以前食開半價pizza餐, 來來去去都係食濃烈芝士厚粉頭, 意粉入口即溶, 為填肚而食.......但係第一次食Pizza Express之後, 原來pizza係可以好好食, 意粉係可以好彈牙,雖然一打開menu, 表面上好似貴咗d, 但係比起食 mudmud 客, 以食物味道同質素衡量, 咁又唔算貴....至少我對食pizza同意粉已經改觀

I've always been a big fan of Pizza Express. I'm never disappointed by their food and desserts, and always come out with a full stomach. On this particularly day, I was adventrous and tried their new items (pizza etna) and penne with chicken marsala. Although they are not the best I've had, i wouldn't complain at all However, I notice this store is very busy with takeaway orders. As I was seated fairly close to the open kitchen, I couldn't help but notice the cooks are jamming out lots of dishes

However, I notice this store is very busy with takeaway orders. As I was seated fairly close to the open kitchen, I couldn't help but notice the cooks are jamming out lots of dishes in paper boxes, and only occasionally would a dine-in plate come out. We waited about 25 mins to get our main course... by the we were already half dead from hunger. This is my 3rd visit to this particular store and we always have to wait long time to get our food. Occasionally we go to another Pizza Express in Wan Chai, and we had never been treated this way in another store.

Also, I kinda wish the cooks would realize that they work in an open kitchen, and would keep their chattering to minimal or low volume.

這晚沒有點 Carbonara,反而要了意式野菌螺絲粉 ($105),算是有點突破,點知女友突然胃痛難集中,只好由我一口包辦。本來打算吃一半就算,但螺絲粉軟硬度剛好,配上香濃的蘑菇汁及鮮味十足的雜菌,同時帶有很重的 truffle oil 香,正是令人欲罷不能的主因。

當我清掉整碟意粉後,已經無力再戰甜品,看見女友面色滄白,還是速速買單。連加一約 $336,扣去 $240 Coupon,需另外比多 $100,仍算抵吃。餐廳的食物水準、用膳環境和待客態度都令人滿意,只略嫌上菜速度太快,小吃和主菜差不多同時間送來,結果令我們吃得很趕,食物亦因此而攤涼,這一點望店方能多加留意!

這店可能在內街, 不為人所留意, 好處就是靜.

Anyway, so then I popped across the road to Pizza express for tea, there was either pizzas or desserts, the desserts were just the normal chocolate cakes, cheesecakes, so I opted for the pizza.
It was a selection of 3 mini pizzas including a drink.

The three pizza’s were cheese and margarita, cheese and pepperoni and duck with hoisin sauce.

I ate the cheese margarita first, then the pepperoni and lastly the duck one because duck with hoisin sauce is totally different taste to tomato being on the sweet side.

All of them had the consistent thin pizza base, the cheese and margarita was good, starting out with the usual pizza taste, then moving on with a slightly stronger taste with pepperoni, then a change of tone with the sweet hoisin sauce.

Finally finished it off with a pot of tea, and it tasted much silkier than the Lipton brand.

Ordered the following:

1. Parma with neapolitan crust $130
A single bite is a party in your mouth, with salty proscuitto ham, generous parmesan shavings, smooth pomodoro sauce and creamy warm ricotta. I love how the cheese is separate, not smothered, on the pizza base, so you can enjoy the distinct tastes of every ingredient.

2. Spaghetti Frutta di Mare ($105)
With mussels, venus clams, calamari and tiger shrimp. I enjoyed the sauce the most, which is sauteed with some onions and cilantro, and garnished with basil. The mild hint of olive oil gives it a richer body.

3. Quattro Fromaggi with Roman crust ($115)
The 4 cheeses used in Pizza Express' recipe:
Gorgonzola stands out from the rest, gouda gives it a deep lavor, emmental contributes to the texture, and mozzarella is like giving your taste buds a break from all the synergy! A bit rich perhaps, but a delight for cheese lovers. Topped with a single pitted olive in the middle.

4. Al Tonno Leggera ($1xx)
I initially ordered a Vitabella, but they made this instead - with sauteed spinach and tuna. I like its feta cheese pairing. The fior di latte mozzarella has a high-moisture content so it was quite creamy; flavor was not compromised! I would have still prefered my order, with more vegetable toppings. The greens in the middle consist of baby spinach, arugula, santos tomato which were fresh; I really liked the balsamic vinegar based dressing which was thick and very sweet, but they could have used less - it sort of soaked into the pizza.

Service is better than many restaurants; staff are friendly, helpful; refill of drinks and water is fast. This branch may be a bit cramped though, seating is not the most comfortable, but dining area is well-lit and spotless. A great place for parties large or small, kid-friendly as well.

Definitely worth a visit, and you're likely to come back.

明日就係我生日,我同男朋友去左pizza express 食左chocolate fudge cake同埋焗蘑茹。嘩,個朱古力旦糕好好味呀,佢出面有好濃好滑的朱古力醬,好香好滑,而且佢個餅底比其他旦糕實,所以好有口味,加上唔係好甜,感覺好好~另,焗蘑茹都焗得幾多有水準,唔會太過濃同乾,總之,今餐味道好好,我地都好滿足啦!

嘩,個朱古力旦糕好好味呀,佢出面有好濃好滑的朱古力醬,好香好滑,而且佢個餅底比其他旦糕實,所以好有口味,加上唔係好甜,感覺好好~

During the first recess, we gathered at the classroom. After that, we walked down to Pizza Express. We were really eager to make those pizzas so we walked quite fast.
Pizza Express is located at Ship Street. Tables and chairs were already placed in a row when we got there. One of the waiters told us about the history of pizza. Then, he distributed the dough, which were placed in black baking saucers. The dough was rather soft and it was very thin. I was surprised at first because those in Pizza Huts were thick but the answer to the question is that the thick ones are American pizzas while thin ones are Italian pizzas.
After the explanations, we started to toss some dough. The chief explained that it could make the dough round. It was great fun. After making the side of the pizza and adding the mixture of tomato and herbs onto the dough, we started to add the toppings. We add tomatoes, mushrooms, ham, sausages, black olive and finally, we sprinkled some cheese on top. The waiter helped us put our pizzas onto a rack, which was later put into the oven. After ten minutes, our pizzas were ready.
Most of us couldn’t wait to have the first bite of their own pizza so once we got it we ate them immediately.
I did had a great time during this outing because it was fun and we can really make and eat our own pizzas. This made us satisfied because this was our first time to make pizzas.

We want to reserve table for the one in Star Street, since it is full that we turn to another one.Great, even fewer ppl, it is still good in terms of food and service. Grilled Mushroom: Not only the main ingredient is fresh and matches well with the parma ham. The salad leaves in balsamic vinegar and olive oil further adds the temptation of the whole dish!

Pizza: There is always no complaint to their pizza. I think I can finish one as it is really not heavy and crispy


U should never miss their dessert. OMG, it is a big bowl! Even there is a thick cream, there are lots of rasberries to relieve the heavy cream. The overall texture is soft and light. There are lady fingers underneath. I cant resist it. Yet, there should be more rum as I cant feel any at all.

Btw, the staff are very nice!

先來芝士蛋糕,質感軟滑,芝士味香,旁邊遠配上一球雲尼拿雪糕,是令人滿意的一款甜品。香蕉杏仁片撻相對遜色,雖然撻焗得幾香口,但總覺得兩者的味道和口感格格不入。

我揀的當然是甜魔們極力推薦的Chocolate Glory,濕潤而軟滑的朱古力蛋糕,加上濃烈的朱古力漿,再配合清香的尼拿雪糕及一枝脆卜卜,那種冷暖融合的感覺,倍添滋味。

服務生個個通曉中英文,服務細心又到位,值得一讚。

看了Oli的食評,深被新出朱古力甜品所吸引。雖然翌日就是文華朱古力buffet大日子,但晚上還是忍不住去了PE食甜品! 船街的新店比其他分店都要小,也特別寧靜,桌上一支紅艷艷的鮮花令環境更添情調。 下午茶吃得頗飽的,只要了個新口味的大蝦海鮮意粉($105)作「頭盤」。見其紅彤彤的賣相,起初以為只是蕃茄醬,原來除了蕃茄的微酸,還帶有點辛辣的口味,既開胃又惹味,而且蝦肉非常新鮮爽脆,其他海鮮料也不少;至於意粉初時略為挺身,吃到一半才到適當軟硬度。整體水準不錯,不過我只能少試,然後就開始「正餐」:Chocolate Glory($65)-這個就是引我破戒的魔鬼,聽名字已經十分誘惑;濃郁軟香的朱古力蛋糕粒,加上PE獨有的香甜雲尼拿雪糕,吃下來是無比甜美和諧,令人甘心被俘虜。我只嫌它份量縮水了,未夠豐盛! 打算消磨時間又消耗卡路里,由中環行到灣仔食甜品,除夕節目有好多較好的西餐廳只有set,沒有a la carte。雖然pizza express的甜品食過好幾間分店,這間是新店同時又可以散叫。先來一杯Chocolate Glory,兩球雲呢拿gelalo加粒粒朱古力蛋糕,再淋上又濃又暖的朱古力醬,很有冬日氣氛,真是無比美味及幸福。我最鍾意是每口也有齊雪榚及蛋糕,喜歡這個夠平均。食完甜品再來一個鹹食來中和,要了新口味的火腿芝士焗蘑菇,暗紅色充足鹹香的意大利火腿、半溶化的軟芝士加厚肉多汁的蘑菇,一口咬下去時真是滋味無窮,又配上清爽的火箭菜,來幫助消化。雖然侍應小姐勸戒我Chocolate fudge cake與Chocolate Glory差不多,但對於朱古力狂熱怎會嫌多,而Chocolate fudge cake又是signature,雖有一球雪榚,我還要加多一球咖啡gelato來伴食。濕潤、軟綿的蛋糕,朱古力夠濃烈,配上啖啖的雲呢拿gelato很有對比;換了味道稍濃的咖啡gelato,又異常合拍。吃完08年最後一個甜品後,又再漫步中環方向,準備倒數迎接新一年。

Had lunch with two friends here. This restaurant serves quite many vegetarian dishes. Quite okay. This restaurant is bit small, only around 10 tables, only 5 staff, including kitchen staff. But still should be enough for a shop that size. The tables are not set too closely together, which gives more space for its customers. We tried a Giardiniera, it was a pizza with asparagus (yeah, my favourite!), roasted artichokes, mushrooms, grilled peppers, cherry tomatos, olives, garlic and peto Genovese. This pizza was very fresh. Though didnt have strong aroma of tomato. This one was quite a light one to delight everyone.

For salad, we had a Benevento, it had warm garlic mushrooms with creamy mozzarella, baked tomatoes, avocado, on a mixed salad tossed in the pizzaexpress dressing and drizzled with balsamic syrup. I particulary like that creamy mozzarella and also the balsamic syrup, both making the salad with a rich texture and strong aroma of balsamic, which was very nicely mixed together. The dough balls that went with it were also very lovely and chewy. The mushrooms were fresh and the tomato was very large good quality organic one. Very nice.

For pasta, we had Cannelloni, it was rolls of pasta filled with ricotta, spinach, tomato and parmesan. This one came with a lovely baked dish, baked just right. The ricotta was all melt to a creamy sauce, and it matched perfectly with the spinach, tomato filled pasta rolls. Couldnt say more about this dish. It was perfectly made.

This restaurant has depicted an excellent standard of food quality. If the service could be improved, it would be perfect.

芝士菠菜面卷,濃濃芝士伴著酸而開胃的茄汁,入口即溶,滿口的芝士味真是太滿足啦!不過菠菜份量少了點,不過都好吃。焗蘑菇,配Genovese香草牛油汁。蘑菇十分juicy,一叉落去汁係bid出來,又幾煙韌。而且有好多芝士係個面, 少少油膩啦, 不過好好食. 另外又有d 圓形一粒粒0既麵包。北京烤鴨薄餅:個底好薄,微脆,有大量蔥灑係上面,個醬係北京填鴨果隻醬,甜甜地,幾開胃,烤鴨既數目亦唔少,肉質幾嫩,唔錯,個批芝士唔多,唔太膩,但食唔出有辣味。牛肉千層麵,尤其鍾意個蕃茄肉醬, 夠茄味, 面夠多, 不過都幾油膩。另叫了2杯lemon tea, 可以free refill, 幾good, 飲左4-5杯先走人...
