This stretch of Lei King Wan is lovely and quiet as it is right along the harbor. There are a bunch of restaurants along this street with some hits and misses. I've passed by this restaurant numerous times but never tried it, so I decided to grab lunch here with 3 other girls on a Friday afternoon. The restaurant was already pretty busy by the time we got there and as we didn't make a reservation, the only seats they had left were at the bar. It was less than ideal as it would be hard for the 4

It was less than ideal as it would be hard for the 4 of us to chat, but we decided to stay anyways. All of the seats here are high chairs with high tables, which emit a sense of casual dining environment. It would be great to grab drinks here during happy hour as well. The restaurant was bright and airy as the windows and the doors were left open to take advantage of the natural sunlight from the sea.

They offered a 4 course express lunch for $88 with soup/salad, tomato toast, paella with your choice of grilled fish/meat/vegetables, and churros as dessert. If the express lunch doesn't appeal to you, they also have other lunch sets on the back where you can pick any 2 dishes with 4 different price ranges from $88 to $178. Because of the way we were sitting, I ended up sharing with my friend M who decided to get the express lunch while I chose 2 dishes from the $88 lunch set on the back - grilled squid and crispy shrimps.

I'm guessing this is their regular menu during dinner which was used a a place mat during my meal. The prices are higher than lunch of course, but still looked reasonable.

Tomato Soup - All of the lunch sets came with a choice of soup or salad and I chose soup. The soup of the day was a tomato soup, and it was drizzled with some olive oil which looked promising at all. The texture of the soup was clumpy and the taste was not as sweet as I like my tomato soups to be. It was decent enough I guess but not impressive.

Pan Con Tomate - Bread with tomato spread on top. It was surprisingly good and flavorful, and the bread was toasted just right so it was nice and crispy. Only complaint was that they poured a bit too much olive oil on the bread so it was quite oily for some of the bites.

Paella with Grilled Fish - Very disappointing as the rice had no flavor! There was no seasoning and it was very bland. I mean even plain Jasmine rice has flavor but this doesn't at all. The redeeming factor was the fish which was grilled nicely as it was flaky in texture. The seasoning of the fish was still a bit of the light side. Overall, this dish was a fail compared to other paellas that I've had.

Grilled Squid with Herbs & Spices - The squid were grilled nicely so it wasn't tough or chewy which can be the case if overcooked. The seasoning was light which was good in this case so you can taste the natural flavor of the squid. I give it a pass.

Crispy Shrimps with Chilli - The shrimps weren't exactly crispy and didn't taste fresh. I had a few that didn't have any of the chilli paste, and the shrimps were bland and flavorless. The paste/sauce was quite spicy actually. I had to smear some of the spicy sauce to add more flavor to the shrimps. Not recommended.

Churros & Chocolate - Ever since I had the churros at Catalunya, I've been looking forward to eating some again! I was excited to find out that the dessert of our set lunch was churros with chocolate dipping sauce. The ones at Catalunya were light and crunchy. Unfortunately, the churros here are a bit hard on the outside with too much dough on the inside. They turned out to be pretty heavy. They didn't sit well in my stomach and I had to drink some tea to help with the digestion afterwards.

Compared to the other Spanish tapas restaurants I've tried in HK like 22 Ships/FoFo/Mesa 15, the food here was neither as creative nor as good in comparison. I think it can be a great spot to chill for happy hour due to its location by the sea and its open decor, but I think you will be disappointed if you come here solely for the food.
