Just a quick note to start that the picture on OpenRice and I think the address is for Lamma Grill's old location, it has now moved to much larger premises on Main St.
I love this place. I live on Lamma and go all the time. Most of the food I have had is delicious. The ribs are the best I have ever had, they melt off the bone. The Chilli Poutine is also really tasty, if not very spicy, though you may well feel like you are about to burst out of your trousers after eating it. The only dishes I would avoid are the salads, which are not bad at all but are not to the standard of the rest of the offering. Most recently I had the pulled pork wrap and it was huge! The meat was very tender and the sauce was good, sweet.
The decor and branding has also had some effort put into it, and you can even buy a Lamma Grill umbrella! The outside seating area has wonderful views over the beach and pier (and ever-present Lamma Power Station). They also have a ton of board games that customers can use, which is great fun with a couple of drinks. The only downside is that the inside gets no light at all and so is very dark even in the middle of the day, which doesn't make for the best atmosphere.
I think my views on pricing are probably a bit skewed because I live on Lamma. Most of the customers will be tourists and as a tourist place I think the pricing is good. As someone who goes more regularly I think the mains pricing is still more than acceptable, but that the sides are on the expensive side - $40 for four (yummy) Jalapeño Poppers is a bit steep.
I saw another review that complained about the service at the old location. I can't speak to that. No one at Lamma Grill has ever been rude to me and the manager is very pleasant and accommodating. They do seem to have a high turnover of young people working as servers, which means that the service times can be a little slow. I have sometimes found it difficult to catch the attention of someone on the staff when I want to order. Though this is far from always the case.
If you are on Lamma then definitely give this place a visit!
