After a week of hectic work, my colleague asked me out for dinner tonight and he knew of a place that served quality Chinese cuisine, using ancient way of cooking dishes. Joyful Peace Restaurant was located at Li Tak Street, Tai Kok Tsui, where alot of good food can be found. Their menu was comprehensive, offering a wide range of Chinese cuisine ranging from seafood, meat, vegetables, rice or noodles and drinks etc. Mala century egg - We ordered a starter to start with, and it was appetizing and
Mala century egg - We ordered a starter to start with, and it was appetizing and slightly spicy. Century egg was soft and smooth, absorbing the essence of the mala sauce. There were sliced cucumber and tomato cubes to mix with, making it refreshing.
Spicy typhoon shelter crab - It was presented exquisitely, with a big glass plate placed on top of a swan display. Garlic were fried till very flavourful, mixing well with the crab. Crab were very flavourful and slightly spicy, and was fresh and chewy. Crab was of big portion, able to serve 2 to 3 person.
Fresh frog cooked in spicy pot - The chef was generous with the portion, with alot of frog meat, beancurd, bean sprouts and mushroom etc in it. Gravy was spicy, with strong mala flavour. Frog meat was very soft and smooth, absorbing the essence of the mala taste.
Soy Sauce Fried Noodles - This dish can be easily found in most Chinese restaurants, and was fried till very flavourful, with strong wok hei. It has strong soy sauce taste and noodle was chewy as well.
Pudding with sweet corn - It was complimentary, served after we have finished our meal. It was smooth and chewy, sweet as well.
