Dutch Burger 麪包中間夾着的是kroket 。說是荷蘭特色但跟法國Croquette、西班牙Croqueta沒什麼不一樣,都是拿麪包糠裹着芝士薯仔肉醬去炸。生在香港,對國家概念和歐洲現實有所出入,不能理解西法比荷都有的菜爲何能是地方特色。 漢堡包夾着菜,菜夾着Kroket,Kroket夾着蝦蓉醬。蘸芥末蛋黃醬吃,感覺和譚點的迷你蝦漢堡很像,只是蝦蓉醬蝦分量較小,切得較碎。芥末蛋黃醬不夠酸,那一小撮清新盡被濃濃蝦蓉醬鹹味蓋過 。

Veal 荷蘭彈丸之地,不到我國內蒙3%。其畜牧業享負盛名。荷蘭美素佳兒與蒙牛依利,如何選擇,不言而喻。對主菜牛仔肉,期望甚殷。照片來自同行友人。我那盤的鵝肝禁不住熱力煎熬,裂成三份。賣相打折扣但對味道沒影響。牛仔肉未如想像般嫩滑,但尚可收貨。肥美鵝肝溶化落入牛仔肉,正好解決肉味不濃的缺點。配菜的薯仔很「粉」很軟,可惜量不多 。

Dutch Cookies 據說荷蘭人會把 巧克力碎灑在乾巴巴的餅乾上吃,聽上去很Dutch Cookies。 看了看菜單,才知道是窩夫、白巧克力慕絲和醃車厘子。比利時窩夫遠近遐邇,荷蘭人做的也不會差到哪兒去。窩夫熱乎乎,很鬆軟。慕絲入口幼滑仿似無物,只是吃不到白巧克力的味道,也不夠冷,無法與窩夫作鮮明對比。我對醃車厘子有童年陰影,那股可怕的藥水味是畢生不能忘記的傷疤。這兒的車厘子,沒有藥水味,也把核去掉,吃得方便滋味。可是,當我完全放下戒心後,冷不防有顆車厘子尚未去核。不得不說一句:醃車厘子,我恨你。

算上加一,二百元不到,能吃上生蠔牛扒鵝肝,還能有什麼要求?食物質素可以,服務歐洲得很,上菜收盤總會問你吃得滿意乎,單是這份感覺,已經值回票價。

My first time to this French/Dutch restaurant. I heart that the Chef is Dutch so as being Dutch I was looking forward to some Dutch dishes.The restaurant is quite small but very cosy.The menu consists of 4 parts: small bites, starters, main and desert. My first time to this French/Dutch restaurant. I heart that the Chef is Dutch so as being Dutch I was looking forward to some Dutch dishes.

The restaurant is quite small but very cosy.
The menu consists of 4 parts: small bites, starters, main and desert. We decided to take some small bites and starters to get the taste of the restaurant.

Number #1 Dutch bite are Bitterballen. As a Dutch I was not vey convinced about this dish: it did not have the typical Bitterballen taste, it was quite meaty (big chunks) and the mustard was quite thick and not sticky. In Holland you "dip" your Bitterball in the mustard but here I had to apply it with my knife.

Another typical dish are the Dutch shrimps. They are quite small but very taste. I did like the shrimps but the dish would be perfect if the typical dutch cocktail sause was part of it.

Out next dish was the aubergine- cheese dish. May be not typical Dutch but it was surprisingly tasty. The combination of the aubergine and cheese was a great choice of the chef.

The fries on the menu was highlighted as a chef recommendation. And I have to say that the potatoes used for these fries are one of the better quality: a bit sweet. Personally I like a bit crunchy fries, and these were made perfect. I was a bit disappointed by the mayonaise. Blend flavour and not the typical Dutch "friet sause" as I know.

Last we had the vanilla ice-cream with chocolate. they were out of vanilla so we took the raspberry. The combination was tasteful.
The ice-cream was on top of a Dutch waffel. This caused the waffel become stone hard and impossible to eat. A pitty because I love Dutch waffels. Waffels and ice-cream is just not the right combination!

Overall a nice dinner which cost us including 2 drinks and service fee HK$ 550.

I have been here quite a few times already due to my continuous search for the best or at least another restaurant that makes/has Bitterballens. I have travelled to Netherlands and has been travelling back and forth three times a year and would never miss an opportunity to eat one of Holland's fave bar snacks, the Bitterballen. Here at 238, I have been told that they do serve it. I have been here quite a few times already due to my continuous search for the best or at least another restaurant that makes/has Bitterballens. 

I have travelled to Netherlands and has been travelling back and forth three times a year and would never miss an opportunity to eat one of Holland's fave bar snacks, the Bitterballen. 

Here at 238, I have been told that they do serve it. To my delight, I immediately went and was served by the lovely manager. As expected, it is a great snack to munch and guaranteed, you will keep ordering it. Especially if its just for $50! 


I normally go here for the Bitterballens as I have not been so adventurous with my choice of food but the third time I have been here, I was with my Dutch boyfriend and thought we should enjoy a nice Dutch/Euroean dinner together. 

It was friday night and the place is obviously packed with people. We waited outside where there is a table and a high chair for us to enjoy the view or perhaps, outdoor drinks of wine and Heineken beer imported directly from Netherlands (it tastes absolutely different from the Heineken here). 

The bitterballens, were served to us.. and same as usual, the quality amazes me every time I took a bite. Its like a croquette type of snack, savoury with shredded meat/beef , crisp fried to perfect golden brown and dipped in a Dutch mild mustard sauce. 
 

After our pre-dinner snacks and beer, we went in and ordered their 6-course dinner set. The set was for restaurant week and so it was a different kind of set we received as per the usual. 

To make the long story short, everything was done in perfection. Perfectly nice ambiance , reasonably priced and great tasting wine. 

題外話/補充資料: Its literally called, 238 (pronounced , two-three-eight). The chef, Patrick, worked for two restaurants rated with Michelin stars back in Netherlands. Therefor you can really expect that the food won't be disappointing. You can say, Dag, hoe gaat het? (pronunciation -- dak, hu hat het) (how are you?) It would be nice as the restaurant is managed by four lovely all Dutch staff.

今年的「香港餐廳周」,自己訂位較遲,所以當瀏覽的時候,不少心儀的餐廳不是時間就不到便是所有座位已被全部預訂,令自己有點失望。但在自己細心再看之後,便留意到排在餐廳名單之上第一位,以數目字 238作為餐廳名字的 238 Restaurant,名字似曾相識。再想一想,立時醒起這餐廳自己曾在一位對他的食評甚為信賴的食友食神歸位的文章中見過,那食評對這間餐廳的評價頗為不錯,便決定預訂這餐廳的座位,在一個難得平日不用上班的日子,專誠前去一試這餐廳在「香港餐廳周」中特備的四道菜午餐。餐廳地址就在上環荷李活道 238號,正對著荷李活道公園,餐廳亦簡單地以 238作為名字。餐廳地方不大,座位只得 24個,但這天我在中午 12時多來到的時候,餐廳內只得一枱客人,其後客人雖然多了一點,餐廳老闆夫婦兩人以外的唯一一位外籍女侍應也拿著餐牌在餐廳門外向路過的行人招攬生意,但餐廳也只是坐得半滿而已,看來,這間各方面自己都非常滿意的餐廳,仍然未為太多人認識,生意只是普通,而我也根本不需要預早訂位。不過對我來說,這樣也好,可以讓我與老婆仔兩人在這天舒舒服服地靜靜享受餐廳為我們準備的美味菜式。因為是小店,所以店內的員工

因為是小店,所以店內的員工也不多,除了店內的一對友善的荷蘭籍夫婦 PatrickAnne外,就只得一名外籍的女侍應招呼客人,所以老闆娘 Anne也要不時親力親為,為顧客介紹菜式,又主動問我們喜不喜歡這天的菜式。而老闆 Patrick呢?也與店中剛來的客人傾談甚歡,在我問他能否拍下他的照片時,也友善地表示沒有問題。也許,這就是贏得顧客欣賞的好客之道吧!

雖然這天餐廳也有午市套餐供應,但餐廳周的特備午餐只在餐廳周舉行期間的短短十日左右供應,這天專誠來到,又那有不吃之理,所以夫妻倆不約而同叫來特備午餐一客,一起享用。

一早從食友的食評文章中得知這餐廳的其中一道招牌菜式是 Lobster Bisque($130)。這既是招牌菜,又是自己喜歡的菜式,難得來到,便也叫來一試,看看這湯的水準是否真的不錯。

招牌「龍蝦湯」最先來到,這湯的材料與湯是分開上的,白瓷湯碟上的海鮮多得令人驚訝,當中的海鮮有大量大小不一的蝦,帶子、三文魚和其他白身魚,份量十足。雖然餐廳老闆娘對我們說這天因為餐廳沒有龍蝦的關係,所以海鮮中缺少了龍蝦,但單看這湯的海鮮陣容,便已令人覺得它材料豐富,物有所值了。

餐廳老闆娘把熱燙的「龍蝦湯」從白瓷壺中緩緩倒進湯碟中的一刻,我當然不會錯過拍照的機會。看著橙褐色的「龍蝦湯」倒進碟中,龍蝦的獨有香味撲鼻而來,教人在未嚐「龍蝦湯」的味道前,先嗅其香。

喝一口湯,感覺上沒有以往喝過的龍蝦湯般帶有或多或少的苦味,鹹鮮的味道反而更為突出。可能有人會覺得湯味偏鹹,但我卻覺得湯的味道挺不錯,一邊喝著美味的湯,一邊吃著湯中吃極也像吃不完的魚蝦海鮮,感覺蠻受用的,加上這湯的份量甚多,餐牌中雖沒說是否一人份量,但我卻覺得即使兩人一起享用亦綽綽有餘。雖然這湯要百多元一客,但以它的質與量來衡量,我覺得仍然是物有所值的。

喝過「龍蝦湯」。這天特備午餐的頭盤 A Taste of The North Sea 跟著送到。這頭盤既名為 A Taste of North Sea ,當中的材料當然是海鮮。其實這頭盤包括三款海鮮,分別是生蠔青口煙鱔。三者之中,以煙鱔自己最為喜歡,肉質緊緻爽脆,味道鹹香的煙鱔配以脆身的多士,味道挺佳。生蠔雖然難免會細隻點,但海水味不輕的生蠔肉質爽甜,吃來感覺仍然良好。青口以高身杯子盛載,味道較為普通,加上有點碎殼未能完全清除,成為了這天午膳的最大瑕疵。幸好接著享用的各道菜式都有不錯的水準,正所謂瑕不掩瑜,這天的午餐仍然是近期自己吃過的一頓最滿意的午餐。

下一道菜是 Dutch Burger。這以荷蘭命名的小漢堡包是新鮮即製的,名字雖稱為 Dutch Burger,但形狀其實不似漢堡包般呈圓形,而是像熱狗般呈長條形的。這包的包身十分軟熟,中間夾著的長形炸肉丸,裡面的餡料,是來自荷蘭的蝦肉,一咬下去,炸肉丸裡面的蝦肉餡便澎湃地漏出來,要是不立刻用嘴或手接著,便會浪費裡面熱辣好味,混和了日式芥辣蛋黃醬的餡料了。

主菜「烤牛仔肉」有兩大件之多,牛仔肉上面有一塊薄切的圓形鵝肝,底下還有烤雜菌。這主菜的牛仔肉的肉質雖然未算最佳,都算可以,蘸點以砵酒為主要材料的醬汁,味道尚佳。鵝肝雖是薄切,份量不是太多,但鵝肝的膩滑口感和它獨有的豐盈味道仍令自己十分喜歡。

最後的甜品名為 Dutch Cookie,其實是自家製的焦糖蛋糕伴以白朱古力慕絲。這甜品不像一般的跟餐甜品般,只得小小的一件或是迷你的份量,而是如同正價散叫的甜品一樣的大,一端上桌,我們夫妻兩人便不約而同地都有相同的感覺,就是這餐廳的老闆不會因為這甜品只是跟餐甜品而隨便了事或是偷工減料,反而會在每一個環節都認真製作,讓客人感到在這裡用餐物有所值,滿意而返。

至於味道方面,這甜品是蠻不錯的,雖然對我來說是有點偏甜,但蛋糕質感適中,白朱古力慕絲幼滑香甜,兩者的配搭頗為合拍,而且碟中的酒漬車厘子也可把甜味調和,使這甜品的味道更合自己的口味。

這「香港餐廳周」的特備午餐,雖然是不包餐飲的,但以它所收的價錢,能有水準不俗的美食,舒服用餐的環境和充滿誠意的服務,這一餐可是令我極為滿意的。有機會的話,我一定會再來這餐廳,再捧 PatrickAnne場的。

接著是兩款餐廳的招牌菜煙三文魚卷 ($90) 和自家製鵝肝醬 ($90) 。其實鎮店之寶龍蝦湯 ($130) 才是首選,但陰差陽錯之下,錯誤點了煙三文魚卷。

這款煙三文魚卷味道清新,三文魚經自家醃製後,再用來捲著生菜和香蔥,製作不算複雜,完全能夠達致原汁原味的效果 (3/5)。

相比之下,個人更愛這道自家製鵝肝醬。鵝肝醬做得幼滑如絲,醃製過程當中,Patrick 刻意加入較少的酒,藉以突出鵝肝的原味,配以香脆的多士和壓碎了的梅子,配搭的確不錯 (4/5)。

更值得一讚的是,鵝肝醬的份量十分足料,大大塊厚切都只不過索價$90,比起很多高級餐廳,足足便宜了一半以上!

除了幾款出色的小食之外,同時亦揀選了三道菜的午餐一試,結果同樣稱心。

頭盤的時魚沙律,份量和用料都不欺場。兩片三文魚、兩片比目魚加上時蔬和淡咖哩醬汁,醒胃之餘,也令人感覺吃得健康 (3/5)。

心急等待著主菜的出場,結果這款香煎比目魚也沒有叫大家失望。

比目魚煎得恰到好處,肉質爽嫩,而且不會過於油滯。比目魚的底層特別放了大量的洋蔥絲、青瓜粒和紅椒粒,跟魚肉一起吃,感覺更加清甜 (4/5)。

套餐的甜品很多時會比較馬虎了時,想不到這個定律在 "238" 餐廳也被打破。

香濃的肉桂焦糖蛋糕,伴以軟滑的焦糖慕絲,口感相當豐富,為午餐送上完滿的終結 (4/5)。

Pre-birthday brunch was celebrated at 238 in nearby Sheung Wan. It's a new Dutch... Italian/French/Western fusion bistro that just opened up. Right next to Heirloom & 208! And we were surprised at how good everything was! The set lunch came in at HK$125. Which is not bad at all seeing just how much fresh food you get. Jie started with a cup of coffee and caramel waffle!!Jie had the set lunch...which comes with your choice of appetizer- she went with the Crispy Salad w/ Thin Sliced Chicken Filet

Jie had the set lunch...which comes with your choice of appetizer- she went with the Crispy Salad w/ Thin Sliced Chicken Filet and a Soya Chilli Dressing. The portion is quite large! So that's good! Fresh chicken pieces with a semi-spicy and sweet soya chilli dressing! Great starter

Her main was a Stew of Shrimp, monkfish and Salmon w/ Crab sauce and haricots verts! Sis also had this. I didn't try this...because...

I went with their special: a Creamy Lobster soup, richly filled with all kinds of seafood and fish. HK$130...I PRETTY much ordered the exact thing!! But BETTER ;) I love creamy lobster soup. OMG. Perfect perfect perfect brunch! The creamy bisque was salty! (Which I like...but others might find it too salty!) But trust me...so good! Loads of plump, juicy, fresh seafood. The lobster meat was slightly sweet. The salmon bites (which were a plenty) melted in your mouth! 238 is NOT stingy with their food!!! I loved EVERYTHING about this dish. The manager was so sweet at the end. Asking if I would like more soup!!! (The soup comes in a teapot) AND..she gifted sis and I each a caramel waffle biscuit to take home! You betcha I'll be back.
