Been wanting to try Choubo Kissaten for a while now and finally got to it as they’ve now opened a branch in CWB! Pic 1️⃣&2️⃣: Omurice with Japanese Style Beef Cheek Stew in Red Wine Sauce / 日式红酒炖牛面肉蛋包饭 - $145 hkd 🍛🥩
— Would you look at that omelette 🤤, perfect cook on it as the inside was still nice and runny with a creamy consistency. The beef cheek stew was pretty good but the flavours could be slightly richer in my opinion, as the sauce wasn’t savoury nor dense enough. The fried rice base was nicely done too, rice was nice and dry and perfectly seasoned too.


Pic 3️⃣: Strawberry French Toast / 草莓法式多士 - $88hkd 🍓
— Slightly disappointed by this as the french toast was way too wet as it was just drenched in the strawberry sauce. The parts that weren’t overly soaked were alright, the french toast had a nice eggy flavour and was pan-fried to a light crispy finish whilst the bread was still fluffy on the inside. Another issue with this was the temperature of this whole dish, it was way too hot for a dessert, which made the strawberries and strawberry sauce taste really acidic. This definitely could’ve done with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream to help lighten up the flavours.


Pic 4️⃣: Teriyaki Gyuu Tan / 照烧牛舌 - $59 hkd
— The ox tongue was nicely grilled and well seasoned too. It was really tender and had a great chew to it.


Pic 5️⃣: Grilled Eggplant with Sakura Shrimp / 樱花虾烧茄子 - $69 hkd 🍆
— Loved this dish! Eggplant was perfectly grilled, leaving a nice char to it which left a nice aroma too. The teriyaki sauce was well balanced and not overly sweet. The sakura shrimp added an umami element to the dish and also a good crunch too! Only downside to this dish is that it’s quite oily.
