I was craving pizza tonight, so my friend and I decided to hop on by to Pizza Express. The interior of the shop was wonderfully open, not so restrictive like some restaurants, and not overly crowded - my type of place!
We were seated immediately upon arrival, which was around half six, I'd say and were told we could stay until half eight (someone had apparently booked the table!). That was all fine by me, seeing as my friend and I had plenty of time to unwind and enjoy our time!
I ordered my typical favorite pizza; pepperoni. On the P.E. (Pizza Express) menu, it is listed as 'American'. One nice thing about PE's menu is that it lists what's inside your dish, which is thoughtful for some customers who may be allergic to certain foods!
The pizza was wonderful, and I liken it to the ones they make over at Paisanos (although I am not a fan of their pepperoni pizza nor am I a fan of their crust, which tastes like burnt naan)! The pepperoni had a nice smokey flavor to it, and the cheese wasn't overpowering (I am not a massive fan of cheese). I do think they put too much sauce though, some of it dropped onto my cake plate, but no worries there! The base is also very floury. After you have eaten your slice, you will notice your hands laced with excess flour; but yet again, these are minor issues which shouldn't be a problem unless you are a food snob!
For dessert I had a slice of their heavenly chocolate cake. One bite of this chocolately divinity and it brought me right back to my childhood! I had a cake like this once during one of my friend's childhood birthday parties at the YMCA. Ever since that first bite, I have been trying chocolate cakes to see one that could match, and viola! today I have found almost an exact replica of that gorgeous cake!
If you are a chocoholic, trust me guys and gals, head over to PE to order this delious chocolate cake! (There are also other cake options if you dislike chocolate, such as cheesecake and tiramisu).
My drink of choice was their lemon tea (with unlimited refil, I was gonna opt for coke, but decided to switch things up).
It was nothing special. They used camomile tea (I presume) and place a few slices of fresh lemon into your cup. There is no sugar added, so you can sweeten the tea to your liking - again, thoughtful towards the customer!
The customer service is splendid here! The staff are always around to check to see if you need anything else and during the end of your meal, they ask how your experience was. I think the PE staff and management really seek to make sure the customers are happy; which I believe is good work ethics! The happier the customer, the better the business!
