We are always on the look out for good Thai food. We used to live in Thailand and often get pangs of desire for a decent som tam and laab.That is exactly what we ordered here at Come Thai House. We also ordered some 'spicy' pork noodles with chili and holy basil. Of the three dishes, this was the best of a bad bunch. The laab came first and looked quite good. That is exactly what we ordered here at Come Thai House. We also ordered some 'spicy' pork noodles with chili and holy basil. Of the three dishes, this was the best of a bad bunch.
The laab came first and looked quite good. The moment we tasted it, we changed our minds. It had no spice heat and no citrus punch. The minced pork had a strange texture and tasted very 'piggy'. It wasn't good in any way.
Next came the noodles. They were ok. The pork was a little gelatinous and the dish was not spicy again. The dish was inoffensive, but it was a Chinese dish with the addition of some krapow (holy basil).
The som tam was terrible. It was very sweet and had only the flavour of sugar and fish sauce. Actually inedible. No spice, no citrus or sourness. The dish was a catastrophe.
The staff were friendly enough, but did not ask why we left so much food uneaten. They didn't want to know what the problems were and we couldn't be bothered to tell them without being asked.
We will not go again and we wouldn't recommend the place to anyone else.
