coyote氣氛相當不錯,今次去他們搞緊一些beach party,成地都係沙,如果怕整污糟對鞋或怕入沙就不要去了。叫了兩杯margaritas,一杯Lime一杯Mango,好在他們可以選擇同on rocks or slush,仲有叫了一客wings on fire,說老實,buffalo wings真係味道好過佢呢個整法,唔夠香也唔夠辣,但汁近泰式多過墨式。

Coyote Bar & Grill is a Mexican restaurant and bar located in the heart of Wanchai. The restaurant has two floors, with the bar located on the ground floor and a dining area located upstairs.

With an upbeat atmosphere and a good selection of food and drinks, this restaurant and bar is a popular venue which is usually bustling throughout the entire week. Last week, I went there for a preview of the Star Trek Into Darkness promotional menu, which will be available from 13 May 2013 to 9 June 2013. As a Star Trek fan, I was really excited about the meal, as each dish was named after a character in the movie. Besides a Star Trek theme, Tabasco brand sauces are also used in each of the dishes and drinks, so be prepared for a spicy kick!

(1) We started off with Captain Kirk's Chicken Wings (HOT) ($75). The six pieces of USA chicken, tossed in a Tabasco habanero sauce, were full of flavour in each bite and were tender and moist in the middle. Their flavours were complemented by a jalapeno and cilantro dip, which was creamy and delicious. Beware though - the chicken really was very hot!

(2) The tiger prawns in Scotty's Skewers ($98) were well marinated and nicely grilled, and the chorizo and tomatoes also added bright notes to the dish. The Tabasco infused cocktail sauce, which tasted a bit like ketchup as it was a tad sweet, was excellently garlicky.

(3) As Spock is quite a character, this Spock's Seafood Paella ($178) also had exotic tastes to match the personality of its namesake. The paella, slow cooked in a Tabasco spiced tomato sauce, was a tad too mushy and soft, but the flavouring was awesome - a hint of sourness and spiciness made it incredibly moreish. The seafood, such as the mussels, prawns and squids, were also satisfyingly fresh, and a dash of lime juice lifted the flavours of the dish.

(4) Sulu's Sea Bass ($175) exceeded our expectations. The pan-seared, cumin-crusted fish was dry and crunchy on the surface, while still tender and juicy underneath. It was served with sautéed yam, oregano potatoes and garlic spinach, all cooked to a great texture. The sauce was a Tabasco brand chipotle béarnaise, which worked well with the fish.

(5) The Ibarra Fudge Brownie ($55) was warm, buttery and soft, and was fantastically matched with an icy scoop of vanilla ice cream. (This dessert is on the normal à la carte menu.)

(6) I tried a Star Trek-themed cocktail, Mango Uhura ($68), made with white rum, lime juice, mango purée, a dash of Tabasco brand pepper sauce and a splash of soda. It was syrupy and fruity, but also had a fiery spicy kick; I liked how the spiciness was balanced out by the sweetness of the drink.

Have you seen this chair at Coyote before? This is "The Barber Chair", and the person sitting on it will have drinks tilted down their throat! Unsurprisingly, people who sit on this chair are almost never volunteers - they are often sponsored by their friends.

The food at this down-to-earth restaurant and bar was surprisingly decent. The downstairs bar area might be too noisy for an intimate dinner, so you could consider booking a table in the second-floor dining area, which is quieter and more spacious. This menu seems to be a pretty tasty, interesting and spicy way to celebrate the release of Star Trek Into Darkness in Hong Kong!

墨西哥菜在香港來說不是大路的菜式,早前吃過了位於鰂魚涌的Taco小店,而早年在老蘭也有一所走高格調的墨西哥菜館子Izote,本人當年未寫食評也去吃過,皆因本人對於異國菜,雖說不上懂,但至少是接受得來的。是日有幸收到公關公司的邀請,跟一眾食友來喝杯酒,吃吃各式墨西哥食物,好讓平常生活勞碌的大家,暫時放下沉重的包袱,享受場內強勁節奏的音樂,始終在灣仔尾駱克道的這一條酒吧街,如此的佈局也是少不了,但隱藏背後的是一道又一道既有特式,又惹味好吃的墨西哥菜。說店家認真,其實不單只在南美式的歌舞表演,光是看看那Wall of Flame,就知道店家是有多麼的認真,素知墨西哥愛吃辣,也能吃辣,集合各式各樣的辣椒汁,比起我們只懂Tabasco,說來嗜辣的我實在也興奮無比了。先來的是Quesadilla with Chicken,其實是一款夾有芝士的夾餅,故名思意,此夾餅內的芝士餡也混上了雞肉,夾餅來得薄身,卻又香脆之外,裡頭芝士帶來軟綿的口感,使得其內外予人雙重的口感,也有十足的芝味及一定的肉香,嫌它單調嗎?蘸點辣椒汁就行了,不過吃了噴火就別怪人家了。另外一款小吃貌似廣東人常吃的春卷,其實名為Smoke

另外一款小吃貌似廣東人常吃的春卷,其實名為Smoked Pulled Pork Chimichangas,這款小吃其實就連美國南部的人也喜歡吃,不過人家通常會用上Tortilla包着各式醬汁及肉吃,所以絕對不會如春卷狀的樣子,說回其味道,是日的這個版本實在很適合嗜肉的人仕,裡頭醬汁不多,但就充滿了絲絲的豬肉,豬肉本身香料味足,然而也還吃到芝士,如此的香脆小吃,試問又怎會難吃?

剛才說過如果嫌味道單調,又或是小吃太乾口的話,大家也可以蘸一點墨西哥沙沙醬汁,是日店家這個版本做得有點像西班牙凍湯,不過那陣蕃茄的酸香非常突出,不會太甜,跟上炸物來吃,就剛好平衡了當中的膩。

之後迎來一系列的Fajita,其實跟印度的Tikka系列菜式有點相像,都是用上燒熱了的鐵板,盛起燒過的肉類來,不過吃法就有點出入,皆因墨西哥人的吃法,就是有如吃北京填鴨一樣,用上麵餅包起烤肉來,之後再輔以不同的醬汁,卷起來成為墨西哥卷吃。

是夜店方供應了全部的烤肉供大家享用,當中分別有乳酪醃雞、燒帶子、露絲瑪莉汁羊肉及醃火腿包蝦,而醬汁就更有過十款的選擇,當中不乏較為常見,而又很具墨西哥特色的紅沙沙醬、墨西哥酪梨醬,也有基礎的沙律醬,除此之外,也有較為開胃的Mango & Lime Salsa、酸忌廉及Apple & Mint Salsa。

第一味要介紹的烤肉是露絲瑪莉汁羊肉,即是在店方餐牌上的Rosemary Marinated Baby Lamb,用迷迭香調校醬汁來伴羊肉,基本上是公認的合襯,店家是日就更加用了它來醃漬它,醃好之後才燒,輕輕的迷迭香味鎖了在羊肉之內,跟羊肉的羶味撞個正着,非常有趣,加上羊肉本身烤得剛好,入口軟腍而帶點炭香,伴點底下的炸洋蔥吃,更可化去一點油膩。

第二味烤肉是乳酪醃雞Yogurt Marinated Chicken Breast,用上乳酪來醃雞,其實也是一種在西餐,尤其是在印度菜也會使用來處理肉類的方法,當中的微酸輕度破壞了肉質裡頭的蛋白質,吃起來特別的軟腍,而且也令肉食更加惹味開胃,加上件件雞肉都烤得很有炭香,也是一味好吃的佐酒小食。

燒帶子Seared Sea Scallops其實不是串燒的燒,而是用上鑊仔明火燒熟的意思,帶子跟雜椒兜勻,雜椒甜美,而帶子本身也不失本身的鮮味,吃起來非常之有彈性,香口得來又不會乾身,雖然個人認為吃味方面是跟新鮮的還差得遠,但用Sear這個方法來處理,個人認為問題不大。

眾多小吃當中,它也可算是繁複的了,用上醃火腿包着蝦來燒,在餐牌上名為Prawns Wrapped in Prosciutto,雖然入口後那Prosciutto確實為本人的口腔帶來滿滿的煙肉香味,但那陣濃郁的鹹香味,是蓋過了蝦本身要貢獻的鮮味,個人而言不太懂欣賞。

吃罷就有各式各樣的Fajita,之後吃一味墨西哥人常吃的小食Nachos,是日店家供應的這道Nachos Simpatico,確實充滿了墨西哥的風味,除了不少的蕃茄粒、黑水欖、蔥花、芝士及肉碎外,就是墨西哥地道喜吃的酸忌廉及墨西哥酪梨醬,兩款醬的味道都香濃,同時芝士及肉碎也因為蕃茄粒及黑水欖的存在,不會予人太過膩滯的感覺,香脆惹味,實在是下酒良伴。

有那麼多好吃的菜式,在這半酒吧的環境下,當然要喝兩杯高興一下,先來的是
Queen Bee,這一道用上了真蜜糖沖調而成的Cocktail,喝起來真的有蜜糖味,配上開胃的新鮮青檸汁,在配方中加入Triple Sec來提供多一重的生果香,既有橙又有青檸的酸香,輔以主軸的龍舌蘭酒,令酒體富有一種龍舌蘭獨有的香味,喜歡喝Tequilla而又怕苦的朋友,這杯Cocktail實在是大家的入門途徑。

喝了杯易入口的Queen Bee,也喜歡喝烈酒的我,就來上一杯味道較直接的Margarita on Rock,雖然說是On Rock的東西,不過南美系的這杯雞尾酒,始終不失熱帶風情,除了龍舌蘭酒外,也有Triple Sec及其他的Orange Flavour的Liqueur,加上青檸汁,所以喝起來也挺酸,沒有了蜜糖的滋潤下,個人認為這杯酒的酒味還是不夠突出,個人認為龍舌蘭酒的香味可以再出一點,那就更好了。

另外本人也嚐過帶車厘子味的The Pink Taco,但這沙冰一入口,一陣冰涼過後,融了的沙冰就告訴我的味蕾,這杯東西有着強大的藥水味,喝了一口就投降了。

另外一款的沙冰名為The Suzy Wong,其實就是芒果味Margarita沙冰,這一杯的味道比起之前的車厘子味,實在是差太遠,入口陣陣冰涼的芒果甜香,加上一陣獨特的生果香味,原來當中也混入了石榴,所以味道既討好又複雜,教人喝完一口又一口。

吃過了那麼多東西,都是時間開始想想吃什麼甜品了,是日由店家安排了兩款甜品,第一款名為Caramel Flan,其實是法國人的甜食,個人認為它的吃味跟焦糖布甸沒多大分別,只不過面層那脆口的糖變成了焦糖漿而已,而底下的是軟腍滑溜的吉士,實在跟燉蛋沒多大分別,所以吃味也很類似,當然都是甜甜而帶焦糖香,不過蛋味好像是欠了點,但整體來說還算不賴。

Ibarra Fudge Brownie,其實跟一般的Brownie沒多大分別,可能店家是用了墨西哥的Ibarra Brand巧克力棒為原料,才幫它改了這個名字吧,是日這件Brownie吃入口硬身了一點點,但巧克力味豐富,個人雖然想少甜一點,但反正伴雲呢拿雪糕都是甜的了,這個問題其實又不太大,總之入口滿滿的巧克力味及雲呢拿味,也沒什麼好再要求太多了。

真的想不到人在酒吧林立的駱克道,一邊在這個場的Bar喝杯酒的同時,也有不少地道墨西哥的燒烤菜來吃,一班朋友開開心心的過一個晚上,真的不錯,最後在此再次多謝店家PR的邀請。

之後第二層的食物都好有墨西哥的特色, 因為都是辣及炸的食物.......

香辣炸雞用了墨西哥的香料醃製的, 最滋味是把它蘸上honey tequila sauce 味道甜中帶辣, sauce裡面有莞茜及指天椒的辣味,真是香脆惹味,肉質都好嫩滑又不會好燶


jalapeno pepper 釀芝士,jalapeno這個名未是我們一般熟知的墨西哥辣椒,味道帶中辣,剛炸起的芝士真是好鬆軟脆口,芝士味全溶化了, 真是最好趁熱吃掉吧


磨菇quesadilla --- 粟米粉皮包著蘑菰,內餡都好多mushroom,又夠 juicy又有咬口, 滋味無窮,食味是不錯的, 粟米粉皮都咬落煙韌


雞肉及豬肉烤串--啖啖肉不會燒得過火,再加上燒烤汁真是惹味肉香,肉質嫩滑
第二層的食物更顯出墨西哥的主打菜,有quesadilla,辣椒釀芝士.....

題外話/補充資料: 其實這裡的食物相當不錯,更有印上coyote的帽子帶, 更可以取走,侍應生更是熱情及有熱誠的服務,真是顯出墨西哥人熱情, 奔放 整體食品都好滿意, 墨西哥菜式味道都是濃烈而且辣味依然, 原因墨西哥菜的辣味多數都是來自辣椒, 飲食口味也偏向酸和辣

前幾天看電視節目, 看到旅遊節目介紹墨西哥, 當地的美食讓我很想試因為我在香港也吃過好吃的墨西哥菜, 就是在coyote bar and grill當天晚上超熱鬧的人好多, 我們亦試了不少墨西哥的美味菜式這邊有超多款的辣椒醬辣椒汁, 愛辣的人絕對不要錯過Grilled Chicken Quesadillas先來這款小吃, 脆的外皮夾著雞肉跟芝士, 薄薄一片很香口用來作佐酒小吃非常不錯Smoked pulled pork chimichangas 很像我們春卷的一款, 裡面的是pulled pork手撕豬肉豬肉以墨西哥醬料煮過, 十分惹味, 脆的外皮配上美味的內餡非常好吃Nachos Simpatico 我非常喜歡吃的nachos, 這裡的nachos很大一碟, 配以香濃的牛油果醬跟芝士香脆惹味, 喜歡吃nachos的我真的吃不停口呢Fajitafajita是在墨西哥很想吃的美食, 泛指鐵版煎烤類的食物通常會連醬料跟薄餅皮包在一起吃的, 當晚試了四碟fajita, 每款都好吃Yogurt Marinated USA Chicken Breast 這個是四款中我比較不喜歡的一款, 雞肉比較

對這裡的食物有驚喜呢, 因為之前還以為是酒吧的話東西應該不會好吃的那裡去
結果這裡的墨西哥菜還真好吃, 很多都做得很惹味

Nachos Simpatico 素香辣墨西哥玉米薄脆 ($95) ,底部放滿香熱酥脆的玉米薄脆,上面是欖仁,蕃茄粒,洋蔥粒及半融芝士,充滿天然樸素的香味,透出誘人的味道.

由於是踫上墨西哥的節日,店內安排了一隊樂隊即場表演,在店內四處遊走,將現場氣氛推至高峰,難怪當大家要離開時,依然是人頭湧湧,看來駱克道又添多一個浦點了!

Coyote Bar & Grill is not unfamiliar to me as I occasionally walk in for an impromptu Corona drinking session, but I must admit I haven't really taken much notice of the food here before. Thanks to J & V's invitation, I finally realised that I have been missing out all this time! Coyote Bar & Grill is not unfamiliar to me as I occasionally walk in for an impromptu Corona drinking session, but I must admit I haven't really taken much notice of the food here before. Thanks to J & V's invitation, I finally realised that I have been missing out all this time! Although at first glance the food looks undoubtedly Americanised Mexican and more resembling Tex-Mex in style (always recognisable when you see orange cheeses and minced beef on the menu), I was taken aback that some of the dishes here were undoubtedly more Cal-Mex or traditional Mexican in style. It seems to run the gamut and there were actually dishes on the menu which sounded more promising that what we ate tonight.

What intrigued me the most is their very rare to find Mesquite Grill, used here to house smoke their fish and meats, even though they now use Hickory instead of Mesquite for this purpose.

Smoked Pulled Pork Chimichangas - $158
These chimichangas were the highlight, although looking a bit round and more like spring rolls tonight! As mentioned, their Mesquite-Hickory Grill is used to smoked the meat themselves, and it is very smoky.
Just order this and you won't regret it if you miss the smoky type of food from South West.

Using the shelf bought not the bubbly fried Nacho chips, Guacamole avocado, Black Beans, Sour Cream and Pico de Gallo with an abundance of Cheddar cheese just screamed Tex-Mex... This is a popular dish but I think needed more cheese and black beans ~ 6/10

Fajitas - Rosemary Marinated Baby Lamb, Yogurt Marinated Chicken Breast - $160 to $195
The Fajitas on this side of the table came with some lovely Sour Cream, Apple and Mint Salsa, and Mango & Lime Salsa, but you can also order the other usuals such as Pico de Gallo, Chipotle Mayo, Jalapeno & Roasted Garlic Dips, etc. The flour tortilla were steamed nicely soft at the edges, which is a plus. The lamb was cooked medium-rare looking very smart! They ate very well too, in fact this is probably one of the best fajitas I've had! The yogurty chicken was also pretty decent but a bit over-shadowed by the perfectly seared lamb. ~ 9/10

Served warm and once again punching above its weight for the price vs taste & presentation. This was actually very good, very moist and chocolaty and warm. This dessert really surprised me as so many other shops serving this fail miserably. Excellent. ~ 10/10

The mostly Texas Mexican style food with a few other Mexican styles thrown in was overall was actually done surprisingly well here, it's not just normal pub grub! At least the execution was spot-on, just look back at that perfectly seared lamb with a pink centre, very smoky and tender pulled pork inside the chimichangas, or the gorgeous Ibarra Fudge Brownie dessert.
I didn't really like the scallops fajita though.

兩款甜品分別是Caramel Flan焦糖酒香蛋布甸,$55,及Ibarra Fudge Brownie朱古力餅配雪糕及朱古力醬,$55。焦糖酒香蛋布甸入口滑溜,質感比想像中的好,味道甜甜的,也有蛋香,但酒香就嚐不出來。朱古力餅配雪糕及朱古力醬,Brownie焗得微暖,表面帶點微脆,內裡質感也濕潤,不會很乾身,已算是不錯。朱古力味濃郁,亦不會很甜溜,跟上一球香甜的雲尼拿雪糕,吃得滿足。

Shocking Pink嘅門面,非常eye-catching,亦因此被吸引一嚐這兒的午餐。沙律、餐湯及小食三揀一,天氣微寒,還是點了一碗熱餐湯暖暖肚。周打魚肉湯有洋葱魚塊等作配料,質感略稠,亦鹹了少許。辣肉腸大蝦燴飯除了有洋葱蒜蓉調味,亦加入了茄醬辣肉腸,味道酸辣交替,幾惹味好食。大蝦有四只,大小份量都算對辦。餐飲如選凍飲可添加,但後加茶底唔凍就令杯凍飲有點怪喇!

Food was good as usual, the tea was improved this time after last time needing to put the teabag in separately.In general all their starters, soups are good, especially the onion soup, lots of onions.Their salads are very appetizing too, sometimes it will have citrus fruits such as orange, on other occaisions it is baby spinach leaves in a strong lemoney dressing.The sauces cupboard reminds me of Nando's peri peri chicken with hot sauces of various degrees.

This is one of those restaurants where I pass by nearly everyday and never considered it, but finally tried it today.
The food quality really surprised me, however the service could have been better.

We were asked if we wanted any drinks first, so ordered tea, when the drinks arrived, we thought it was complimentary hot water. After a while, we noticed there was a tea bag beside the glass of water, and by that time the water was warm, my Canadian friend complained and got some more hot water.
There was no milk either, so had to request for it too!

When my order arrived, it was not the Vegetable enchilada, but the chicken fajitas, so I had to wait a while for the enchilada to be cooked, so when my food came, I had to eat it quickly.
Anyway at least the waiter apologised for getting it wrong.
The restaurant was rather humid and hot almost as if I was really in Mexico.

Ordered the fire chilli, chicken wrap and vegetable enchilada.

There was salad or vegetable soup with the set lunch, the salad was nicely drenched in vinaigrette with hints of cajun, there were two pieces of artichoke in it.

Main dishes:

Fire chilli: this was basically chilli con carne, rich gravy sauce and beans.
Chicken wrap: basically shredded chicken in wrap with potato salad.
Vegetable enchilada: spinach and mushrooms wrapped like cannelloni, tasted like lasagne when you ate it. On the side of the dish was a generous portion of black turtle beans. I really liked the black beans, it had a dense, meaty texture and flavour reminiscent of mushrooms.
The only complaint was the mushrooms, they used Asian shiitake mushrooms.
Every bite I had was packed with intense flavours, guacamole, salsa, mushrooms, spinach, sour cream, black beans.
When I finished the enchilada, there was some guacamole left and it complimented the Mexican rice perfectly.

Finally when we paid our bill, we noticed there was an extra $2 charity donation on top before the 10% was added. I don’t mind giving to charity, but at least we should have been informed what charity it was donated to and that it was part of the bill before we ordered.
Secondly, I felt the donation shouldn’t have had a 10% on top, because getting charged for giving donation is a bit stupid, also we never requested to.
I suppose these are thing's in life you have to put up with.
