Trying out the newly opened Nikuya, a sukiyaki specialist restaurant that started off as an online store selling premium quality beef and at/home sukiyaki sets. They’ve now opened a physical restaurant in TST so I had to go try this out! 🥩🇯🇵 ✨ We ordered 1 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗮 𝗚𝘆𝘂 𝗦𝘂𝗸𝗶𝘆𝗮𝗸𝗶 𝗦𝗲𝘁 and 1 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗮 𝗚𝘆𝘂 𝗦𝘂𝗸𝗶𝘆𝗮𝗸𝗶 𝗦𝗲𝘁 priced at $398 hkd and $498 hkd respectively! Pic 1️⃣&2️⃣: 霜降A5薩摩牛切片 (180g)
— The marbling on this was pretty impressive, and the wagyu slices pretty much melted in your mouth. The 2 smaller slices (pic 2) was definitely the showstopper as it was so tender, fatty, with a strong aroma to it. All of the beef slices really only needed about 10-15 seconds on the heat to prevent it from overcooking, but also they were thin enough to allow the flavours of their sukiyaki sauce to seep through well enough.


Pic 3️⃣: 赤身A5薩摩牛切片 (180g)
— Compared to the top quality set, the beef in this set is slightly less fatty, with less marbling, and a lot more lean. However, the beef flavour is more prominent and the meat has a bit more chew to it. Still pretty good though!


Pic 4️⃣: 前菜 (生牛肉,胡麻豆腐 & 牛肉丸)
— A really nicely presented appetiser platter. My favourite amongst the 3 was the beef meatball, which was also mixed in with chicken cartilage for an extra crunch. This was also really well seasoned! The sesame tofu was light and refreshing, but I personally wasn’t a huge fan of the raw beef slice at it didn’t taste of much.


Pic 5️⃣: 野菜盛盒
— Decent vegetable platter, the konnyaku noodles and tofu are always a favourite as they soak up all the flavours of the sauce.


Pic 6️⃣: 蘭王蛋及無菌蛋
— Love that they incorporate 2 types of egg for the dipping sauce here, one with a darker, richer flavoured yolk, and one with a smoother texture for a good balance.
