Arrived here for lunch on a weekday as it was new. Or actually, it returned after vacating this spot for a few years. Along time ago, Le Pain Grille was green in color, curtains were always up so you couldn't see inside, the staff was snotty and food was sub-par French with an overpriced price tag. It has now returned with a whole new look. The place is now tastefully designed with black walls, colorful tiles and large windows so there is a lot of natural light. It is now comfortable chic. The menu is now full of photos, clear and concise. Prices now more reasonable. Just like the agnes b brand itself, it has also been rebranded. No more gecko as their logo but now a cute bunny rabbit. Like the brand itself, it's now more accessible to the public.

I ordered a ham and egg galette and rose cafe au lait.

Rose cafe au lait was quite good. I couldn't find a latte on their menu and only cafe au lait. Odd as cafe au lait is only served in France for breakfast but then again ... this is a fake French cafe serving fake French food. The cafe au lait was very milky with a wonderful fluffy layer of froth. I couldn't really taste any rose flavor though there was a dried rose on  top of my drink. What I found rude was when the server put my cup down, there was no spoon. I didn't ask for one, but the waiter came back later and literally plunked the spoon onto the saucer and walked away. What was I to do with the spoon when I had no sugar to stir in? I didn't need any sugar as it was already a very sweet drink but seriously, why plunk down a spoon??

Ham and egg galette was hit and miss. The galette was crunchy and not soft like I usually like them, so not very good. But I think Le Creperie is the closest thing to what I actually had in France. The ham was not salty so they really did use French ham. There was a layer of Emmentale cheese which was good. The egg was ok, yolk still a bit runny which I liked. But I don't think I'd order this again.

Service was a bit off. It seemed they wanted to rush people out of here. The minute I put down my fork and knife after eating, they took away my plate. When I finished my drink, my cup was taken away. The atmosphere was also noisy as people talked very loudly so don't expect a quite moment to eat.

I might return and try something else as I know that I always like some agnes b food items. I just need to find what it is and stick with it.
