over-attentive service . . .

Three of us visited for our first time 'H One' on Saturday night after watching a very over-packed CG action 'Transformer' at Palace IFC. The restaurant gave us a rather good impression on entering the premises, with a nice view and perfect lighting, though a bit noisy . There were a lot to choose from the just above average wine list, but the marking up is generally more than double the retail price in a local wine cellar. The bread basket and the food were very good. So far so good . . . but

Three of us visited for our first time 'H One' on Saturday [the 28th] night after watching a very over-packed CG action 'Transformer' at Palace IFC. The restaurant gave us a rather good impression on entering the premises, with a nice view and perfect lighting, though a bit noisy [which one wouldn't really mind in a modern Italian hip dining room]. There were a lot to choose from the just above average wine list, but the marking up is generally more than double [to 150%] the retail price in a local wine cellar. The bread basket and the food were very good. So far so good . . . but we were very annoyed by the over-attentive service. Time and again, we were approached by different waiters / waitresses asking us if we would like another bottle of water; our conversation were being over heard a couple of times and being questioned immediately by someone sneaking from behind. For a while, we were totally unable to carry on with our conversation for more than two minutes. I have no choice but to complain to the 'floor supervisor' before we're left alone to dine and chat comfortably; but then when we asked for service, their responses and looks were kind of (??) weird!? The supervisor was kind enough to offer us complimentary dessert.
