In Jordan, looking for a place to eat, we came across Pho Vietnam. It seemed new and we decided to see if their pho was any good. We decided to order from the tea set menu as the sets came with a drink. Boyfriend had the Mini Raw Beef Noodle ($30). The soup was mostly MSG. Not much beef flavour. Portion was bigger than expected. Beef was tender and not too fat.
I had the Prawn Cake Vermicelli ($32). There were two prawn cakes that were a bit on the oily side but at least tasted quite good. Lots of prawn flavour and firm in texure. The nuoc nam sauce was a bit on the spicy side. Everything felt crisp and fresh.
We decided to share one more tea set of a banh mi ($32) which was oddly in Chinese only. I guess they didn't know how to translate it? This was not that good. The bread was too hard, not that airy type usually found in banh mi but then it's super rare (if no impossible) to find here. All the vegetables were just shredded and not pickled. There was some daikon that seemed pickled but they weren't very sour in taste. The pork wasn't a lot and it was rather tough.
Portions were generous and price is cheap. But the food was not really Vietnamese and more adaptable to the Hong Kong palate. Really won't be back.
