Sincce I had to do some work related stuff at the medical association in the building next door, I decided to have lunch at Papillon Cafe. I'm always willing to try out a new cafe and this gave me an excuse to be in the area.Situated on the 17th floor of Hopewell Center is a rather spacious cafe with plenty of wonderul windows to bring in natural light. The chairs are purposely chipped to give an antique homey feel. Service was friendly and prompt. As it was a weekend, they had a weekend brunch

Service was friendly and prompt. As it was a weekend, they had a weekend brunch menu that included things like all day breakfasts.

Traditional Eggs Benedict ($98). As I was watching Masterchef Junior Season 3 last night where this 12 year old was making a hollandaise and an 11 year old was teaching her how, I had a sudden craving for eggs benedict. Anyways .... the restaurant offers you a choice of two different styles of eggs benedict from 5 different varieties. I decided on wild mushroom with spinach and parma ham, arugula and truffles. It was served with a side of salad. Salad was ok. It was drizzled with a reduced balasmic vinegar sauce which I liked. The poached eggs were perfectly poached. The yolk just flowed out wonderfully. The English muffins were a great base for mopping up all the yolk. The wild mushrooms with spinach was a great choice to compliment the eggs. The mushrooms were sauteed lightly and everything just melted together. The parma ham was ok. There wasn't a lot of arugula. And the truffles were actually truffle paste and could have been skipped as it added nothing to the eggs.

Honey cinnamon latte ($30). When it was placed before me, I loved the heavenly smell of cinnamon. However, that was pretty much it. The latte was a pretty weak, overly milky. My dad is right ... honey should never be added to coffee. It basically wasn't a good cup of coffee.

The food was ok. Nothing spectacular about. The coffee was pretty bad. The whole experience made me feel like I was in Simply Life....an ok place, not spectacular. Good if you are in the area and want to eat something. But not worth a trip to purposely come. I don't think I'd return as there are far better cafe options in Wanchai.
