say we will not be going back.

After the meal we were promptly forced outside before finishing our drinks as there was another table waiting and witnessed him being rude to them who were waiting. Basically they got told off for complaining whilst they were addressed by the boss as "brothers" - very professional. I scoured the reviews for this restaurant after the latest experience and I see that we are not the only ones to have received such treatment. I cannot see this place lasting too long if this behaviour continues.

We have a friend from London, and we don’t want to wait an hour for the La Vache, so we decided to give it a try and I think we have made a perfect decision!

We have four people and ordered two Augus Rib-eye Steak ($268) and two Duck Breast ($288) set dinner. The set came with Smoke Salmon Cesar Salad, and the Daily Bisque was a smooth & creamy tomato soup.

To my surprise, not only the steak portion is huge, the steak was made perfect. Both steak and duck breast were in media rare and every bite was succulent, full of flavor. (We were too excited and forget to take photos!)

They have an excellent list of wines, a wide variety of boutique wines that most restaurants do not carry. Wine pairing is important, and the boss certainly own a great deal of knowledge in this aspect. Unlike other restaurant just giving you a wine list to choose from, the boss would try to understand our preference first, and then actually placed several bottles in a line and presented to us one by one. We chose the very left one - G.D. Vajra ($680), and the balance wood and juicy finish was just perfect match with our steak and duck breast.

Lastly the service here was superb ...absolutely outstanding. We can even choose our favorite music with the boss took out his guitar and play along! The prices are a little high but you are paying for the atmosphere and a nice steak. If you are looking for an awesome steak then this is.

Book枱時老闆已問我地食normal set 定x'mas set。 原本我地都想試x'mas set, 真係好抵食,四百幾蚊有餐前飲品(可以揀rum、apple cider 或者herbal tea) + 4 款starters + soup, 我地估未食main dish已經飽了,最後仲包埋甜品同tea。過左兩日假期食得太多,最後我地都係揀左normal set。x'mas set 要留返出年先試😋由starter, soup, main dish 到甜品, 每樣都非常足料而好味,以呢個價錢和質素,出面好難找到👍👍 如果鍾意飲酒的,老闆同我地講酒一定要配啱食物,仲分享左好多酒的知識比我地👍

We stopped by le moment for a quick drink while we were waiting for our table at another venue. My friend wanted wine so thought this would be the perfect place to visit. I did not want an alcoholic drink, nor do i drink tea or coffee fyi, we got there and were seated outside quickly. I asked the boss for a menu as i wanted a juice to which he replied there was none with an attitude. He was persistent and it got to the point where we were so uncomfortable we just wanted to leave. He was persistent and it got to the point where we were so uncomfortable we just wanted to leave. He proceeded to raise his voice and mentioned that as a bar owner needing to pay rent he was annoyed and made this apparent. I told him that i would happily pay for a bottle of water! but i didn't want anymore agro from him I quickly said i would just have what my friend was having to leave us alone. we found the boss extremely pushy, rude and arrogant and with an empty bar we were not surprised. We won't be back.

My friend G picked this place to have her birthday dinner. Seeing the reviews of the restaurant, I knew it was gonna be an interesting experience. No more than 20 people could be seated at a time, as it is quite a small place. 2 of us had arrived first, and there weren't any people in the restaurant, which meant it was only us vs. the host/Sommelier, who just kept on talking and talking and talking. He wasn't pressuring us to try their wine, but he did talk lots about it. He was definitely very passionate about what he does, which is good I think. 
 

Then, when our friend finally arrived. The wine lover explained to us what was unique about each one of their dishes. The 3 of us each got a dinner set. Since none of us are big drinkers, we didn't order any wine. After a very long and detailed description, we made a choice. I tend to order fish or steak when I'm out so I opted for the salmon, when buddy J chose the steak. 
 Then, the birthday girl chose the pork rack, since we were told Iowa has the best damn pork in the world. 
 Each set consists of a salad, soup and main; add $40 for a dessert if you wish. 

Here is what we got:
1. Smoked Salmon Caesar Salad  Do you find that smoked salmon and caesar salads are 2 dishes that pretty much taste the same no matter which restaurant you go to? This is what I think. Nothing too special, but at least I got some greens for the day.

2. Bread & Daily Bisque: Tomato  This was a very cheesy and fresh tomato bisque. 
 We all quite liked it, but it was rather salty and, we weren't a big fan of the parsley. 
 The texture of the soup was interesting, which can be noticed from the picture. The bread was very crunchy, so it was a nice contrast when dipped into the soup.

3. Grilled Norwegian Salmon Fillet w/ Capers Creme Reduction ($258)  My little piece of salmon laid quietly beside a bed of potatoes. The potates were creamy, but once again everything was seasoned too heavily, as everything was so salty. 
 The capers creme reduction was different, but not bad. My salmon was good, but it was a little overcooked and it was so tiny. Since it was such a thin piece, it was probably cooked once it hit the pan. 
 I was surprised that it was overcooked though, since the dude gave us a long speech on them never overcooking their food. Ha.

4. Grilled US Angus Rib-Eye Steak w/ Cabernet Reduction ($268) The sides were also mashed potatoes with veggies for the steak. Our table faced La Vache, so as we were trying this steak, we couldn't help but to compare the 2 steaks of these 2 different restaurants. We all thought that the one across the street was better. Sorry, didn't mean to compare... 
The cabernet reduction tasted like regualr gravy to me, which is something you also never get to have in Hong Kong, so that was a nice change.

5. Grilled Iowa Berkshire Pork Rack w/ Wild Mushroom Creme ($278) This was one big, thick and fat piece of pork! The meat had some fat to it, and it was still a little pink, so the pork was very tender. I was glad that it didn't have that "pork" taste. 
 The dish had the best sauce in our opinion; the wine and mushroom were wonderful together.

6. Dessert (+$40) Apple Crumble The reason why my friend chose this place was because of their pear crumble. Unfortunately, it was sold out along with some other desserts, so we chose the apple crumble. We were disappointed, but soon after, this became the highlight of the night. 
 It was probably one of the best apple crumbled I have had in my life! The topping was warm and crunchy, then the apples were a nice balance of sweetness and acidity. All together with the ice cream, we finished this dessert in minutes. Also, after such a salty main, this sweetness was needed to soothe the tongue.

Everything came rather slow, as the chef had to finish all the mains ordered at the restaurant before the dessert could be made. We were there for almost 3 hours. I know fine dining is a slow process, but we really didn't have the patience that night.

Final Verdict:
I'm not one that likes to social too much while I'm eating. I like my personal space, so when the host/ sommelier kept talking, it was just a little too much. We were lucky that a eally large and troublesome table came, so that he spent most of his time attending to them. However, his service was good, as you could really feel his passion. If you like wine, I would suggest this place since "they don't sell what supermarkets and places do", and I'm sure you could have a great chat with the sommelier.
 
题外话/补充资料: You might get some surprises from the sommelier... :)

看到鄰枱點的rib eye steak 仲大份亦很吸引。
吃完main course 酒還剩1/3杯,老闆很貼心主動換了chilled 既杯同用熟練既手勢轉酒杯,即時好飲返亦把它喝完。
甜品時間,要了一份跟餐的 "熱cheese cake"(熱果下幾特別但味道當然冇凍既芝士味咁出)

最後選了9% alc US beer($88)。先呷一口完全勁dry(冇lasting味道直接好快衝到係喉嚨度勁乾)近乎難飲既beer竟然跟甜品很搭,跟剛才完全是兩回事,變得順口好飲!老闆的主動貼心為我們這些六神無主的品酒白痴省卻很多煩惱,亦讓我的舌頭上了寶貴的一課!能夠沉醉於美酒佳餚下,懵懂的過三小時醉生夢醒的人生,也是一種不錯的生活享受!

Without a doubt, what we discovered were the best desserts we have had in Hong Kong for a very long time.  There is a good amount of choices for all types of desserts (e.g.: coffee, chocolate, cheese), so it is impossible for you not to find something that will excite your taste buds.  Just as a side note and warning: the shop owner is P-A-S-S-I-O-N-A-T-E about wines.  So if you don't fancy a glass of wine with your desserts, be ready to have to say "no thanks" and smile politely (or not) ten thousand times.  If you do fancy a glass of wine however, he will share his passion and make you discover nice secret gems whlie explaining what you drink in great detail.

Noddy: 勁大pat cream下面係流心朱古力蛋糕,非常聰明地用碗裝住解決咗平時d朱古力流心流到成碟都係嘅問題,食到尾可以用羹"畢"埋入口,唔洗o徙!
旁邊的especial coffee食之前倒埋入去! 嘩!! 內外都"流心"嘅流心朱古力蛋糕呀!!
cream+cake+especial+朱古力的味道非常複雜飽滿,朱古力味亦超濃!! 勁正!!

Gui: WoW, this one is creative and delicious.  You get some whip cream and chocolate cake, with a shot of expresso that you pour yourself on top.  I love it for its creativity, mixture of diary, chocolate and coffee, and very fresh sensation.  Strongly recommended choice!

Noddy: 老闆話所有dessert都係落order即做的,呢個cheesecake 非常熱辣辣!! 味道有d似日本的chessecake, 芝士味濃而不漏! 最正係個texture, 超fluffy!! 有d似souffle嘅口感!一個人食兩個都ok!!

Gui: In other restaurants, I often skip ordering cheesecake despite being one of my favourite desserts simply because it's often plain and boringly tastes the same regardless of where you are in the world.  At Le Moment, they make it with white chocolate and bake it to roast the top.  Be careful it's boiling when served but how surprisingly creative and unique!  Of course, they still keep atraditional touch by serving delicious raspberry jam on the side.  I simply love it!  You cannot leave Le Moment without trying one.

Noddy: 有係熱辣辣的,食得出係新鮮梨做的,不過朱古力有d太搶味,crumble亦好多,個人不太喜歡咁乾身的甜品

Gui: This was the dissapointing one, but it may due to the fact that the other ones were so yummy and creative that this felt too "normal" in comparison.  Although its name "Baked Pear Chocolate Crumble" suggests that there are pears as ingredient, you can barely taste them.  It may be overpowered by the chocolate.  All in all, it is not a bad dessert but simply not spectacular like the two previous ones were.  This may be your choice is you are a "safe and traditional" person

總結 conclusion: If you do get the frustration of getting there once or twice and facing a "closed" sign, please give it another try.  This is the best dessert place I've been in months and think it is quite dangerous for my weight that I live nearby!

這位朋友甜品中只吃喜歡 Apple Crumble , 於是小妹向他推薦了 Le Moment最後一次吃到已是兩年多前的舊文了, 今晚有人肉地圖帶路, 小妹就做跟得朋友好了。我們到時大約分八點, 只有兩位客人, 但約半個鐘後已開始女生進場搵甜品食。朋友先為我點了一杯House Wine, 但Fruity感和甜度也非我杯茶。來這裡吃Apple Crumble 是常識, 再來Lemon TartLemon Tart 先來, 檸檬吉士夠酸以甜甜櫻桃醬平衡, 而撻皮則有欠鬆脆。繼而即焗的Apple crumble 放在我們面前, 牛油香是衝著感觀而來的,輕輕的玉桂味沒有蓋過青紅蘋果的風頭, 每一口也是金寳的香脆, 雖然邪惡, 但實在令人欲罷不能, 份量足夠和朋友分享。飲飽食醉後, 怎麼我會依偎在朋友的懷裡 ……
