Enjoyed a nice dinner at an old Italian restaurant at Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong. The name of the restaurant is Tivoli Ristorante italiano, which is 44 years old! Although I often walked by when I was in primary school, it’s my first time getting into this old restaurant. We ordered Margarita Pizza 🍕, Prawn Sicilia with Spaghetti 🦐 🍝 , Grilled Ribeye Steak and Coconut Gelato 🥥🍨 (from Italy, I know the brand, it’s Bindi). The soup was, I think, was a creamy mixed vegetable soup. It’s a bit bland but refreshing. After adding a shake of salt and pepper, the flavours came out. The bread served with it was slices of baguette 🥖, but not the artisan one (it’s like the quality of the supermarket baguette you know). The butter was made into butter curls, which were delightful to see.
The ribeye steak was super good. The beef fat melted and was so tender and flavourful. The meat was nicely cooked to medium and as so tender and juicy, with a nicely browned exterior.
The pizza was so big and with much toppings. There was plenty of melted cheese on top, with cherry tomato halves. I didn’t see and fresh Basil though. It’s not an authentic Neapolitan pizza (that is both crispy and soft at the same time, with a puffy rim around the edges), but it’s nice enough to eat and it suits the taste of kids. It was well heated through so it kept hot for a long time. The pizza base was a crispy one, like biscuit. Not sure if the dough was homemade, but, even if it was a readymade pizza base, it’s still better than many Pizzeria, as it kept crispy all along during the dinner. It was not hard to bite when got cooled. For my pasta, the prawns were of high quality. They were savoury, flavourful and well-cleaned. The pasta sauce was homemade, which was very chunky, with tons of freshly chopped and cooked vegetables and black olives. It goes well with the prawns and spaghetti, although the pasta should be more al dente. Lastly, the coconut gelato was a hit! We loved it immediately! It’s a big portion, more than the Japanese similar product that you can eat at sushi restaurants. Bindi coconut gelato has strong coconut aroma, and the right amount of desiccated coconut. It was lightly sweetened, so refreshing.
Will definitely go there again.
