Baby lamb char-grilled and served with rosemary garlic mash with a red wine mint sauce (5/10)
The lamb was cook to perfection, medium, pink. The lamb was full of flavour, yet tender and fairly seasoned. The red wine mint sauce was surprisingly good, never imagine that mint would go with red. However the mash was rather rubbery, very typical in Hong Kong.

Seafood Cioppino (2/10)
This is a America famous’ Italian tomato base stewed with mixed seafood (King prawns, clams, mussels, scallop and clay fish). The base was sweet and delicate, infused well with the mixed seafood. However, the mixed seafood was frozen, not like the menu suggested – mixed seafood of the day. Hence, the dish lacked freshness, which was the most important secret to the success of Cioppino. We hardly finished the dish.

If you look at the menu, you would think they are rather pretentious. Words they use are annoying, cooked to perfection, full flavoured, grilled to your liking. Maybe is not, but not my thing. The food is genuinely good, which fit well with its price, definitely worth going.

Give me a thumbs up if you like it!

一直久仰大名呢間經濟但意粉由其有質素的AL DENTE 好耐.之前係灣仔經過又無食, 今次係soho 亂行居然比我搵到另一間分店 !門口小小, 但原來有兩層. 店內主要是白色牆,加上暗黃色的蠟燭, 跟soho大部份店一樣, 營造了一個舒服cosy的感覺.麵包是附送的. 暖暖的, 邊邊(包皮)位烘得硬了一點, 跟軟熟的包身有強烈的對比.沾上醋跟橄欖油 , 蠻開胃的.Mussels Caruso $86以$86元來算,有6隻青口確實是蠻抵.白酒內的酒精充分揮發了,剩下的只有陣陣的香味.再加上切成粒的辣椒,把青口的海水味給蓋了.美中不中的是蒜蓉切得太大片,份量也太多. 不小心吃多了的話會變得很辣Risotto $118Risotto 每天的款式都不一樣. 原本黎到al dente 係應該試一下意粉, 但朋友想食risotto 我也不便再多說.配料有雞肉(很多), mushroom , 一片芝士和香草.雞肉煮得太老.意大利飯吃得出用了白汁,奶油和白酒, 飯粒把精華全都吸收了. 咬下去比我們平時吃的要硬一點, 明白這也是risotto 的特色之一. 飯與飯中間還滲著一陣陣磨菇和香草的香味.

Mussels Caruso $86
以$86元來算,有6隻青口確實是蠻抵.
白酒內的酒精充分揮發了,剩下的只有陣陣的香味.
再加上切成粒的辣椒,把青口的海水味給蓋了.
美中不中的是蒜蓉切得太大片,份量也太多. 不小心吃多了的話會變得很辣

Risotto 每天的款式都不一樣. 原本黎到al dente 係應該試一下意粉, 但朋友想食risotto 我也不便再多說.
配料有雞肉(很多), mushroom , 一片芝士和香草.
雞肉煮得太老.意大利飯吃得出用了白汁,奶油和白酒, 飯粒把精華全都吸收了. 咬下去比我們平時吃的要硬一點, 明白這也是risotto 的特色之一. 飯與飯中間還滲著一陣陣磨菇和香草的香味.

一星期前才在 lunch time匆匆來過,但那 cozy 的環境、al dente 的意粉、友善的服務態度叫我念念不忘! 所以趁 weekend 再來一趟!周末 set lunch 的價錢如平日,3-course $98 另加一。湯及沙律二選一;主菜四選一;甜品及飲品二選一。此行兩個人每人 order 了一份 set lunch - 一個 mushroom soup;一份 smoked salmon salad;兩份 medium rare西冷排;兩份 chocolate fudge cake。剛就座,侍應即細心地送上貌似海綿蛋糕的麪包,暖暖的,伴以 olive oil 及 black vinegar 同吃。Mushroom soup 很有濃郁的鮮菇味,超讚!Smoked salmon salad 很一般。西冷排賣相十分吸引,份量亦非常大,雖然肉質不算很軟腍,不過煎得很有肉香及口感 juicy!Chocolate fudge cake (忘記拍照) 伴以 vanilla ice-cream,可能因為蛋糕的朱古力很 rich 吧,感覺有點 heavy,幸好蛋糕的份量不大,連雪糕吃,一冷

剛就座,侍應即細心地送上貌似海綿蛋糕的麪包,暖暖的,伴以 olive oil 及 black vinegar 同吃。

西冷排賣相十分吸引,份量亦非常大,雖然肉質不算很軟腍,不過煎得很有肉香及口感 juicy!

Chocolate fudge cake (忘記拍照) 伴以 vanilla ice-cream,可能因為蛋糕的朱古力很 rich 吧,感覺有點 heavy,幸好蛋糕的份量不大,連雪糕吃,一冷一熱的配搭為這頓 weekend lunch來個美滿的結束!

(上回吃的 grilled chicken pasta 及 tiramisu 也十分美味)

環境方面,此店面積不大,桌子好像只有 8-10張左右,桌子間也沒有太多空間;兩回見到餐廳 lunch time 是爆滿的,幸好兩次也有訂檯。雖然 lunch time餐廳很 full,但未見嘈吵,用餐還是舒適的。

友人介紹話此間海鮮拼盤好食且並不貴於是一試, 可能係因為有人讚好食先去試, 抱有期待之心下卻失望而回.夜晚八點半左近去到, 諗住只係weekday應該walk in都ok, 不過都等左5分鐘先有得入座. 餐廳好細, 但位唔逼夾既.由於晚飯前先在老蘭飲左大大杯cocktail, 實在不感肚餓, 2個人就只叫左兩樣野, 論價錢唔算貴, 論質素就….Casear Salad($69) - 個醬唔似自己調既味道, 仲有2條疑似馬介休的咸魚, 乜Casear Salad係有伴以咸魚既咩??海鮮拼盤($179) - 份量幾大, 惟每款海鮮不論新鮮度及烹調味道都麻麻, 蝦食落有少許霉的感覺, 青口死實, 八爪魚仔有點似日式八爪魚仔既味道, 三文魚塊唔滑亦冇魚味好似烚肉一塊咁, 成個拼盤味道最正常應該係個龍脷柳. 整個拼盤感覺似係以強烈燒烤味圖蓋過不夠新鮮既海鮮, 實在差勁.

係中環做完野,心思思又想嚟SOHO搵食......叫咗set lunch....先嚟煙三文魚沙律.....不過不失,蔬菜/bell pepper新鮮爽脆,醬汁濃淡適中,夠曬開胃,份量亦好足夠煎雞扒+煙肉....底下嗰兩塊煙肉其實係同塊雞扒壓實咗先一齊煎...雞扒肉嫩滑,一D都唔韌/唔鞋,煙肉既香味滲咗入雞扒,加埋淋上面既肉汁....好好味煙肉煎過出咗油所以唔太油膩,亦無變乾柴...仲好香口...chocolate fudge cake with vanilla ice-cream朱古力蛋糕軟軟地,暖暖地,甜甜地......yummy!!

煎雞扒+煙肉....
底下嗰兩塊煙肉其實係同塊雞扒壓實咗先一齊煎...雞扒肉嫩滑,一D都唔韌/唔鞋,煙肉既香味滲咗入雞扒,加埋淋上面既肉汁....好好味

煙肉煎過出咗油所以唔太油膩,亦無變乾柴...仲好香口...

今日屋企人生日, 去咗呢間 Al Dente Soho 食dinner. 叫咗個白酒蒸青口, Beef Sirloin, Seafood Paella (西班牙海鮮飯).白酒蒸青口($78): 味道唔錯. 個汁用蕃茄, 紅椒, 磨菇,水瓜榴同牛肉湯味精粒煮成. 鹹鹹酸酸, 幾醒胃. 沙律菜伴碟. 10分滿分的話有8分.Beef Sirloin with wine sauce ($148): 買相幾好, 本來想影張相POST上嚟, 但發現唔記得帶電話. 大碟中間有薯蓉墊底, 薯蓉上有一塊紅椒, 一 塊黃椒, 紅蘿蔔, 南瓜, 西蘭花同2條豆角. 再上面係Sirloin. 塊Sirloin其實都算有牛肉味, 剛好medium, 但個面有幾重嘅牛肉精味 (supermarket賣個種寫住OX, 一粒粒正方形個隻牛肉精). 估計係燒之前用牛肉味精湯先浸過. 薯蓉應該係用sour cream同牛肉精搞嘅. 鹹咗D. 碟嘢初時都覺得幾好味,但食吓食吓就覺得味精實在太重, 開始越來越口渴, 要不斷飲水. Seafood Paella($148): 料好足, 2隻大蝦,細蝦5-6隻, 幾塊魚肉, 魷魚, 蜆. 屋企人話味道OK, 都有相當味精, 但冇塊扒咁過態.

其實呢間 Al Dente 食材唔差, 但個Chef 唔知點解樣樣嘢都要落牛肉精. 真係好可惜. 我食完飯4個鐘頭,期間飲咗4-5杯水都仲覺得非常非常非常口渴. 灣仔 Al Dente我都食過, 都冇呢個問題. SOHO呢間個Chef 真係有D問題. 但話說回來, 每樣嘢價錢都唔貴, 又食得飽, 可能係要犠牲一下味道啩? 如果大家真係好受得味精, 都可以一試嘅.

另一個問題係佢個地板都幾污槽, 好似好多油咁, 直頭會跣腳. 要改善.

Date/time of visit: 29/6 Wednesday 2:30pm

Reason for going: Following our visit to Epoch Coffee Bar at Wanchai last time, we were keen to search for a better plate of pasta, somewhere that served traditional Italian pasta. After some thoughts, we agreed that Soho of Central had a great variety of western restaurants. Most of them were owned by westerners and the quality of food must be of a high quality to serve the higher class of residents living nearby. We therefore decided to try our luck there.

The lunchtime of that day was raining dogs and cats. It was horrible. The rain was not heavy but it was the wind that made the matter worse. We could barely walk as we needed to fight with the wind. Unfortunately, we were bad navigators: we totally missed the long escalators connecting the Central MTR station and Soho. We took a longer path by climbing the steep streets instead. As a result, we were soaked by the time we arrived the restaurant after a 45 minutes walk from the MTR station.
What a great start for lunch!

Atmosphere: The restaurant was located in Staunton Street of Soho. It was quite a small restaurant comparing to other big ones nearby, yet we found the setting very homey. As the size of the shop was extremely small, the tables were closed to each other and seats were not comfortable when your shoulder is just a few inches away from the person by your side. Luckily, due to the rain, when we arrived, there were a few unoccupied tables. We were able to sit somewhere not too near to other customers.


Food: We arrived at 2:30pm; we were just in time for the lunch set which lasted until 3pm. We chose Soup of the Day, Pasta of the Day and Tiramisu with ice cream.

Soup of the Day (Cream of Mushroom)
The soup was served immediately after we had placed our order, probably because there were not many customers. A basket of bread was served alongside with the soup. We did not wait to taste the bread. To our surprise, the bread was soft and moist. It was warm and smelled of finely chopped fresh onion and herbs. We dipped the bread into some olive oil and black vinegar to enhance the taste – it was perfect.
We gave the bread a score of 9 out of 10. The soup had a fine taste, and the bread crumb in it had a herb flavor. However we found the soup too powdery. It was not smooth enough and did not blend with other ingredients. We preferred a thicker and creamier soup. Therefore we gave this soup a score of 6.5 out of 10.

Pasta of the Day (Linguine with Chicken and Mushroom in a White Wine Garlic Sauce)
The pasta was splendid! When the pasta was served, the smell of garlic combining with white wine sauce was instantly released from the dishes and straight into our nostrils.
It was a very pleasurable virtual appetite without even trying the dish. The ingredients, chicken and mushroom, were cooked very well. The texture of the linguine was just right and we liked it. The portion of pasta was good enough for our appetite, we were not bloated when we finished. However we would recommend the dish be made less salty so that customers needed not keep drinking water. For the pasta, we gave a score of 8 out of 10.

Tiramisu with ice cream
Expectations do not necessary get fulfilled when you have your hopes too high. This is true to our dessert. We anticipated a great ending to our meal – however, the dessert was too small comparing to our previous courses. The tiramisu was not smooth enough, not moisturized and not creamy at all. As for the ice cream, it was awful! It was the worst ice cream I ever had.
A three-star hotel’s tea buffet would do better than that. The vanilla ice cream was below average as it easily melted and tasted very artificial and had absolutely no vanilla taste at all. We gave this course a score of 3.5 out of 10.

Service: The service was very good! The staff was nice and friendly. Most of the staff were Italians and were passionate about the quality of food and servicing. We could feel their genuine and sincere attitude. However, towards the end of our meal, we were rushed to leave as they had to fix their lights. It could have been better if we could stay longer to dry ourselves before we fought with the rain again.

Overall, I think Al Dente was a good restaurant. I would like to visit it again to try out other soups and pasta of the day if I happen to pass by since there is no distinct aspect that attracts me to travel all the way from Kowloon.

Mussels - 好野味,青口好大隻,個汁好好味。Caesar Salad - 他們下了鯷魚幾特別,但啲羅馬生菜有少少苦味。Pasta al-dente - 好好味,材料好豐富,有雞肉和蝦,啲雞肉好嫩滑,個汁都好好味。Spaghetti Carbonara - 個汁好稀好奶,但個意粉都煮得好彈牙。Pizza al-dente - 好多芝士,好好食。西班牙海鮮燴飯 - 海鮮大什燴,有少少似係澳門食的燴飯,唔錯。整體唔錯,價錢經濟,一大班人聚會或情侶拍拖都是不錯的選擇。

年廿九, 難得能跟上司及一班同事同檯食飯 :-D首先上桌的是一籃麵包, 麵包的口感有點像蛋糕, 不過麵包本身沒甚麼味道, 建議醮桌上的橄欖油和黑醋吃 (雖然我並沒有這樣做)蕃茄濃湯, 雖然沒有試喝, 但看上去很足料雜菜沙律, 除了蔬菜外, 有火腿、小蕃茄、提子、蘋果、桃整碟的份量很大, 但因dressing酸酸甜甜挺能開胃, 把整碟吃罷仍能挑戰主菜!我選的主菜是Grilled sirloin steak燒西冷扒翻開厚厚的西冷扒, 下面有蘿蔔、紅椒、豆角、南瓜、西蘭花和薯茸不過我的那份Medium卻過熟了: (抽水吃的Pasta of the day果真夠Al dente!忘了菜名的嫩口雞扒, 雖然嫩口但還未稱得上滑溜最後是各位同事吃到撐也要吃的甜品!Chocolate Fudge Cake with ice-cream微暖的蛋糕配著正在溶化的雪糕球實在令人太滿足了!雪糕稍嫌不夠香滑, 不過既然不是店方製作就不能太高要求了: P一眾同事吃到捧著肚子, 每位才$88+10%, 很滿足!希望還有機會再跟上司和同事和諧地用餐吧

Chocolate Fudge Cake with ice-cream
微暖的蛋糕配著正在溶化的雪糕球實在令人太滿足了!
雪糕稍嫌不夠香滑, 不過既然不是店方製作就不能太高要求了: P

一眾同事吃到捧著肚子, 每位才$88+10%, 很滿足!
希望還有機會再跟上司和同事和諧地用餐吧

整體我覺得食物質量是貴、服務不足之處而且呢間餐廳枱密密麻麻很迫唔舒服。

普通的橙汁要$38,唔值。

Went to another Al Dente company restaurant before- Cenacolo Steak & Pasta at SOHO ( SERVICE is really BAD), so this time gonna try Al DENTE SOHO...Thanks my friend for making rsvp at 7PM.We ended up arriving the restaurant around 720pm or so , and it's good that we do not need to wait and the waitress leaded us to 2nd floor.Jeez, the restaurant is really packed and tiny...After we sat down, the waitress kept introducing the wine to us ( as we do not have ANY interest in any wine)Only 5 of us or

We've reminded the waitress several times until she finally gave us TAB WATER ( at first she gave us bottle water -__- )
The water tasted like detergent ( However, she claimed it's LEMON water - =_=, i've been drinking lemon water everyday but i never tasted lemon like that )
We've ordered 1 salmone pizza, 1 parma ham w/ melon, 1 Clam as appetizer to share.
the PIZZA is really thin, and GREAT....
Clam i heard it's good too =P

After that, main dishes finally arrive ( have waited for another 15-20mins since the kitchen is PACKED as well )
THe pasta is really really good..
The one I ordered- Chicken chunks w/ tomato sauce . I've eaten up the whole plate.

Finally, after 2 hrs at the restaurant and my fd gave me a surprise and got me e a cake XD, and I ordered tiramisu before as well ( the waitress did not reconfirm w/ me if I want the tiramisu after the cake arrived - ended up the tiramisu came after we cut the cake, and I have to TAKE AWAY the tiramisu using a box and had it during movie time afterwards )
This restaurant does have 切餅費 but we have to cut the cake by ourselves as they are really NOT ATTENTIVE on this.
!!! Next time if I go again, I might need to have 3 hrs staying there as the food come really slow and fully 3 hrs might give me better digestion.
Haha.
