It was always eventful when the trio gathered to savour good food; this was no exception. We tried the lunch set advertised in the Restaurant Week; and, but for the unpleasant experience at the end of the meal, this was actually good value for money. The triple-dim-sum appetizer was fair, and so was the tofu stew. The sweet and sour breaded pork chops were quite delightful. The triple-dim-sum appetizer was fair, and so was the tofu stew. The sweet and sour breaded pork chops were quite delightful. The fried rice was nice in texture and consistency, though it was slightly bland and dry, nothing which couldn't be remedied by a bit of sauce or seasoning. The flexibility of the restaurant in letting us change from spinach pasta to e-fu noodles was admirable, and the stir fry noodles tasted good. The almond tea was of the usual Chinese dessert quality.
The crowning faux-pas, the scary climax came near the end of the meal when a live cockroach was found on our table!!! It was quickly contained by me (as my lunch companions went berserk); yet the manner of the staff, when informed of the incident, rendered this an even sorrier event.
First of all, it took about ten minutes for the managerial officer to arrive at the scene of the crime. Secondly, the staff behaved as if they were not at all accountable, and those responsible for the vermin were the housekeeping and pest control teams only. Last but not least, the indifference and nonchalance displayed by staff could only mean that either a cockroach was a common occurrence (thus they did not see why we had to make a fuss) in their premises, or they don't really care about the hygiene of this eatery at all.
This has completely ruined my impression of the restaurant and the hotel, and warranted my duly reporting the incident to the authorities concerned. No matter how this turns out, it suffices to say that I am not going to return.
