Patatas Bravas ($50) - 這是一款傳統西班牙tapas,薯仔煮熟後再炸,或會再加上橄欖油、醋、香料等等。Patatas Bravas 應該算是沒什麼難度的一款tapas吧。Tapeo的patatas bravas炸得香口,但好像油了一些。不過我在西班牙吃的也是差不多的油,畢竟也是炸出來的,還想怎麼樣?而且夠香口已經很好吃了。

Sauteed Mushroom w/ Sherry ($48) - 這是普通的炒蘑菇,蘑菇切得大大顆的咬下去有汁,還挺不錯。

Grilled Sardines w/ Romesco sauce ($68) - Romesco sauce是一種西班牙人常吃的醬汁,而sardines也是西班牙或葡萄牙那一帶的人常吃的魚類。沙甸魚燒得非常脆,不怕的話可以連骨頭一起吃,面頭塗了少許橄欖油,所以不會太乾。魚的下面有少許我也不知道是什麼的醬,不過連著魚一起吃,魚的味道就強過了醬的味道。

Razor Clams ($148) - Tapeo 每一天都會有不同的daily special,我去的當晚其中一款是蟶子及risotto,價錢不便宜但當然也不能期望可以給你數隻蟶子,我們就有2隻。賣相很美,有下過心思。蟶子煮得很嫩,risotto頗為creamy亦略有咬口,整道菜較像意式呢。

Scallops ($128) - 另一個daily special是帶子,賣相也很美,在帶子的殼上先放了腸再放2隻帶子。帶子吃的時候熱辣辣而又嫩軟軟的,少許creamy的醬汁配合恰當,只是油好像多了一點但還在可接受的程度,蠻不錯。

這晚一口氣吃了不少的tapas,不過因為我們有4個人而tapas是少份量的伴酒菜,吃罷亦沒有太飽但舌頭卻已經滿足了。而且Tapeo的侍應招呼非常好,肯用心的去解釋菜單之餘亦笑容滿面,沒有理由不再光顧。

哈哈‧哈哈‧哈這就是我來到Tapeo的心情啦~~~ 其實我一直也對西班牙菜情有獨鍾。可惜,在香港可以吃到西班牙菜的地方不多,雖然這一兩年都有多間新的西班牙餐廳,連劉嘉玲都有份,但這些新的餐廳大都挺貴,不是大部分人都負擔得起或者可以常去吃。最慘是貴得來又未必好吃,又或者排隊/訂位等到世界末日也吃不到。Tapeo應該是在香港一間富有很長歷史的西班牙餐廳吧。它在soho也有分店,不過那間好像只有bar 檯,我一行4人不太方便互訴心中情啦,所以就來了西灣河這間。這裡有bar檯,有高檯高椅還有梳化檯。我預先訂了7時的4位,不過以我所見walk-in應該也沒有問題。這裡的面積比我想像的少,並用了半開放式的設計,炎夏時不知會否很熱呢?但我當晚坐的位置在冷氣機的正下面,有點冷。Menu上的選擇蠻多的,而且有很多西班牙的signature dishes,例如Tortilla及Anchovies ,當然還有西班牙火腿。吃的是tapas,所以價錢其實沒有特別便宜。當然,大家是可以來這裡點上一兩杯酒再點上一兩個tapas再去別處吃晚飯。(而且西灣河有很多很值得吃的餐廳!)Manchego Cheese & H

Manchego Cheese & Honey ($55) - manchego cheese是來自於西班牙的一種羊奶芝士,所以味道和平常吃的芝士有點不同,比較濃味一點,不是人人都可以接受。不過這裡的manchego cheese上淋上了比較杰身的蜜糖,所以吃芝士的時候帶有甜味,再放在同樣淋上了蜜糖的脆多士上羊奶的重口味減了不少,非常好吃!

Roasted Pepper Salad ($48) - 物如其名,這就是以不同的椒roast成再加上香料及橄欖油的沙律。綠、紅、橙及黃椒的椒味很重,反而香料的味道沒有吃出來,加上橄欖油但沒有過量,所以不會太油。

Marinated White Anchovies ($58) - 吃 tapas 又怎能沒有anchovies呢?在西班牙吃的叫Boquerones en vinagre,通常由醋或醋加上橄欖油浸,在西班牙南部最普遍。我每次吃anchovies心情都很矛盾,因為知道一定是浸在橄欖油中!這裡的anchovies質素正常,不過不太大條,例如在右2的那條,太細了吧。

Sauteed Prawns w/ Garlic & Paprika ($98) - 這也是另一經典tapas,用上蒜來炒,在西班牙叫作gambas al ajillo。好吧大蝦一共有9隻,把小盤子堆得滿滿的。這蝦夠彈牙但蝦味一般,應不是新鮮蝦,蒜味不太重反而是較為油了一點。

Grilled Squid w/ Herbs & Spices ($68) - 這碟燒魷魚比想像中要大碟,魷魚燒得有咬口但不會韌,herbs和spices的味道比較淡,配上酸酸的檸檬汁,吃時感覺清新,我還蠻喜歡這個。不過,既然是名為 "w/ Herbs & Spices",就應該調味可以重手一點。

以前未食過西班牙菜, 最多都係響食buffet 時食到D parma ham, 所以, 完全無concept 西班牙菜其實係有咩食, 好在, 今晚食既全部都好食炸西班牙火腿球以為會好油膩, 好漏, 但入口好脆, 好香, 沒有多餘油份, 薯蓉同西班牙火腿異常地夾, 又唔會好咸, 西班牙火腿味好出西班牙pizza同一般pizza完全唔同, 餅底唔會好脆口, 煙鴨胸同餅底之間有少少甜既醬汁加波菜, 夾起上嚟又係好好味吞拿魚他他好味, 略賺多士脆得滯醋白鯷魚平時我都有買鯷魚響屋企炒意粉, 超級市場內我買過的都係好咸同好多魚骨, 所以, 食到呢度既醋鯷魚之後, 實在係好驚喜, 酸味剛剛好, 魚肉扎實, 沒有魚骨同魚鯹味, 淨食又得, 同多士一齊食都得香草煎雞扒香草味濃, 皮脆肉嫩, 雞扒底有炒雜菌亦好好味蕃茄汁煮牛肉球佢地既牛肉球係牛肉加牛根攪成, 所以好有咬口, 加上有D牛肉騷味, 好香, 一流

先叫嘢飲再加個Cold Meat Platter同麵包,食住頭盤先,Cold Meat Platter有5款西班牙火腿,味道好醒胃,唯獨Parma Ham 過喊,其餘送暖暖麵包一流。

主菜決定叫兩個牆上special加一個薯仔粒Patatas Bravas,special之一係Sea bass配Gazpacho汁,即鱸魚配凍蕃茄汁,味道充滿驚喜,魚鮮味配上蕃茄甜酸加少許garlic味,簡直喺口中放煙花,大愛!

另一special係矮瓜配羊醉肉加杏仁saffron汁,矮瓜好入味,羊肉唔so,雖然味道無鱸魚咁刺激,不過亦相當有特色。

薯仔粒Patatas Bravas係我哋必叫之選,個辣醬好野味,薯仔夠香脆,正。

最後,再加個Tomato Goat Cheese Salad,亦係我哋最愛,蕃茄香甜,酸酸甜甜配山羊芝士,真係好醒胃。

服務一向好friendly,一食完有人收碟,唔會過份attentive,個個有笑容,有10%服務費亦值得。

只要大家抱住open mind去嘗試,如果唔知份量,先叫兩三個,一路食一路叫,慢慢relax去享受Tapas就明白過中樂趣。Enjoy!

It is the first time we went to Tapeo with a group of friends for a casual dinner and when my friend booked for the table a week ago, we were already 'reminded' that we had to be 'on time' and that we had to return the table at 9pm as they had 2 slots. We were fine with the arrangement given that we had reserved the table at 7:15pm.So, when we arrived, we had been seated relatively quickly without waiting and we ordered a selection of tapas and mains. So, when we arrived, we had been seated relatively quickly without waiting and we ordered a selection of tapas and mains. The food was actually quite good although portions were rather small and some were rather oily and because we had 8ppl so we decided to order a second round of tapas which I think arrived slightly later than 8:30pm.

By around 8:45pm, the waitress already came around and started to take away our plates although clearly, some of the food were not finished and we had to ask her to leave some of the plates as we wanted to finish them. By around 8:55pm, we were almost finished and the waitress quickly gave us the dessert menu....and after 1 min, she came back again to ask if we were going to order any desserts. Then my friend told the waitress that we needed more time to look
at the menu and the waitress immediately gave us a very 'impatient look/stare' and 'straight face' and turned away!


Obviously, we were still chit chatting so didn't really focus on the menu until the waitress came again after another min to the other side of the table and asked again to see if we were going to order any dessert.

At that time, my friends were deciding what to oder and then the waitress suddenly said 'are you going to order or not?? what time is it'?' We were basically shocked and just starred at each other?! We couldn't believe what we heard and my friend quickly said - 'So, do you want us to order or not'? The waitress attitude was unbelievable and she said 'it is 9pm already and we have other customers coming!


Obviously, we were in shock and asked for our bill immediately and when we stood up to leave, we noticed the manager stood by the cashier so asked her if she would accept our suggestions/recommendations. We told her how awful her waitress' attitude was and at first, she seem quite fine to accept our comments but before we could finish our sentence that we were fine to leave if asked or reminded in a nice way, the manager started to say 'you are suppose to leave at 9pm and we told you that'~!!! Yeah, we know we agreed to return your table at 9pm but come on, in this sort of market environment and for the money we paid for that dinner, we expected better service at basic manners and your other 'customers' haven't even arrived the restaurant yet!

We couldn't believe that all of their staff (have to stress that they are all non Chinese) were so horrible and given that this is a high end restaurant located at East Soho, we were quite pissed that we were being treated like this!

Definitely no next time for us!

When I was about twelve years old, my school's German and Spanish teachers each came to my year's class to pitch learning German or Spanish to us.

After entering Form 8, our timetables allowed us to "add" an extra subject... and since we already lived in France, it was German and Spanish that were the languages on offer for our timetable's empty slot.

The German's teacher's presentation focused on how Germany was an important industrial and economic power in the European Union - therefore making German an important language to learn. To a class of impatient, pre-pubescent 12 to 13 year olds, this wasn't exactly the most enticing of reasons.

On the other hand, the Spanish teacher, gave us the best pitch I'd ever heard: "Take my class and we'll go on field trips to eat paella, gazpacho, churros, tortillas and more!". I was sold! Over the next 8 years, I'd learn Spanish and even have the opportunity to visit Spain multiple times on school trips and exchanges.

Fortunately I was in a group of five, including myself - perfect for some tapas tasting. (tip: eating at a tapas restaurant is better in groups; you can try more dishes, as tapas are originally small bar snacks! Share with your friends instead of having one each.)

Manchego Cheese with Honey: this was a hit with everyone at the table! Honey brought a sweet and viscous dimension to cheese and ultra-crispy toasted bread slices on the side. Tapeo's selection of Manchego cheese (made from sheep's milk) was a safe choice being neither very fresh (young / soft / mild taste) or dry (older / hard / strong taste) - but somewhere in between.

Marinated White Anchovies: Usually anchovies bother me whenever they crop up, most commonly, in a Caesar salad. Too often they are overly salty as well as unattractive: dull, dark, shriveled up and small. At Tapeo they looked fresh; brilliant and shiny, bathing in a marinade of olive oil, lemon juice and herbs. Naturally, I was tempted to give it a try. Result? A lesson learned: don't condemn an ingredient by how it's usually prepared. Cured in vinegar (instead of salt) these "White" anchovies had a milder and more elegant flavour complemented by the soothing olive oil and lemon juice. In other words: a seafood tapas success!

Next comes many people's favorite part of any meal: the CARBOHYDRATE part! In Spain, rice and potatoes will be the most common in this department. Since our table was going for a tapas experience, there won't be any paella in this post - but feast your eyes instead, on the potato treats above.

Chorizo and Spinach Tortilla: I instinctively associate tortillas with Mexican or Tex-Mex food, always forgetting that in Spain tortillas are actually an egg-potato hybrid omelette in which you can find any number of special ingredients. It's an interesting texture of foamed egg omelette with slices and chunks of smooth potato... Without any additions, this risks is a potentially boring dish... but add spicy chorizo and streaks of spinach? A lovable stomach-filler!

Patatas Bravas: Being half-Dutch means I love to put mayonnaise on potatoes (and tomatoes, eggs, everything and anything). To complete the patatas bravas was a spicy tomato sauce on the side, mayonnaise, paprika powder and herbs. For this kind of dish, I would have liked a crispier and longer-fried batch of potatoes... So, unless you want to be healthy, you should probably mention to fry it a bit longer for that extra tasty, and oily crunch!

Ham Croquetas: Not exactly something you'd only find at a tapas restaurant, croquettes can be found nearly everywhere from your local pub or tapas snacks to a family restaurant. These tasted like normal, well-made croquettes flavored by the hearty ham bits. Imagine adding a melted cheese centre! Or am I just getting carried away now...?

Chickpeas, Spinach and Bacon: I'm really starting to like this spinach and meat combination that first came up in the tortilla. With the kind of "blank canvas" taste that chickpeas and potatoes offer, the added salty/spicy meat with vegetable to balance it out, transforms all three into a wonderful combined taste! These trio of ingredients are some of my favorites across the board... was this dish destined for me?

Crushed Marinated Olives: Don't expect anything else when you order this! All you're going to get is a big bowl of... well, crushed marinated olives! This dish demonstrates perfectly how eating tapas alone can present difficulties; without at least one friend to help share this with, finishing this entire bowl of olives would be a challenge... no matter how nice they are.

Crispy Shrimps with Chili: If you're hardcore you could eat the shrimp with its shell on because that's how crispy these shrimps were! But if you're not the shrimp terminator, then get ready to get your fingers messy with peeling these insanely tasty shrimp. Once you've de-shelled your shrimp, be sure to dip it into the clump of remaining shrimp gelled together by this amazing creamy chili/herbs/spices sauce. Be prepared to be very sad when you run out of shrimp (and sauce, as you will inevitably dip things into the leftover sauce).

Pan con Tomate: Meaning "bread with tomato", this tapas was, unfortunately, as boring as its name. Whereas a tomato tapenade with its characteristic power, intensity and flavorful essence could have been able to pull off a tostada just on its own; this sauce didn't quite do it. In addition to being a little bit on the bland side (thank goodness for the herbs, though), the tomato sauce was too moist, ruining any of that lovely toasted crunch that the bread might have had.

So, we now come to dessert.

Churros: Churros always look good. But they don't always taste good. You have to get them fresh and just out of the frier in order to get the most out of them! If you can get them fresh (like ours were served at Tapeo Tapas) then indulge in the crispy dough batter that has been deep-fried in oil, and rained on with sugar. You can technically dip it in any sauce, or just use the chocolate one above. Dream you could make this at home to try more sauce options? Yeah, me too...

Custard: I can't remember the name of this one anymore! It was very similar to a creme brûlée, but without the crispy burnt sugar "crust". The lemon-hinted custard cream was lovely but... because it reminded me so much of creme brûlée, I found myself missing that thin crispy layer of melted sugar.

Tapeo Central... vs. Tapeo Sai Wan Ho?
There is a Tapeo branch in Central (which I have not been to... yet) if you're a near-Central dweller... but I doubt it will have the tranquility and comfort of the Sai Wan Ho branch, with its, albeit slightly blocked by passing cars, view of the channel between HK island and Kowloon side. ;) In the evening, however, traffic is calm enough to make the Sai Wan Ho seating quiet enough for HK al fresco dining.

Insider tip? Both my friend Josephine and I ordered the house sangria; except Jo ordered hers without ice. Definitely order this signature Spanish drink with less or no ice to avoid watering down the seasoned and sassy sangria.

再來就係我地既主菜, 友人2款既TAPAS雖然份量好似好少, 但食食下都覺得幾飽...CHILI SHRIMPS經過炸後外皮好脆再加上特別既醬汁包住又幾好味.

而PIZZA亦做得好出色, 有鴨胸肉在面層; 中間就有D菠菜而餅底就有D硬及少脆都幾好味.

至於我既LUNCH SET都算唔錯, 特別係個蕃茄多士真係估唔到有成5片份量非常多而且味道亦好好味, 好香濃既蕃茄蓉醬.

反而個西班牙飯就較為差D, 飯煮得太淋身無咬口.

最後既甜品係我估唔到咁好味既炸麵條配朱古力醬, 其實食到好飽既我都忍不住食左2條.炸麵條新鮮炸起再加上砂糖及肉桂粉咬落非常鬆軟而不油膩, 初時仲怕個朱古力醬會好甜, 點知只有香濃既朱古力味道而不甜, 這一個甜品非常美味.

西班牙式的花甲 = 火腿作配料, 油卻不膩之感, 口感一流。 可能是火腿吸了一些油所以不膩; 花甲才不蓋鮮味

吞拿魚他他 = 味兒一般但賣相不俗, 令人不覺他是他他!!
西班牙式的茄汁牛肉球 = 我只能說肉丸是美味且茄汁有點酸而今人開胃!!

Tapeo Bar De Tapas y Vino is located by the sea in Sai Wan Ho. I thought the food is outstanding until I tried it myself. This tapas bar makes no different with the other rubbish restaurants around the area – looks better than it tastes. It is nothing compare with the one in Central. The rice have no seasoning, and the seafood too. More importantly the seafood was frozen. The seafood was cooked with before the rice and put it back on top. The rice lacked the sauce and no saffron was used, and one last thing, Paella rice was not use for Paella. Great dish.

The mushroom was fresh, rich and delicate. The mushroom was cooked to very nice, great balance with the herbs and garlic. Highly recommended.

If you are not planning to eat Paella, this is not a bad restaurant. But the Paella has totally destroyed my impression for it. In general, this restaurant is nice and relaxing, definitely worth going if you are around the area.

Just had lunch there and was very impressed with both the food and the service.Won't go into details about the decor, table mat menus, etc. as many have already commented on these. We started with the marinated white anchovies and a Russian stylie potato salad (yes at a tapas bar!). Both were the right portions to share and had great flavors. The white anchovies were buttery and the creaminess was offset nicely against the lemon juice and oil.

We also ordered the grilled octopus - more tender octopus, I've never had. The paprika gave it a hint of warmth and the capers were a nice touch but was almost flavour overload (hey but who's complaining?!).

Finished with a cream catalan, nice without being amazing but not a bad word to say about it. All in all, a most satisfying meal. Probably not the cheapest place around but you can't fault the quality of the food or the service.

也許是Weekday的關係,又或許是西班牙菜比較冷門的關係,反正這夜人客並不多,我們三人可以很寧靜的享用晚餐,實是樂事。

在熟悉西班牙菜朋友的引導下,大家也決定了要吃的東西。而在等食之前,先來半渣的Sangria。冰凍的Sangria,配合了甜美既生果,喝時清新順喉,是好飲的,只希望不會太面紅的把朋友都嚇怕。

我們有點套餐,也有散叫。跟餐的有一兜沙律,菜蔬感覺新鮮,車厘茄的份量不少,而且清甜,幾開胃的。

收起沙律的碟子,其他食品也陸續送上來。炸西班牙火腿球Ham Croquettes,上桌時香脆熱辣,裡頭是薯蓉混入了西班牙火腿,又香又有口感,大家都讚好,更是Sangria的良伴。

另一味上的,又是香口的東西,豬腩肉。肥瘦相間的腩肉,色澤吸引,一望已知對辦。連肥帶瘦夾皮的一起吃,是既香又脆,甘香又鬆化,總之就是極品。我反而覺得, 甜蛋黃醬是可有可無。

牛面頰似乎都幾吸引,也點一客。Tapas的份量,每人只能淺嚐一小件,但肉質是鬆化而不失咬口,味道佳。底下青綠色的莞豆蓉只是提升視覺效果,沒什麼味道的,但旁邊的醬汁,就調校得不錯。

再來,就是西班牙蟹肉奄列Crab Trotilla。首嚐這味東西,原來又是香口野,裡頭挺多的薯仔、卻稍嫌蟹肉和洋蔥的份量不足,同埋沒太多蛋香,否則會更加精彩。

由於打算在外面再食甜的,所以今餐只得一味甜品,Churros with chocolate。脆條質感有點兒像油炸鬼,沾上朱古力漿,無疑是好食的,也正宗。不過,如果個漿能夠濃郁些少,會更適合甜魔。

總的說是滿意的,今餐之後,或許會找尋更多西班牙餐廳去試。

I can't believe that I haven't done a review on Tapeo yet. It is our regular restaurant and the food is amazing. It is by the sea and the wine option is very good. It is nice to have a dinner that walk in the Quarry Park. Romantic. Anyway, the food is very good, they have special menu on the wall every day. Worth trying something new different from the menu. We tried the seafood skewers from the special menu, it was very nice. Fresh ingredients and delicious dressing. It was a top dog. My favori

First time we ordered and won't do it again. Not sure what is it. Pizza is not supposed to be this small and there is no tomato sauce then why called it pizza? Not sure.

All in all. The meal is lovely and we always spend a great time there. Try if you haven't done so.

有半價酒店buffet唔食,特登走黎呢個海濱搵野食,好耐黎過呢附近酒吧飲野,對西灣河呢個海濱印象深刻,想帶女朋友黎行下,原本睇fb見到隔黎有間中仿意,打算去個度,第一次經過tapeo無入去,去到中仿意又無walk-in位,要早訂,見到又係一般餐廳的中西菜,無太大失望再返轉頭呢間tapeo碰下運氣,開頭都係話要訂位,但有張檯剛食完,我地就唔洗訂檯就有位啦,叫左:-1 jar Sangria- 茄汁肉丸(4 meatballs with tomato sauce) OK-羊肉串(2 lamb skewer) OK-炸火腿球(4 ham croquettes) GOOD, MUST EAT-炒雜菜(vegi with duck egg) OK-海鮮炒飯(seafood paella) GOOD, MUST EAT兩個人食以上份量會比較多,但想試多少少款式所以會多order左,除左個炒飯其他dish都辣既,但還可以接受,呢樹食物都係即叫即住,所以唔等得唔好黎食,坐位為高檯高凳,唔太迫,open kitchen,會有少許熱,最後兩個人食左HK560。

兩個人食以上份量會比較多,但想試多少少款式所以會多order左,除左個炒飯其他dish都辣既,但還可以接受,呢樹食物都係即叫即住,所以唔等得唔好黎食,坐位為高檯高凳,唔太迫,open kitchen,會有少許熱,最後兩個人食左HK560。
