Came here as I received an email from CitySuper as I have a CitySuper card to let me know that the Log-on Cafe in Cityplaza had a special Marimekko afternoon tea set. There are two available prices. The set for one costs $78 while the set for two costs &128. Both sets include a fresh strawberry tart, matcha fantasy, cream brulee, sausage danish bar and choice of coffee, tea or green tea latte. The set for two also has a smoked salmon canape. If you keep the ad, you can bring it to Marimekko in C
I ordered the set for one as I was by myself. Log-on Cafe has placed one wall with the infamous Marimekko patterns and the staff are all wearing Marimekko patterened aprons. Even the tea set was placed on Marimekko patterned trays, plates and cups.
Pretty? Let's take a look at them one by one.
I ordered a green tea latte. It had a pretty heart drawn on it. It was also thick and rich with matcha. I loved it. If you order the leaf tea, it is served in a Marimekko patterned tea pot.
Fresh strawberry fruit tart was delicate and so cute. The strawberry was sweet. The tart crust was cookie-like. The tiny bit of custard was not too sweet.
Matcha Fantasy was a green tea cake with some fruit in the middle and gold flecks on top. It was rich in matcha and very moist. This was very good.
Cream brulee cracked perfectly when I tapped on the top. It wasn't overly sweet, very smooth and rich in vanilla. I noted that actuall vanilla beans were used as there were still black flecks from the seeds in the custard.
Sausage Danish bar was alright. Out of the all the items, this was the only one I didn't really like. It was a bit cold and the Danish was a bit chewy.
A pretty good tea set at a fairly reasonable price. The promotion is only until December 14.
