這天另一半要到灣仔聽講座,問我可否陪佢食晏,豈敢不從?我帶她去一間食友評為 "Very British, Very London, Very U.K." 的英式餐廳試試,事實上,見到個名,會即時憶記起當年我倆歐洲艱苦背囊自由行第一站倫敦,除了去白金漢宮和塔橋外,Trafalgar Square,特拉法加廣場便是我和另一半想去的地方,當然熱愛拿破崙那段歷史的我,怎會不知這廣場是記念納爾遜將軍,安放他的石像高高的矗立在廣場中的石柱上,是向世人炫耀大英帝國顯赫一時的輝煌戰績。返回這餐廳,幾似 Pub,也頗英式,以前去中環和記大廈的 Bull & Bear 都係咁上下樣。外籍侍應問我們是否要吸煙區,雖則我們不抽煙,但在香港找個露臺吃餐也不容易,有機會也想坐坐露臺,況且是日人不多,祇得另一檯客,影響不大。一看餐牌,單點的項目頗貴,飲個湯都要五十幾,炸魚要百二,還是看看有甚麼經濟實惠的套餐,是日套餐的價目分兩款,一款 $58,一款 $88,各有三種主菜選擇,連頭盤或湯,咖啡或茶,若加 $10,可連甜品。兩種價目,我們選了各一款,湯和頭盤各一,主菜選了茄汁蝦意粉和煎鰽魚。頭盤是吞拿魚沙律,有些吞拿魚

一看餐牌,單點的項目頗貴,飲個湯都要五十幾,炸魚要百二,還是看看有甚麼經濟實惠的套餐,是日套餐的價目分兩款,一款 $58,一款 $88,各有三種主菜選擇,連頭盤或湯,咖啡或茶,若加 $10,可連甜品。兩種價目,我們選了各一款,湯和頭盤各一,主菜選了茄汁蝦意粉和煎鰽魚。頭盤是吞拿魚沙律,有些吞拿魚蓉,薯粒,菜蔬,邊豆等,唯汁醬油醋,一概欠奉,感到有點dry,而大蒜薯蓉湯則不夠熱,吃到淡淡薯蓉的味道,湯亦得只三份二碗滿,感覺吝嗇,跟餐有兩塊蒜蓉包夠熱。不久主菜便送來,茄汁蝦意粉份量頗多,意粉不腍,已合格了一半,茄汁加了蒜片同炒,蝦算彈牙爽口,我很滿意,煎鰽魚配花紅粉汁,魚柳約四安士重,煎得金黃,但味道稍淡,配菜的翠玉瓜可能天氣熱稍微變了,著外籍侍應跟進,她以為那是青蘋果,無論怎樣她也跟廚師說明我們的意見,結果換了炒菠菜給我們,而花紅粉汁的味道則不太明顯,加十元的甜品是 Vanilla Pudding,奶味濃郁,軟滑,配在旁的點點朱古力汁很不錯,單尾的咖啡有水準。免加一服務費,但有服務也算抵食。
室內有電視播球賽,也有球桌可供玩樂,雖則露臺的環境較好,唯今天天氣頗熱,坐在那裏晉餐有點活受罪,自己揀,怪得誰?
過幾天便是滑鐵瀘戰役一百九十四週年,我很渴望有 Waterloo 餐廳,到時我一見個名就覺得 " Very French, Very Napoleon, Very France.",但不介意開在窩打老道。

Came here as they've plastered the surrounding streets with their stand-up posters and decide to give it a go. They've occupied the floor where Dirty Duck used to be. Lunch sets are $58 for the more carbolicious and $88 for the proteins and heavier stuff, and includes the usual soup/salad and coffee/tea (plus an extra $10 for dessert), and 10% service charge. The place is styled like a British pub, with a big selection of British ales and HK-style cocktails, and has a large outside seating area

Lunch sets are $58 for the more carbolicious and $88 for the proteins and heavier stuff, and includes the usual soup/salad and coffee/tea (plus an extra $10 for dessert), and 10% service charge. The place is styled like a British pub, with a big selection of British ales and HK-style cocktails, and has a large outside seating area for smokers.

I had the chicken and avocado salad first. This was a presentable dish with the usual few leaves and 3 slivers of cold chicken breast with balsamic dressing, and another 3 slivers of avocado. Garnish was cherry tomatoes quarters. Nothing noteworthy here, only a minor comment that the veggies could have done with a bit of dressing/oil.

My main was the salmon steak with butter lemon sauce . I was asked by the waitress how I wanted it cooked, and "well done" was the answer. but my salmon arrived pretty raw, and because we were in a bit of a hurry, I didn't bother changing it. The skin was nice and crisp (admittedly with a bit too much oil) and there were several wedges of courgettes and roast potato. True to British-style food, the sauce was pretty tasteless except for a faint savoury taste.

My lunch companion had the a la carte fish and chips. It looked pretty decent on arrival, with little ramekins of coleslaw, cabbage salad (?) and mushy peas on the side. Fat chips and 2 pieces of battered fish completed the picture. The verdict was, the chips were fine, but the mushy peas were laced with mint, and looked too bright green and dry to be honest. I wish cooks will just forget about the fancy-pansy stuff and serve honest no-nonsense British grub, doesn't matter that it's straight from the can and slap-up, but don't try to impress or pretend to be some TV chef lol. The batter on the fish got soggy pretty quickly, also true to real UK-style fish and chips lol, although I somehow suspect this was not intentional.

But the abysmal thing was that they had ketchup, they had Worcester sauce, they even had HP sauce, but they didn't have malt vinegar lol. What is this place doing, claiming to serve British food but yet not have malt vinegar to go with fish and chips rofl? Fish and chips without malt vinegar is, to me, like wearing trainers without socks (double rofl). The manager claimed that they are new and haven't had it delivered. Well, well.

They even got the bill wrong at the end. Well, the manager said that they are going to "change all their staff", but I don't think I will be back to check that. I wish Dirty Duck was still there, at least it had a nice ambience and I could get my chilli fix...... never mind.

Try out this new spot with no expectation at all, but the experience was overwhelming.Not only the food was fresh and tasty, the people there were extremely nice... share every single dining experience with us! It seemed to me that he was welcoming a good friend..who he hasnt met for a long time. =)For food, we tried out the short ribs ..due to manager's recommendation~ the meat was tender and meaty... forgot to mention the appetizer -- duck breast in orange sauce -- awesome. love the sweet sau

Was given a leaflet to promote it's new opening, looked at the name and saw Trafalgar.I was imediately drawn to it, with usual flyers, they end up straight in the bin, I looked at it closer and saw the British flag on the logo, hence I really had to try it.The business card given also had other restaurants listed at the back, namely The Barn, The Barn II, so it must be a subsidary of them.Anyway finally gave it a visit on a friday lunch with Chan Jan. Anyway finally gave it a visit on a friday lunch with Chan Jan.

Both ordered the lobster soup as a starter, very strong lobster smell when it came, dark brown in colour, very salty, the taste was a bit like crab shell broth! Actually you can taste bits of fine shell in it.

For the main dish, ordered the butterfly boneless chicken breast with gravy and mash, and the tuna baguette.
The mash was very rich and fine with lots of butter.
The tuna baguette was surprisingly big, and there was lots of tuna in it, more than I expected, even after I finished the baguette, there was still tuna left. The fries were the flat thick cut ones.
The waitor thought I couldnt finish it off, but a big sufficient for a big eater like me.

I was very impressed with the waitor, because he knew his stuff about food.

The complimentary tea was good, proper English Tea.

Next time I will come again for the more British stuff such as the chicken kievs.

主菜, 來得非常慢, 只有一小時 lunch time 的我們開始焦急了, 因為時間已是 1:50. 幸好, 我倆老細都不在公司. 而且是 F.R.I.D.A.Y. 邊個會同你落力. 下午都係等收工, happy hour 既姐.

吞拿魚包, 份量非常大, 而且吞拿魚醬用得好多. 薯條是大大條的仿英式 Chips. 呢D就係所謂既新派英國菜. Yorkshire Pudding 果D 叫做古法英國菜.

燒雞胸, 肉質不"鞋"已經值回票價, 加上美味既汁, (個汁有個名的, 忘了), 好牛油既薯蓉. 而且薯蓉不是全蓉果隻. 而是有少少未碎既粒粒. 好重牛油香. 而店員亦好細心介紹點整點煮, 話明薯仔靚, 加上牛油, 一定好食既. 我們兩個英國鬼認同.

奶茶, 高貴地用上Twinings English Breakfast Tea. 再用鮮奶沖, 沖出英國好味道, 但始終喜歡 PG, Tetley, Typhoon, 同 M&S. 不過, 始終香港長大, 最愛當然是絲襪奶茶.

新店, 味道好, 服務好, 但 Speed, 要改善. 不要好似英國佬咁慢吞吞啊.
