"Wow!" was all my girlfriend and I could say even before we entered this truly awe-inspiring, glass-windowed, cavernous New York style establishment.

Looking around us our excitement grew for this well-turned out jem of Hollywood Road. Our sentiment is confirmed by the presence of a vibrant, young crowd and an impressive fleet of expensive cars lining outside Centrestage, the residential complex in which PR is located.

The brightly lit kitchen presented an intereresting contrast with the dim, buzzling dining area below, separated by a large staircase. Here, a well-stocked oyster bar and blackboard (wine) menu demanded our immediate attention. The bill of fare is a mix of continental dishes with a strong emphasis on seafood. The lobster risotto ($118) is something to die for.

Another speciality is the cheese selection that this restaurant offered, in conjunction with its siser outlet a few metres away, HK's first dedicated wine and cheese bar (but that's another story). Last but not least don't miss the banana chocolate crepe which this place makes to near perfection.

I cannot leave this post without applauding the wine list which is simply the best in terms of value and selection I have come across in HK restaurants. Have you ever have seen a five-star hotel offering red and white burgundies by the glass (pity about the the lack of matching glasses and the less than generous size of the pouring)? Among them are top flight domaines such as Leroy, Verget and JJ Confuron. And importantly for me, unlike the fancy hotels, this place does not regard itself as having the licence to rip you off on the wine. I will definitely come back to sample the wide range of full bottle options, both New World and Old World!

There is no doubt in my mind that PR has set a new standard for the 'greater Soho' dining scene, and one that will prove hard to beat.
