First time visiting Marriott ocean park. Beautiful new hotel that looks kid friendly and special enough to do a staycation despite only being 1 stop away from Admiralty. Inside, there is Prohibition Grill House and Cocktail Bar. Arriving at around 7PM, the restaurant was empty. Arriving at around 7PM, the restaurant was empty. Me and my friend were not going in with high expectations, but just wanted to try a new steak place as most steak in HK is a disappointment and overpriced. Also, the empty restaurant did not help quell our fears.
We decided to order 2 cocktails, a large bone in rib eye to share, mushrooms and fries as sides. We wanted to save room for a baked alaska at the end. However, the waitress kept insisting we order an appetiser as she said the steak will take 25minutes to cook. We already told her no need as we will get dessert. As she insisted, we looked at the soups and appetisers but none that we could agree on and I also felt it would be enough food, so we finally confirmed we don't need any.
The cocktails came with the main as we asked and were quite big and mixed very well. But the main point of the meal was the steak and oh boy, it is certainly very high quality. Tender, beef taste. Much better than Morton's or the Steakhouse at Intercontinental HK! Wow, we wish we each ordered a steak and will do that next time, the sides were not bad but we would recommend you just get steak and forget about the fries.
The baked alaska was small relatively but good for two persons. Very delicious as well, could do with more "cake bottom" but the homemade ice cream mixture was very special, 3 flavours I think and most notably the pistachio layer was amazing.
One problem with the dinner was the waitress' attitude. When my friend and I asked her nicely to take a picture, not that the restaurant was busy, but she was standing near the cutlery area doing who knows what and said "Wait a second" angrily. We weren't ordering her to take a photo, we asked nicely and clearly she was in a bad mood. At the end of the dinner, maybe she heard us praising how good the steak was, she was suddenly in a better mood and happily cleared our dishes...
Also note HSBC platinum card holders have 15% off (not sure if only weekdays). Overall, the steak is certainly the best in HK and will visit again.
