Tao Heung, a popular chain of Chinese restaurants, always has some sort of monthly special. This time, boyfriend and I came here for a very simple dinner as we wanted Chinese and something warm. The Mong Gok branch is very big and they are split into two sections. One is for hotpot and what appeared to be a new item of steaming seafood from a steamer. The other section is for regular meals. We weren't in the mood for hotpot or steaming seafood so we sat at the regular a la carte ordering section.

Menu is only in Chinese. There is no English. Though they do have a grand menu in English. But the specials are in Chinese only.
A waiter was walking around with bowls of soup so we ordered one to share. It was covered with a lotus leaf. Unsure if that is for asthetitcs or for flavor. Inside was a double boiled soup full of things such as fish maw, abalone, shitake mushrooms and sea cucumber. It only cost $58 so not too bad in price. Soup was very sweet and packed with all the items mentioned inside. It was a fairly filling soup. For this month, they had a special of a rice wine steamed chicken for $68. Half a chicken was $38. We chose half a chicken so we could order another dish. The chicken was a bit over done and dry at parts. The sauce was overly oily. Or more correctly, it was sitting in oil. I guess hard to not be oily as chicken skin is well...pretty fat. The other dish we ordered was sweet and sour pork. This was a bit heavy on the coating. The sauce was also a bit more on the sour side than on the sweet side. Otherwise the pork was tender enough. A very nice average meal. Not great. But reasonably priced. It seems we go here quite a bit.
