I was the first to arrive at the restaurant, so I browsed the menu while I waited for my mom and sister. They ended up being about 15 minutes late, but it never occurred to the wait staff to serve me a glass of water while I waited. They ended up being about 15 minutes late, but it never occurred to the wait staff to serve me a glass of water while I waited. They also kept themselves hidden away, so I had to wait for someone to emerge from the kitchen before I could ask for a glass of water.

Even after we've all looked at the menu and ordered, the staff did not bring my mom or sister any water. Giving your customers water is the most basic level of service, but they have not managed to get this right. I had to ask the waitress for water yet again. The waitress gave me a look like I was inconveniencing her.
The same waitresses later sets out our cutlery for us, but she somehow gave forks and knives to my mom and sister, both of whom had ordered a spaghetti dish. I ask her why they would need the knives for pasta, and she gives me another look and finally comes back with spoons for them. Major attitude problem.

Food wise, the spicy seafood pasta dishes were delicious. However, my cobb salad, which I've had before at their Soho branch, was absolutely dire this time around. The dressing was practically nonexistent. I ask the waitress for some more dressing and she goes into the kitchen, only to come back with a teaspoon's worth of extra dressing. Predictably, I had to ask for dressing a second time. 
題外話/補充資料: All in all, the food wasn't bad, but I will never go back to this restaurant again because of the poor service.

To celebrate my lovely sister's belated birthday, I dinned at this restaurant last night with her and my two lovely cousins.Decor:We sat inside, but there were tables outside too. To celebrate my lovely sister's belated birthday, I dinned at this restaurant last night with her and my two lovely cousins.

Decor:
We sat inside, but there were tables outside too. Since it was a pretty breezy night, sitting outside wouldn't have been bad. 
 The good side of sitting inside though is that you get to admire all the wine bottles. There were hundreds of wine bottles neatly sitting on the wall and others standing in the centre waiting to be ordered. 
 There were candles lit at every table, very romantic but it was a little too dark since I noticed that I wasn't the only one who had problems reading the menu. Haha. I saw many people using the flashlight on their phones while looking at the menu. What a funny scene. 
 Anyways, it had a really nice and laid back environment.

Service & Hygiene:
I have not much to say about hygiene and service as both were pretty decent. The staff were efficient and the food came out efficiently as well. I didn't notice anything that made me question the hygiene of the staff and restaurant.
 
Taste & Value:
Since there were so many delicious-looking food choices, we decided to order some drinks first, and then order food. Happy hour is until 8 pm so we got a good deal on our drinks.
The drinks we ordered were : a Piña colada (HH Price $45), Farewell ($45), Green destiny ($45), and 2 glasses of white white ( $150, it was a sweet one, but I forgot the name). The drinks were good; tasted like alcohol you know. 
 Haha. After a few sips, we decided on 3 starters and 4 mains.

Starter 1: Garlic Fries ($68)
THEY WERE AMAZING! 
 None of us could stop eating them. On top of the perfectly cooked fries, there was garlic,and alongside there was also garlic mayo, so the double "garlic"ness was absolutely to die for. This was everybody's favourite!
 We almost ordered a second one!

Starter 2: Camembert Mushroom Brushetta ($98) 
One order came with 3 pieces. The Camembert cheese was really nice, and there was some crunchy threads underneath that were probably onions, which was a bit weird. I didn't really like that, but together with the cheese, mushrooms, bread and nut, it was nice.

Starter 3: Dungeness Crab and Artichoke Dip ($118)
The dip was thick and cheesy and you could definately taste the crab in it. 
 To complement the dip, there were a lot of freshly deep-fried nachos. 
 This dish was okay, but I thought the dip lacked taste.

Main 1: Mac & Cheese with truffle oil ($98)
This was the first main to come. I've never thought too highly of mac & cheese because it is so easy to make and no matter where you eat it, the taste doesn't change much. However, the truffle oil made this a really tasty dish.The pasta was al dente, but the truffle oil was definitely the star of the dish. It was strong and we all loved it. I recommend this dish.

Main 2: Vintage Steak ($168)
We were all surprised by the size of this dish. 
 Since it was a steak, we were expecting a small piece of meat with six slices max, but there were at least 20 slices. 
 Don't be overwhelmed by the beef though, as there was a lot of arugula underneath; making the dish less heavy. The beef was tender and juicy and the gravy that accompanied it was pretty good as well. You could taste the beef juices in the gravy so you know it was housemade and not made from powder. The beef tasted good by itself and dipped in the gravy.

Main 3: Softshell crab Sliders ( $88- 2 pcs) 
Since there were 4 of us, the best way to go was to order 2 pieces and cut them in half. 

I love softshell crab so I suggested these sliders, and they didn't let us down. The crab was fried nicely and wasn't limp. It came with a sauce on the side, which I think was some kind of paprika mayo, cayenne mayo?? It wasn't bad, but i liked the slider without the sauce more because I could taste the crab better.

Main 4: Beef Sliders ($98- 2pcs)
Last but not least, cousin T is a die hard burger fan so we had to get these beef sliders. 
These sliders just came with ketchup instead of a special sauce. However, don't underestimate the ketchup. You could tell that it was housemade and not Heinz or whatever because it had a fresh sweetness to it. I liked the ketchup. 
 Maybe because we had the steak before these sliders, the beef in these burgers instantly tasted less delicious, but still they weren't bad and there was a lot of cheese. 
 This was probably our least favourite dish out of the 4 mains.

Final Verdict:
We all agreed that this was a fine restaurant and that we would be back for sure. It was less expensive that I thought so it's a good choice if you just want to chill and have some western food.

Noticed this branch of California Vintage which was a lot bigger than their Central store. Overall was really well lit, had friendly staff, and was spacious and comfortable. Started off with a few oysters each, which were nice and fresh, not the juiciest, but given they were half price, pretty good value for money.

Then got into some real food. Tried the mushroom and camembert bruschetta which was really nice with some caramelised onions in the middle. A really simple dish, but done real well. Perhaps a bit overpriced, but I guess you are paying a bit for the environment too.

Also got their mixed sliders, which were soft shelled crab, salmon, and minced beef patties. They were all quite good on their own, but also very small (even allowing that they were just sliders). They came with a few different sauces to sample, but none were good enough to write home about.

Overall experience was very pleasant though. Will be back to try out the scallop and avocado salad or their tacos. It is a nice place to feel like you are in the states or anywhere else with a more western vibe. And their wine tasting selection is huge!

I booked an early table for two, as it is half price oysters and wine from 6-8pm every day. Taking advantage of this we ordered a couple of French oysters which were $30 each. They were large, plump, juicy, very flavourful and perfect with just a couple of drops of lemon juice. We were lucky the evening that we went, that a couple of Californians were in the restaurant showcasing some exclusive reds and whites and paired my girlfriend's oyster with a crisp, slightly metalic white, which worked v

We were lucky the evening that we went, that a couple of Californians were in the restaurant showcasing some exclusive reds and whites and paired my girlfriend's oyster with a crisp, slightly metalic white, which worked very well indeed. 
For food we wanted a variety of snacks, so ordered Korean beef tacos which were small, but the beef was very tender and melted in the mouth. (We ordered a starter portion of two, for a main you are served three). 
We also had Dungeness Crab Stuffed Piquillo Peppers which was was rammed with full bodied crab meat and apple. Three came on a plate and they were good snack size for the two of us. They came on a bed of lightly dressed rocket leaves. 
We felt obliged to try the house garlic fries and weren't disappointed. Imagine your favourite garlic bread recipe, and then transfer it onto thin cut, crisp fries. They were excellent and didn't need the addition of the home-made ketchup, nice as it was. Though being from England, I baulked at the prospect of paying $68 for a bag of chips. 
Still not sated, we opted for the deep fried calamari. Instead of rings of flesh we were served a plate of lightly battered tentacles and a sweet and sour sauce. Far from disappointing, these were again very pleasant and light, not tough as they can be if badly prepared. 
To finish (right before happy hour ended) we had a couple of full glasses of red, my girlfriend choosing a 2009 Venge Silencieux, while I went for a 2009 Fleury Lucky 8. delicious and full bodied, these had deep fresh berries notes with an after taste of dried fruits such as raisins and prunes. 
Not a restaurant I would go to every day, but service was prompt and helpful, the addition of the visiting suppliers was a bonus and the ambience was chilled, jovial and friendly.

頭盤小吃配襯來自North Coast的Schramsbery Blanc de Noirs香檳,色澤微帶金黃色,聞起來有一種清新果香,氣泡不算纖細,但配合冰涼的溫度,飲得開懷,伴魚的菜式是合適不過。

Grilled Swordfish with Pico de Gallo
烤劍魚表面香口乾身,而肉質又能保持嫩滑,配上Pico de Gallo墨西哥醬汁同吃,開胃清新。

緊接第二款海鮮類的菜式蜆肉linguini,蜆肉的鮮味不太強,相反溶入湯汁內,吃起linguini時更好味,但略嫌他的質感偏軟一點。

Chocolate Pot de Crème
Chocolate pot朱古力味道香濃,配上忌廉及餅碎同吃,口感豐富,雖然份量不多,他的味道香甜濃厚,大家也吃得滿足。

NV Kachina Vintage Port, Dry Creek
最後一款酒品是來自Dry Creek的NV Kachina Vintage Port,屬甜品酒,他的酒精由甜味中散發出來,是容易入口。

是晚吃得開懷暢飲,除了喜愛這裡的氣氛,他的酒品及菜式絶對合適Happy Hour的好去處,酒品消費彈性選擇,加州菜式也具特色,一連試了七款酒品,從中也尋覓自己的口味。

Quesadilla with Braised Pork and House made Guacamole,pair with 2011 Acorn Rostao,Russian River Valley,墨西哥夾餅餡有豬肉跟芝士,芝士味道雖濃,但也可嚐到肉香。喜愛跟著自家製的牛油果醬來吃,另外還有酸忌廉及Salsa醬,餅皮帶脆,比Taco好吃。這款紅酒以Sangiovese、Dolcetto、Cabernet Franc及Viognier四款葡萄來釀製。紅酒味道頗有層次,跟著墨西哥餅同吃,夾起來餘韻帶有點桃香。

Beef Tri-Tip Slider with Chipotle Aioli & Gilroy Garlic Fries,pair with 2010 Venge "Silencieux" Cabernet Sauvignon,Napa。小漢堡包身鬆軟,夾著牛肉及微辣的醬汁,口感濕潤,又不失肉香,而薯條新鮮炸起熱燙口,香脆誘人,令人不自覺吃完又再吃一條。再喝口較濃的紅酒,酒體較飽滿,也夾口感較豐富的肉類。

Grilled Swordfish with Pico de Gallo,& San Fran Clam Linguini,2010 Stillman St. Chardonnay, Alexander Valley。厚身的劍魚柳肉質挺質,但也嫩滑,質感是意料之外的好,魚肉不會乾身,亦有肉汁,喜歡吃這菜式。至於蜆肉意粉,意粉偏腍,味道亦有點鹹,還是魚柳好吃。這兩菜式都跟了白酒,酒的酸度比剛喝的稍低,像帶少許檸檬香,而且口感圓潤,跟海鮮吃最適合。

最後甜品Chocolate Pot de Creme,朱古力忌廉打得很滑,又帶濃稠,可可味濃郁不太甜,很合個人口味。配的甜酒NV Kachina Vintage Port,Dry Creek,甜度不會很高,喝口平衡可可甘。

California Vintage其中最特別之處就是餐廳中央的自助酒機,你可以插入智能卡來買酒,有大(一杯),中(半杯),小(試飲)三個份量。通常試新酒的時候我會先買杯小的,喜歡的話再來一杯大的。顧名思義, California Vintage供應大量來自美國加州的紅,白酒。最近,餐廳邀請了我去吃一個wine-pairing晚餐,發現多款伴酒的菜式味道也十分不錯!

Opened in September 2012, California Vintage in Brim 28, Wanchai is the second outlet of a hip restaurant and bar following the success of its first branch on Wyndham Street. The spacious interior of the restaurant has a laid-back, wine country-inspired set-up, with a row of eye-catching Enomatic wine dispensers placed in the middle of the dining room and empty glass bottles adorning its walls.

California Vintage is known for their unique collection of Californian wines, and has partnerships with 22 family-owned wineries from which they source a variety of wines. This helps to keep costs down and to give customers better value for money as the restaurant doesn't have to pay distributors for their wines. You can insert a smart card into the automatic wine dispenser to buy wine in one of the three different sizes: taster, half-glass or full-glass. My friends and I love coming here, as the interactive system is great for friends' gathering. On the other hand, if you come with someone you are not familiar with, the wine dispenser is a great excuse to get away from the table if you run of things to talk about. Last week, I was invited to attend a Chef's Dinner at the restaurant, and the menu featured 7 dishes each paired with a different wine.

(1) We started off with the California Taco with Baja Fish, paired with a glass of 2008 Schramsberg Blanc de Noirs from North Coast, which was a medium-bodied, brut sparkling wine. The batter-fried fish, served on soft corn tortillas, was simple and satisfying, and the sour cream, shredded cabbage and chopped tomatoes added a variety flavours to it. My only complaint was that it wasn't salty enough. The acidity of the wine helped cut through the fattiness of this dish.

(2) The Dungeness Crab and Artichoke Dip was well received at the table. The dip was made with very rich and stringy cheese (which ended up getting all over the table, not that we minded!), and it was irresistible. It was paired with a glass of 2011 Cass "Flying Nymph" White from Paso Robles, with a composition of 56% Viognier, 32% Marsanne and 12% Roussanne. It was a fruity wine, with flavours of white peach, ripe banana and Granny Smith apple, a kick of dried pineapple and finishing notes of honeydew melon and Tahitian lime.

(3) The Quesadilla with Braised Pork and House made Guacamole was fabulous to snack on while we drank. The braised pork was tender and juicy, and the quesadilla, dipped in guacamole and sour cream, was very tasty. This was paired with a glass of 2011 Acorn Rosato, from Russian River Valley. It was a vineyard blend of 54% Sangiovese, 25% Dolcetto, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Viognier. It was a crisp, dry and full flavoured wine, with notes of bright cherry and hints of raspberry, plum, and white peach.

(4) This moreishly cheesy Marin Camembert and Mushroom Bruschetta was paired with 2010 Cass Grenache from Paso Robles, an acidic white wine with notes of ripe cherries, dried strawberries, savory charcuterie, cherry, strawberry jam and pomegranate, finishing with notes of cedar. The melting texture of the camembert was alluring, and when combined with mushrooms and walnut, formed a delightful snack.

(5) The Beef Tri-Tip Slider with Chipotle Aioli looked and tasted gorgeous. The tri-tip sliders were fatty and succulent, and the little bun was indulgent. It was served with some Gilroy Garlic Fries, which was best, I thought, if dipped in lots of mayonnaise! A glass of 2010 Venge "Silencieux" Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa, a full-bodied wine with notes of blackberry, cassis, liquorice and coffee, was paired with these two treats.

(6) A plate of Grilled Swordfish with Pico de Gallo followed. The swordfish was well grilled and juicy, and it was of a good thickness. We were also served some San Fran Clam Linguini, but while I liked the plump, fresh-tasting clams, I wished the seasoning of the pasta was a bit heavier. This was paired with a glass of 2010 Stillman St. Chardonnay from Alexander Valley, with medium acidity and notes of Anjou pear, green apple, ripe grapefruit and peach blossom.

(7) The portions were manageable, but due to all the wine we drank, I was already bursting at the seams by the time we had our dessert, the Chocolate Pot de Crème. It was wonderfully rich and creamy, and I managed to polish it off (thanks to the presence of my dessert stomach)! It was paired with a sweet wine, NV Kachina Vintage Port from Dry Creek, an intense sweet wine with notes of cassis, currant, and plum.

If you wish to learn more about wines, the restaurant regularly hosts wine tastings, food-and-wine pairing events or wine-pairing dinner menus.

California Taco with Baja Fish: 7分, 而頭盤的食物就是taco, 對我來講, taco實是老朋友一般, 在加州的日子, 當然吃過不少taco, 實是Hispanic最主要的食糧之一. 是晚吃到的, 質感不俗, 配上的魚塊是幾香脆的, 跟蕃茄及生菜同吃, 效果不錯.

2011 Cass "Flying Nyumph" White, Paso Robles: 第二款酒是白酒, 就是Cass "Flying Nyumph" White, 來自Paso Robles, 就在101 freeway旁邊, 也是San Luis Obispo附近的地方. 此款酒相比之下是比較甜的, 跟Blanc de Noirs比, 會比較喜歡前者多一點.

Dungeness Crab and Artichoke Dip: 7分, 配襯這款白酒的又是典型的墨西哥食物, 對, 加州菜跟墨西哥菜其實不太分得開, 看看加州的Hiapanic比例就大概知道. 這黑墨西哥脆片, 是相當香脆, 點上芝士醬同吃, 中間還加上蟹肉及阿支竹, 送酒一流.

2011 Acorn Rostao, Russian River Valley: 第三款酒是Acorn Rostao, 來自Russian River Valley, 位於北加州, 近Santa Rosa. 這款玫瑰紅酒, 酒精度不太高, 是比較平易近人的, 就算女孩子喝也很適合.

Quesadilla with Braised Pork and House made Guacamole: 7分, 配上玫瑰酒的就是quesadilla, 又是墨西哥的菜色, 中間的餡料是豬肉跟芝士, 是幾香口的. 配上guacamole醬汁, 牛油果味香濃. 不過一連三道墨西哥菜色, 其實是有點漏了.

2010 Cass Grenache, Paso Robles: 第四款酒是Cass Grenache, 也是來自Paso Robles這個地方. 這款紅酒, 用來配上濃烈一點的菜色就很合宜.

Marin Camembert and Mushroom Bruschetta: 8分, 其實前幾款菜色也像是派對吃到的小食, 如這客bruschetta, 是相當的香屠, 那層Camembert芝士實是亮點, 相當的香濃, 再加上野菌, 是幾惹味的配搭. 吃一口bruschetta, 再配一口Cass Grenache, 滿足.

2010 Venge "Silencieux" Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa: 到了第五款酒品, 就是Venge "Silencieux" Cabernet Sauvignon, 來自Napa的出品. 當然, Napa這個地方是大家最熟悉的加州酒品出產地, 這款紅酒, 果味是比較重的, 飲落口是幾順口的, 有水準.

Beef Tri-Tip Slider with Chipotle Aioli: 7分, 配紅酒的, 當然是紅肉, 這客迷你漢堡, 包身夠鬆軟, 中間的牛肉帶肉味, 不過有點點實, 但配上那相當惹味的Chipotle Aioli, 馬上提升了這客漢堡的食味.

Gilroy Garlic Fries: 8分, 對加州人來講, 吃薯條也是一餐中常見的主食. 這客薯條是熱辣辣, 相當的香脆, 帶點蒜蓉香, 精彩! 見妹妹更是差不多吃光一整碟, 可見水準實是不俗.

2010 Stillman St. Chardonnay, Alexander Valley: 到了第六款酒品, 就是Stillman St. Chardonnay, 來自Alexander Valley的出品, 也是近Santa Rosa的地方. 主理人在介紹的時候也特別指出他是在做一個比較特別的安排, 就是在喝完紅酒之後, 是往回走喝白酒. 當然, 因為配襯的是魚, 也變得是合情合理的安排. 這款白酒, 是幾清新的, 跟swordfish是匹配的組合.

Grilled Swordfish with Pico de Gallo: 7分, 就這樣看, 還以為是豬扒呢, 其實是煎劍魚, 煎得幾香口, 魚肉嫩滑, 配上Pico de Gallo這款墨西哥醬汁同吃, 是幾開胃的.

NV Kachina Vintage Port, Dry Creek: 最後一款酒品是NV Kachina Vintage Port, 來自Dry Creek, 也是近Santa Rosa附近的地方. 既然是甜品酒, 當然甜度是比較重, 不過酒精度也不低, 更能去平衡朱古力的濃烈感.

Chocolate Pot de Crème: 7分, 這客chocolate pot, 朱古力味道是相當的香濃, 配上忌廉及餅碎同吃, 一客份量輕宜, 就算大家已經很飽, 也忍不住吃光這客甜品呢.

是晚一口氣試了七款酒品, 配襯九道菜色, 實在是相當豐富的一夜. 看看餐牌, 其實這裡不少菜色的價位也是$100上下, 不算是太貴. 這裡的加州菜, 是幾地道的. 加州人會喜歡, 就算不是加州人, 來到這裡喝喝酒, 再吃點加州/墨西哥菜色, 也是不俗的選擇.

我不是酒鬼,但對葡萄酒也有著一份情意結,覺得美酒配美食,絕對可令一頓昇華。上週三,有幸得到California Vintage的邀請,來到灣仔Brim 28新店品嚐Wine-pairing Chef dinner;雖然每杯只能淺嗜,感覺也是無比滿足盡興,同時眼界大開!  灣仔新店佔地比蘭桂芳店大多了,除了提供悠閒舒適的環境,給酒客愉快碰杯暢飲,另外也供應深具加洲風味的菜餚。店內樓底很高,牆上也放置了大量酒樽,相信酒鬼老公來到一定很高興! 下圖是我們當晚品嚐美酒佳餚的餐檯了,個人超喜歡那照片牆還有酒木桶,很能帶出一個活生生的酒莊故事,更用餐氣氛添增。  而比起環境更加醉人,也定必令酒鬼老公更興奮的,是背後的超大量藏酒機。這部機總共有4個面向,提供的葡萄酒選擇高達90款之多(CV合作的酒莊達22個, 所以葡萄酒的選擇真的很多很廣泛!),可謂冠絕香港! 而酒客可選擇試酒小半杯、半杯或大半杯,而最便宜的小半杯份葡萄酒只是$12起,每天3-8pm(包括週六日)更有happy hour半價優惠,當晚見到部份HH優惠價真的有「眼都突」之感呢!    也是時間展開由大廚及韓藉餐廳經理精心安排的Chef

也是時間展開由大廚及韓藉餐廳經理精心安排的Chef's dinner,當晚共品嚐了七道菜(其實還不只...),各配以風味各異的加洲美酒,讓美酒佳餚產生最美妙的化學作用! 首先是2008 Schramsbery Blanc de Noirs, North Coast,這款氣泡酒是香檳的同類,輕嚐之下但覺氣泡酒極其清新,口感細緻,是非常理想的餐前開胃酒。

Dungeness Crab and Artichoke Dip又是超得我歡心,中間大大兜的熱暖芝士醬極其濃厚,混以蟹肉及阿支竹後更是口味豐富迷人,無論是將香脆的墨西哥脆片點之同吃,或是淨食都很一流! 成品是鬼佬份量,超大的一份吃得非常滿足;我還特地瞄了瞄i-pad餐牌,原來定價不過$118,很抵食呢!

然後有2011 Acorn Rostao, Russian River Valley,這款色澤極其迷人的玫瑰紅酒,味道很易入口,打破了rose好看不好飲的迷思。同上的是
Quesadilla with Braised Pork and House made Guacamole,又是好吃的幾乎令人抓狂,因為熱暖鬆化的餡餅內滿是香濃的半融芝士,混和豬肉後奇香誘人,再混上微辣Salsa醬、sour cream及牛油果醬,那豐富多變的滋味實在太動人了! 散點價只是$98個人認為是超抵食,筆時也好想再來重溫呢。

第4款美酒是2010 Cass Grenache, Paso Robles,據知是款挺有名的紅酒,不過種類太多,印象比較迷糊,只記得當晚的酒都算易入口,並不會很澀。同上的
Marin Camembert and Mushroom Bruschetta就印象深刻了,因為厚厚一層Camembert芝士味道相當濃烈,襯以合桃及野菌再放上脆多士,口味鮮明風味突出,個人也挺喜歡。

與大部分人一樣,在加洲中最熟悉的酒產地就是Napa Valley(雖然,原來它只佔去加洲4%的葡萄酒出產量!),接著第5款也是2010 Venge "Silencieux" Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa。它的口味明顯較為強烈,果香突出,但同時也柔滑順口,不錯的。這回同上的食物有兩款,首先是
Beef Tri-Tip Slider with Chipotle Aioli,迷你漢堡除了小巧可愛,味道也很認真,包身熱暖鬆軟,中間的牛肉層更是相當香口充滿肉味,襯以微辣墨西哥風味沙律醬,很美味可口!

Gilroy Garlic Fries,成品香脆滿有薯香,同時帶有淡淡蒜香更加動人,再配上個人至愛的沙律醬一同上檯,絕對有令人吃個不停的魅力,真是美味邪惡得非常可怕!

大廚很有心思,最後一道主菜竟然一反其行,改上2010 Stillman St. Chardonnay, Alexander Valley白酒;在吃完牛肉、漢堡、薯條等食物後,那份清新感實在令人煥然一新! 配的主菜也有兩款,先是
Grilled Swordfish with Pico de Gallo,劍魚柳相當厚身,煎得香口吸引,但同時保留魚汁魚鮮及嫩滑感,味道十分討好,很飽也整件吃光了!

來到甜品環節,甜酒是NV Kachina Vintage Port, Dry Creek,甜度與果香都很重;配上的甜品
Chocolate Pot de Creme,別看它小小一兜,朱古力味可真夠濃厚,加上輕滑的忌廉及脆口的餅碎,絕對可以俘虜朱古力魔的心。

多謝店方邀請,真是很滿足的一夜,除了肚子的飽足,又見到CV於推廣葡萄酒,以及美酒配搭美食文化可謂不遺餘力,如現時每週三7-9pm都有葡萄酒品酒會,費用不貴只是$200,酒客還可享受免費配搶的輕膳;還有,先前提到的超值HH半價優惠(其實半價的還包括生蠔呢!),也讓我也下定決心,遲些一定要帶酒鬼老公再去朝聖兼回味!

Attracted by the lunch menu and value so went in for a quick bite. The salad dressing was all oil, no flavor - yuck. The prime rib was overcooked yet cool temperature - ??? The meat was served on a piece of bread. When I lifted the meat, the bread had soaked up the oil. The fries were tasty - the homemade ketchup, not so much. The portions are super small. The lady next to me ordered prime rib and her portion was much larger - Boo for consistency. The desert, or should I say "tartlet" wa

I often bring my girl friends here after dinner because they have an excellent selection of wines. Today was the first time I tried their food and I ordered the garlic fries and paired it with a sparkling wine as per their recommendation. The fries were good but what really made them stand out was the homemade tomato sauce. Don't expect to have a fulfilling meal. Just snacks and drinks. But the street level view and the seating make this a pretty cool place for a few ladies to just hang out.

外貌如花 (不是指周星馳的 friend 「如花」。。。) 的是套餐頭盤。美國甜椒去皮,內裡釀入的全是鮮蟹肉,真的是整個都釀得滿滿!蟹肉鮮甜,沒有夾雜碎的蟹殼 (這點很重要!),手工心思俱備。

午餐主菜有四款選擇,價錢各有不同。第一款的烤薄牛扒,肉燒得挺焦香,而且肉汁仍能保持,烤功不錯。我一向不太喜歡吃焗豆,怕它質感太粉太乾,令人吃得太飽。這款隨牛扒另配的西班牙式焗豆我卻覺得弄得不錯,內裡仍混和不少惹味醬汁,很濕潤,用來沾肉吃是可以「一雞兩味」,又當醬汁又可當成澱粉質配菜,不用跟飯。

份量是大碟得驚人!坊間通常 barbecue sauce 都是用來焗排骨,甚少用來弄三文魚,這個新鮮的組合調味的確甚似燒排骨,卻比排骨多一份三文魚肉油滋滋的味道。還有那堆高如山的沙律菜,吃罷是飽都不行!

另外散點的焗野生北美深海帶子,滿有牛油香,用來配 sparkling wine 該會很不錯。

Tacos 有如粟米片,分別上放炸魚柳加生菜及酸忌廉,及豬肉加紅椒絲,甚有墨西哥風情。美國與墨西哥是鄰國嘛,飲食文化也互相受到影響。

炸魚那款調味很淡,而且炸魚肉腍身了一點,反而我更愛豬肉那款的惹味。

是次光臨是中午時份,未有喝酒,期待下次晚市再來可以試盡一系列美式菜配加州酒的 pairing !
