I always walk by this shop and notice it's always full. I wasn't really sure what they served and it seemed spicy so I didn't try. But one evening with boyfriend, we walked by and I told him about this. He looked and said there were a lot of nonspicy items so we went inside to give it a try.面馆皇 (or it's English literal translation Man Guan Wang) is a super tiny noodle shop that serves Northern Chinese noodles such as hand pulled noodles and knife sliced noodles. Seating is cramped and but cleaner than I had expected. Menu is in both English and Chinese with a few photos.
Herbal Medicinal Soup in a Hotpot with Zhejiang Black Vinegar Ribs ($58). I noticed pretty much everyone ordered a hotpot medicinal soup combo so I tried this. The noodles were hand pulled and chewy. At first I feared the soup would be too strong in medicinal herbs but in fact it wasn't. I couldn't taste any sort of medicinal ingredient. I could only taste a lot of salt. But the noodles were pretty good and it was a very large portion.
Pretty good and inexpensive noodles with hearty portion size especially in the Causeway Bay area. I would return.
