I rarely write reviews of places I've already reviewed. I think it skews opinion too much in one reviewer's favor. However, I do sometimes make exceptions, either if I'm morally outraged enough, or if they change the menu enough. This case, thankfully, falls into the latter category.Burritos! Yonge Piggie is now the closest place to my house serving burritos. Well, maybe Taco Chaca is, but I don't really like their burritos. This was a development I just had to look into. The burrito is mostly ri
I ordered steak and it comes with three small-ish pieces of steak. The first was very chewy, quite poor quality meat. My wife got the second piece trying my burrito and said "my piece isn't chewy... oh wait, yes it is." So quality and quantity wise, the meat isn't much to speak of, and I highly recommend you avoid the steak.
There's a nice array of condiments to choose from, including guacamole, cheese, sour cream, salsa, and any of the things that they put on hot dogs (tomatoes, onions, etc). I just wish they had a spicy salsa.
I'd probably go with a hot dog if I came back, to tell you the truth. The burrito gets a "meh" from me: C- I got a fresh lemonade and it was rather good. I was very thirsty so I more or less chugged it. A little on the sweet side, but something's gotta cut the bitterness. A- My wife got the chicken burrito. "Slightly better than OK, but I wouldn't say it was good," she says. I'm gonna go with C+. It's better than the steak one, because the chicken isn't gristly inedible, but you also get a small amount, and it's also kinda dry and overcooked. I still love the fries here. Really, that's probably the only the thing I'll ever order at this place again. And maybe a lemonade. A-
I like the burrito "trend" in HK... if you can call the existence of Little Burro and now this a trend. I like to think it's softening the market up for, y'know, actually good burritos. But we haven't reached that stage yet.
[Note: I almost wrote a second review of this place shortly after my first review. My first time here I just had a hot dog. Second time around, I and some friends came for the milkshakes. We ordered milkshakes and they took about 15 minutes to come. It was clear that the people working the counter were googling "how to make a milkshake." When they were brought out, the woman bringing them said "Ice cream sundae???" as though she wanted us to confirm that these were, indeed, ice cream sundaes. Which they weren't. And they weren't milkshakes either. Mine was thickened milk with some extremely crunchy bacon bits mixed in. It was the worst... ice cream sundae? milk shake? thing?... I ever had. I hear now maybe they have pretty good milkshakes. Maybe the burritos will improve too?]
