The interior design embraces a very warm yellowish metallic wall with leather chairs. Elegant yet still very welcoming. When it comes to food, M1 is famous for its very competitive price with a set menu of 1 starter + 2 entree for only $588 + 10%!
Scallop with Spinach Salad
5 big pieces of juicy scallops are seared until beautifully golden brown. Not only there is a pile of mix green salad in the middle, the scallops are actually served with some yellow caviar which are like olive oil jelly. It is a very light and healthy starter to start with because you are going to have a very satisfying meal at M1!
Skewer platterThe platter comes with 3 different kinds of meat including beef, salmon, and pork. BBQ sauce and tomato sauce are provided on the side, along with some fresh grilled tomato on vines and potato wedges for you to balance out the meatiness from the board.
Everything was cooked just right as you can see from the colour of the meat. The beef has a very strong beef taste and it has a very good chew to it. The centre of it remains juicy and moist.
The salmon is grilled until rather dry but the taste is fresh. There is no unpleasant fishy taste whatsoever. The flesh is really flaky with a slightly crispy charred surface. I enjoyed it because salmon is really good for it as it is really high in omega-3!
The pork skewer has some uneven shaped pieces. They are all pretty succulent and probably the softest among all skewers, which is because of its higher in fat content naturally.
The wedges is pretty basic with a good crunchy texture. However, we are pretty satisfied with the meat therefore we didn't get to finish all of them.
The tomato is really juicy with an amazing burst-in-your-mouth effect. It is also not too oily which I like a lot. It's always good to have something refreshing and light when having a large amount of meat.
Pork KnuckleWe are already very very satisfied at this stage as this is just a set dinner for two but we know we still have one more entree to come. The whole piece of pork knuckle has been prepared until extremely crispy on the skin, while the meat has a flavourful savoury taste. The crispy skin mix with the meat is a bomb. This dish also comes with a serving of deep fried wedges. Lastly, it is also very traditional to have sauerkraut to serve with the pork knuckle to reduce to the greasiness and the heaviness of this indulging dish.
I would have to say this is actually very challenging to have 2 people to complete the whole meal unless you are two hungry men! Thus, it is a very affordable restaurant for food and drinks at the heart of cwb, enjoying the sports game from their big TVs.
