We went to Hungry Eye because we are always looking for good Nepalese food in Hong Kong.
We went to the third floor and through the imposing doors that can be bolted shut. Inside was a cosy atmosphere and a welcoming staff. We were the only customers and we sat down and browsed the menu.
Our order was chilly momos, samosa chaat, palak paneer and a plain nan. The samosa chaat came out first and we got stuck in straight away. The mashed up samosa was covered in yoghurt, chutney and raita. It tasted pretty good (although we have eaten better). Next came the momos. They were different and tasty. We had not encountered these before and were pleasantly surprised. The momos were filled with seasoned chicken, fried and then smothered in a sweet and spicy tomato based sauce. They were crispy and sticky, but gave way to a moist meaty filling.
There was a bit of a wait for the palak paneer and bread, but when it came, we could see why. The spinach was freshly cooked and the whole dish was fresh and fragrant. The bread was perfect - soft, yet crisp.
The price was decent with two of us eating for a little over $150. Combined with friendly service and good food, it was a winner.
