As we needed a place to discuss future vacation plans, boyfriend and I decided to head to a cafe. And it was boyfriend who suggested a place he liked to go to when he works at home. The Corner Coffee is a cafe located in a building right next to the Wanchai footbridge. A place I've been to thousands of times. The building is across the street from McDonald's and you need to press 1A for them to let you in.Once inside, you discover that The Corner Coffee is part of a group of other individual s
Once inside, you discover that The Corner Coffee is part of a group of other individual shops that share the same space called H...Coffee and Shop. The Corner Coffee is at one corner. Seats are dotted around the entire area. It's mostly very relaxing camp seats and wooden benches. Surrounding the entire area are the various products sold by other shops. Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge. You order and pay for your food at Coffee Corner. A pager will be provided for you when the food is ready for pick up. It's pretty much self service so you bring your dirty dishes back to them. They offer lunch sets that come with a drink but when we arrived, we had just missed it.
I had a Latte ($40). The art was nicely done and the coffee was good. Nutty and smooth. Good temperature with the right amount of milk to espresso. Boyfrien had an Ice Mocha ($44). Very chocolatey and sweet without covering up the taste of coffee.
I had the Unadon Set Meal ($118). This came in the mess tin that is so popular among campers now. And as the place did have seating arrangements like you are camping, it fit right in. There was plenty of sauce to flavour the rice. The eel was soft and full of umami. The hard boiled egg was not over cooked as the yolk was still soft. The way I like it. The set also came with a lightly flavored miso soup with plenty of tofu and nori. There was also a small salad lightly dresse with sesame salad dressing. Boyfriend had the Cheesy Beef Burger with Truffle Sauce French Fries ($98). The burger patty was juicy and the whole thing held together without falling apart. The lettuce was crisp and the cheese was slightly melted. Could have been melted more but I guess it just looked prettier this way. The fries were hot and crispy with a nice soft centers. It came with truffle mayo for dipping.
Food was decent and the coffee was good. Surprisingly there was a fair number of people here. People who also found out about this hidden place. It was quiet with good wifi. A great place to work or a place to just chat. Definitely be back.
