Recently tried out Sushi Kei located in Wan Chai, helmed by 3 professional chefs and operates under the supervision of Chef Jun who is a 2-Michelin starred chef in Hokkaido.

We ordered their 12 piece sushi set priced at $498 hkd per person + 10% service charge. The set comes with a chawanmushi, sushi, miso soup and dessert. 🍣

📝 Overall review:
— Decided to try this place out due to how popular it is on Instagram and honestly I was slightly disappointed ☹️
— The entire experience felt super rushed, we were in and out of the restaurant within 1 hour and it didn’t feel like we had adequate time to really savour the food.
— Taste wise it was average, everything was fresh but lacked flavours here and there. The chef was definitely trying to let the fish shine on its own but certain pieces definitely lacked flavour.
— The highlights were the hokkaido scallop, akagai and wild toro which was super fresh and the toro simply melted in your mouth.
— The uni hand roll is what I look forward to the most usually but this one was a bit underwhelming. The uni lacked richness and thought they could’ve been more generous with the amount.
— There was a good balance of red fish and white fish throughout the meal for a contrast of textures and flavours.

Overall rating:
😋Taste: food is average, the quick service time definitely knocked off some points
📍Ambiance: seating is comfortable, only serves 18 guests at a time, staff are attentive and friendly.
⭐️Would visit again?: Probably not
