Arrived here for lunch on a weekday as it was new. Or actually, it returned after vacating this spot for a few years. Along time ago, Le Pain Grille was green in color, curtains were always up so you couldn't see inside, the staff was snotty and food was sub-par French with an overpriced price tag. It has now returned with a whole new look. The place is now tastefully designed with black walls, colorful tiles and large windows so there is a lot of natural light. It is now comfortable chic. I ordered a ham and egg galette and rose cafe au lait.
Rose cafe au lait was quite good. I couldn't find a latte on their menu and only cafe au lait. Odd as cafe au lait is only served in France for breakfast but then again ... this is a fake French cafe serving fake French food. The cafe au lait was very milky with a wonderful fluffy layer of froth. I couldn't really taste any rose flavor though there was a dried rose on top of my drink. What I found rude was when the server put my cup down, there was no spoon. I didn't ask for one, but the waiter came back later and literally plunked the spoon onto the saucer and walked away. What was I to do with the spoon when I had no sugar to stir in? I didn't need any sugar as it was already a very sweet drink but seriously, why plunk down a spoon??
I might return and try something else as I know that I always like some agnes b food items. I just need to find what it is and stick with it.
