The Kinnet is one of the very few bookable restaurants around Central/Sheung Wan preparing healthy food, with fresh ingredients, at a reasonably affordable price AND catering for both herbivores & carnivores (so to speak : P)! I feel sorry to see Kinnet go (service ceasing on 5/9/2017) and am regretting a bit that I've delayed writing a review for it --- I have visited tons of times with lots of pictures on my phone. Before it's too late, let me just put together a short review of the highlights

Deliciously  stir-fried  Kale  &  Mushroom  aptly  seasoned  with  sweet  Caramelised  Onion!  The  Multigrain  bread  is  SO  GOOD  - wonderfully chewy, packed  with  poppy  seeds! Contrary to the (first) impression most Multigrain bread gives, this is not dry at all, it's so soft and tasty.

I've always loved the bread served at Kinnet and am so so glad I gave this sandwich another try before Kinnet closes on 5/9 --- 'cause the same sandwich was a bit over-toasted & dry when I first gave it a try a few months ago.

While I've ordered the <Seared Chicken Bowl> for my friends a few times, I've never tried it. It does look very fresh and tasty though! A warm option for some who don't feel like having a cold salad.

Services at Kinnet has always been excellent --- the waitresses and waiters are attentive to your dietary requirements, and are patient in explaining the ingredients. They are quick in refilling your water, and I was warmly welcomed some towels for drying myself up when the Red Rainstorm Signal was up.

Two poached XL size eggs - look at that oozy egg yolk on fresh Tomato 🍅  + creamy mashed Avocado , and blending with the generous portion of crab meat. The "yoghurt" dressing is less buttery than the traditional Hollandaise sauce, and matches with the lightly seasoned crab meat well.

I LOVE FIGS and already ordered this when I was having a browse at the daily selection of salads at the salad display. 

Kinnet consistently serves the freshest ingredients and their food always meets (if not exceeds) my expectations --- this <Fig Tart> is rich in flavour just as its beautiful shade of pink, and very "figgy" indeed. Bit too sweet for my liking though.

This <Matcha Cheesecake> is wonderfully smooth, aptly sweet & deliciously matcha flavoured, with an aftertaste / a hint of soya milk. The base is thin & light, nothing buttery, packed with some shredded coconuts. YUMMY!

"Low Calories Set Dinner" $238 for 2 courses: I had grilled veggie salad as starter & <Seared Halibut> as main.

Halibut was cooked on point: meat was beautifully tender & juicy, while the skin was perfectly balanced between cooked to crispy & staying chewy with the collagen in it. Overall seasoning was light & matches with the refreshing Mango salsa!

LOVE, love, love Kinnet's veggie curry. One of my favourites in Hong Kong. I can't really take spicy food but this is all fine for me - lovely gingery & aromatic, it's spiced up with refreshing lemongrass. It comes in generous portion, and is served robustly nutty brown rice.

I still remember this was highly recommended by the waitress when I first tried Kinnet's dinner --- it was a very good recommendation indeed!

Honestly, I don't really know how to wrap this review up --- how I wish I could say "I look forward to trying new amazing dishes from the Kinnet". 

Having said that, it only remains for me to say that: Kinnet, you'll be missed! Sorry that I haven't written a review or posted more pictures earlier. I had so many delicious meals and lovely memories with friends and family here. All the best to you!

For main course, i had the Zucchini Pad Thai (+Prawn) - it was surprisingly good!! Mixing zucchini noodles with eggs, tofu, bean sprout & peanuts; it looks and taste like an original pad Thai, but with no noodles.. so good!

The Halibut dish from their summer menu was also nice - light and fresh. With food like these. I wouldn't mind to be a vegetarian after all ...

Wednesday night here was pretty quite, great place to hang out with friends for a quality time. I will come back next time for their breakfast and salad lunch!

For the mains, I had the Chicken Thai basil which was served on cauliflower rice.
Cauliflower rice is basically finely chopped cauliflower florets and by using cauliflower to replace rice, it is a smart way of getting fibres while skipping carbs.
This dish was very flavourful because of the herbs and spices.

下雨天, 唔想喺室外。 假日走到黎上環感受 健康嘅慢生活。 呢間餐廳嘅樓上係健身室, 所以喺呢間餐廳嘅食物都以健康為主。沙律有五款選擇, 我哋揀咗兩款。是日湯係蕃茄湯, 非常濃郁。是日魚扒係煎盲鰽, 都幾脆身但有啲薄, 所以鎖唔住肉汁, 略嫌乾身。 但係兩個伴碟沙律就非常之美味, 分別係紅菜頭同埋羽衣甘藍 橙沙律。Smoked Salmon Tartine 分左四件, 材料好足, 包括 avocado, dill cucumber, radish, tomato, 加埋主角煙三文魚。咁舒服嘅環境加上美食, 傾下食下就3粒鐘啦

沙律醬應該是自家制的, 味道很豐富, 一點也不淡! 羽衣甘藍很新鮮, 沙律面灑上的芝士份量絕不手軟, 很喜歡的一個沙律!

Chicken Vegetable Soup ($50)
雞肉不算很多, 味道正常, 沒什麼特別。


Scallop Spaghetti ($168) 
比我們預期中大份! 蕃茄醬能吃出新鮮蓄茄的味道, 而帶子也煎得很香, 不錯不錯!


Roasted Organic Chicken served with 2 salads - Summer & Tofu ($148)
和友人也以為應該有半份雞的份量, 怎料只有一件雞胸及一件雞脾
。我吃的是雞胸, 質感算嫰, 很難得呢! 配搭的兩份沙律反而挺大份, 沒有很留意有什麼食材, 因為之前已經吃了一整份的kale caesar, 其實已經沒有很大的胃口再吃沙律。只記得有一個是以豆腐為主的, 味道挺不錯, 有一些胡麻味; 另一個則隱約記得有些像薄荷的味道, 個人不太喜歡。基於我對於沙律菜的認識不是很深, 也就不能作出更深入的評價。

由於店員極力推介她們的冷壓果汁, 我和友人都各點了一個試試。

Sunrise ($60)
見menu上寫著材料有甘荀、甜菜、橙等等, 主要是嚐到甜菜味, 甘荀的味道不是很突出, 整體算易入口。


Body Cleanser($60) 
只嚐了幾口, 比Sunrise酸, 西芹味也很突出, 不好西芹的應該不太喜歡這個。


整體認為這裡的食材都挺新鮮的, 店員對餐廳提供的食物十分了解, 是很舒服的一次經驗, 會推介給其他對有機食物有興趣的朋友。

Though it can't be compared with salad-hopping place in fast food style in the proximity, this is always a good choice for proper meals and gatherings.

The promotion of low carb and low calories set dinner is what reminds me of here, and at the end brings me here. Compared to my previous dinner experience, $238/2 courses and $268 /3 courses are both around the normal per head spending. If you are as health-conscious as me, you will know how rare restaurants do list out calories of their dishes, and very often, the grave concern is that figures are usually scaring people off. By showing you how little calories each dish is, figures then turn into a comparative advantage.

Three of us got two low calories and one low carb dinner sets. Starters include STEAMED TOFU SALAD (207 kcal), DETOX WATERCRESS SALAD (91 kcal) and GRILLED VEGETABLES SALAD (146 kcal).  Names are heard and thought to be plain, but they didn't taste so. They weren't totally without plating, but of course the tofu with asparagus dressed on top looked the best among all. The watercress salad was surprisingly full of shredded cheese to enliven the flavour, however didn't boost calories further. Grilled vegetables salad contained a mix of zucchini, aubergine and peppers which were flavourful with slight dressing of cheese.

Most impressive of all are the main courses, which look so normal but light in texture. What we love most is the CHICKEN THAI BASIL (333 kcal), with an egg sunny-side up on top, covering minced chicken fried with chili. As it is one of the main courses in the low carb menu, those resembling rice is not rice, but "cauliflower rice" - simply crushing cauliflower to make it look like rice. Seasonings were just right, making this as decadent as how it is normally served in Thai eateries!

Food cooked with little additives isn't necessarily tasting bland, especially when ingredients with healthy oil are adopted, just like cod fish. SEARED COD WITH WARM TOM YUM SALAD (175 kcal) is a good example of how desire of pan-fried food can still be satiated within calories limit. It was pan-fried to perfect golden state with crunchy exterior and tender flesh. Greens were placed underneath, however the "tom yum" element was perhaps too hidden to be noticed.

We do have a low calories but not low carb option, which is the WHOLE WHEAT SPAGHETTI (350 kcal). Cooked and well mixed in pesto sauce, whole wheat spaghetti was just slightly less al dente than normal ones given its high content of wheat which doesn't favour its texture. Definitely worth a try if you are sharing all main courses with friends and some do wish to have carbs to make them feel full.

We wrapped up our healthy meals with ROSE CRÈME BRULÈE (293 kcal), sweetness level of which was just right. Instead of having a standard sugar crust which is a calorie killer, aroma of rose gave a highlight amid the smooth texture of egg pudding base, which makes it equally adorable.

If you are on a serious diet, calories of just one course may exceed what you are entitled to have, but being slightly more lenient to yourself is a must, and that's what "cheat meal" means. Knowing calories in food is a must for dieters, however this is rarely a scene even in restaurants promoting wellness and health. Thumbs up for the creative yet practical idea to launch this low carb and low calories menu, which grants me enjoyment in food like usual but at the same time less guilt in my dieting time!

After reading about this place on a food blog, finally got a chance to stop by today for brunch. Situated in the new hipster foodie area of Hillier and Jervois street in Sheung Wan, the Kinnet offers tasty healthy food choices and at reasonable prices too.

Seating is spacious and service is reasonable. They even have outdoor seating as well as one private dining area for a large group.

You won't be disappointed with the food quality here. Definitely worth a repeat visit.

這個晚上,我們吃了七位大廚精心炮製的 salad 菜式,原來 ,只要用心做,普通的雜菜沙律也能來一個七十二變。七位大廚各有特色,有些着重突出食材天然的味道,也有些較着重調味,而The Kinnet Cafe 的沙律創作絕對屬於前者。以下這碟七彩繽紛的 Green Garden Salad 便是獲得大家喜愛的其中一款沙律,勇奪第二名,由The Kninnet 的 Chef Sing Lau 主理,沙律材料豐富,採用了近期大熱的 kale leaves、牛油果、甜粟米、蕃茄、雞蛋、茄子、feta cheese 以及有機雞肉。

也吃了 香煎鱈魚 Seared Cod ($180),鱈魚調味較輕,反而輕易吃出本身魚脂魚香,很不錯;配菜有菠菜、羽衣甘藍沙律配牛油果莎莎醬,全是我喜歡的食材,又是吃了不少!

We were greeted by a very friendly staff and everyone from the kitchen workers behind the counter to the waiting staff were smiley and friendly. I almost felt like I was back home in Canada at IHops (for those who don't know it's only THE friendliest pancake house), but I digress. So. Theres patio seats outdoors which seem lovely but it's selfserve if so, so we opted to sit inside.

I really enjoyed their latte as it was just the right amount of milky and B seemed to enjoy his gingerbread chai was I tried, and was nice and simple with much added sugar which was nice.

Our light brunch before hitting up carnival food snacks was their avovado eggs benny and their french toast.

Avocado Eggs Benedict:

Really pretty colours, the creaminess of the avocado with the sourness of the tomato works well. Hollandaise sauce was nice ans light. But the overall dish was a bit too cold for my liking, egg yolk a bit too runny, sourdough bread needed to be more toasted and if I re-create this at home (which I fully intend to!) I'll prob add a slice of smoked gouda or provolone to up the taste a bit.

French Toast:

Looked very appetizing, not oily at all and really felt like a guiltless indulgence! Lightly coated with egg and came with jam, syrup and we asked for more cream as it was very delicious. Topped with a sprinkle of icing sugar along with slices bananas and blueberries, this was a winner for me!

Verdict? Will return to try their other dishes and it's a good healthy breakfast/brunch place to add to the list!

接著便是主菜,起初以為是在【】和【Grilled Bone-in Ribeye Steak】兩者之中選取,在點菜時才知道原來兩者也有,份量十足。先由燒雞開始,是一整隻燒雞,幸好不是火雞。在微微香脆焦香的表面下,燒雞肉質依然非常嫩滑,切下時更有不少肉汁流出,加上恰到好處的調味,絕對是水準之作。

另一份有骨肉眼扒更是驚人,相信不下於20oz的份量。可是這兒有點奇怪,肉眼扒是不會拿回廚房幫忙切的,要自己來,難就難在要用餐刀來切,真的很考功力,幸好小弟都有一定的刀法,三爬兩撥便切開了。當看見那櫻桃紅的肉色,著實吸引,而且肉汁豐富之餘,質感柔軟香味濃,質素上乘。
