The restaurant was encouragingly busy for a Thursday evening. With the tables spaced at a reasonable distance, there was a pleasant atmosphere when I sat down to look at the menu. Two signature dishes of the restaurant are uni gunkan and caviar, which are freely available despite the price for the buffet being only $348 plus the usual 10% service charge. I decided to start with these, along with assorted sashimi and sushi. The food arrived promptly and was beautifully presented, the sashimi over
Grilled food was also available and included a diverse range of meat and fish. I particularly enjoyed the lamb chops, which were generous and carefully seasoned. Also of note were a richly flavoured dish of black pepper beef cubes with some potato, and grilled mackerel with skin made crispy without the fish being dry. The various tempura dishes were skillfully prepared with light and crispy batter that is not at all oily. One other highlight was the fusion sashimi dishes. Of particular note was thinly sliced amberjack served with lemon and a flavoursome, authentic pesto that added richness to the sweetness of the fish.
A very diverse range of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks was available at a self-service drinks bar. This included sake, wine, beer, shochu, soda, water, tea and coffee that catered for pretty much any taste. This was situated next to a salad bar that included treats like broiled crayfish and other shellfish, and a dessert bar that had significantly higher quality offerings than is typical at an all you can eat buffet.
