We were supposed to go to Flippers for a belated Saturday brunch this afternoon but judging from the long long lineup ahead of us, it would probably be Monday morning before we got our turn, so it was time for Plan B. We decided to hop over to Zakka Café located on the first floor of the newly renovated Jade & Pearl Plaza to get our fix on Japanese pancakes instead.
What I didn't know was that Zakka is actually a concept by the Cafe de Coral group who has a matter of fact taken over the entire floor here with different concepts including Cafe de Coral, Mixian Sense (米線陣), Spaghetti House and Shanghai Lao Lao.
While the Japanese inspired spaghetti and curry looked awfully tempting, I decided to stick with the original plan of peppering ourselves with pancakes.
Banana tiramisu pancakes with chocolate sauce ($68) - This was surprisingly good. The pancakes were soft and pillowy like those we experienced in Japan and the tiramisu flavors were rich and so irresistible.

Souffle pancakes with maple syrup, mascarpone cream and Hokkaido milk ice-cream ($88) - This was what got us here in the first place. Our server said it would take about 30 minutes to prepare (really!?) but thankfully it arrived a little over 15 minutes, which wasn't that bad at all.
The souffle pancakes were again very nice and spongy, which was perfect to go with the mascarpone butter. The only question mark was the Hokkaido milk ice-cream which for a moment, I thought was vanilla or coconut ice-cream from Dairy Farm (Grade: 3.5/5).
