I was in Tai Koo and decided to go to Aeon to buy some thing home for dinner as I was too lazy to cook. Lo and be hold! Aeon had undergone a complete change! Their renovations have been complete and the entire food court area has changed. Everything was new! I passed by this beautiful counter of tarts and had to stop and drool. Little signs were neatly placed in English and Chinese.
Fari-Beurre is from Tokyo and is easily found in Tokyo Station. It seems everytime I happen upon this place in Tokyo Station, I must buy one and devour like some escaped criminal that hasn't eaten in years. Seeing it now opened here, I had to stop and get one .. but ended up getting two. I love tarts. One is never enough for me.Fari-Beurre is actually franchised by Italian Tomato. The counter on the other side sells slices of Italian Tomato cakes while on the other side sells Fari-Beurre tarts. The tarts come in two sizes. Regular (which is quite big and shareable) and petite. I got two petite tarts: Orange custard and strawberry cream.
They packed it away in a nice sturdy box.
Two forks were securely placed inside as well. My tarts seemed to survive in one piece on my MTR ride home during a busy peak hour.
Orange Custard Tart ($28 for small size). The crust was beautiful flakey shortbread that held together well. However, the custard was a bit overcooked as it tasted a bit gummy. I wouldn't recommend the orange custard one.
Strawberry Shortcake Tart ($28 for small size). However, I must tell you to get this tart. It seems every time I'm in Japan, I have to have their pastries with strawberries and cream. Most notably strawberry shortcake. There is something the Japanese do that make this so magical. And this was exactly how I remembered why I love this bit of Japanese dessert so much. The crust was perfect. The cream was soft and slightly sweeth with a hint of vanilla. On top was a perfectly strawberry. Biting in you get another strawberry that is neatly placed on top of a piece of sponge cake. And if that doesn't make my heart flutter further, I found a third strawberry underneath! A THIRD STRAWBERRY! THREE STRAWBERRIES! Oh .... I think i went to heaven. I still have dreams of this tart.
