When asked what’s good in Sai Kung, people tend to say “Seafood!” No doubt Sai Kung does have some good seafood places, for example, the 1 starred Michelin restaurant - “Loaf On”. As I am not a big seafood lover, I am excited that more western restaurants are entering Sai Kung. Last Saturday, we had a brief escape away from the city, and dined at the tranquil Sai Kung! As I recall passing by a new open kitchen designed Parisian cafe a few weeks back, we decided to give it a try.Le Bonbon de Pari

As I am not a big seafood lover, I am excited that more western restaurants are entering Sai Kung. Last Saturday, we had a brief escape away from the city, and dined at the tranquil Sai Kung! As I recall passing by a new open kitchen designed Parisian cafe a few weeks back, we decided to give it a try.
Le Bonbon de Paris is a little (the tables are clustered together!) family style cafe well known for its handmade pasta. We arrived at the restaurant around half past eight. Luckily, there was a table for two left! There was a wide selection of pasta, snacks and breakfast sets on the menu. Every item on the menu had a picture next to it. After debating on what to get, we ordered the Gnocchi with Bolognese sauce set (comes with salad and a drink!) and the spinach and tomato pasta set (also comes with a drink!). For the pasta, you have the choice between tomato, spinach or beetroot. I went for a safer option – tomato pasta! As the cafe was not air-conditioned, we ordered the guava slushy and the lime ice tea to cool ourselves.
Given it had a small kitchen; we had to wait a while till our food arrived. First came the Gnocchi, the texture of the gnocchi was chewy and cooked to al dente. However, the pasta sauce was slightly bland, more tomatoes and seasonings could be added. I did not have a high expectation after the first pasta, but the second one was much better! The pasta was the key, you can tell that it was home made by the uneven cuttings and chewy texture. I really enjoyed the pasta base - creamy but light as tomato was added to neutralise the creaminess.

After the meal, we walked around leisurely and I spotted a new Spanish tapas restaurant! It will definitely be my next restaurant to visit in Sai Kung!
