Went at the recommendation of a colleague (who knows one of the owners). Was told during reservation that we can only have the table for 2 hours....not a good first impression. Asked my colleague and she said that we might be able to stay a bit longer.

Waiter asked if we wanted sparkling or still, I replied that I wanted tap water, which is available for free. Nice to see that the waitor didn't give us the dirty look for that. Didn't bother having wine since we might not have enough time to enjoy it.

Appetizers were decent. Lobster Risotto can be a meal in itself and the Wild Salmon with pancakes were also good. Wanted some oysters but the prices were ridiculous....$65 for a cheerystone clam and White Pearl. This is even more expensive than the fine dining restaurants at IFC!!

My friend strongly recommended the steak frites, which we ordered 4, plus a lamb chop, duck bolognese and coq au vin.

Steak frites were ok. Steak was typical done in HK fashion...always overcooked. I ordered medium-rare and it came out medium at best...there was no juice when I cut it open.

The other dishes were ok, though the prices were a little high for a French bistro type of restaurant without any big reputation. Coq au vin was a bit dry. Also tasted like the chicken was not cooked with the wine.

Waiter came at around 9:15 and asked if we wanted dessert since we have to return the table at 9:30. Obviously we declined given the time.

Overall the place is decent, but I find it really annoying that I have to rush and return the table to them after 2 hours although the restaurant's style is suppose to be relaxing. I wonder how the foreigners that were at the resturant think about that policy. All I can say is that the restaurant is run by typical HK businessman....squeezing the most profits out in the shortest time.

For the price, I have lots of other better choices than the Press Room.
