Checking out the new MTR station, boyfriend and I stopped here for food as I was getting a bit hungry.Cafe 100% is a cha chan teng. It appears to be a chain and found in several areas in Hong Kong. Much like Tsui Wah and Tai Hing. Menu is in Chinese and English with no 10% service charge.We arrived during afternoon tea session so the afternoon tea menu was available. We arrived during afternoon tea session so the afternoon tea menu was available. All sets came with an ice red bean milk drink.
Rice Noodles with Sliced Golden Fish Cakes ($24). I ordered this. It was a bit too much MSG. That was not surprising. What was surprising was the vermicelli noodles were soft and mushy. I've never had soft and mushy vermicelli as it's pretty much impossible to overcook. The fish cakes tasted like sponge.
The ice red bean drink was mostly milk. Like 90% of the drink was milk. It also tasted a bit like they mixed it with condensed milk as well. The red bean was undercooked so still crunchy.
Deep Fried Chicken Leg ($23). The chicken leg boyfriend ordered fared a bit better. The meat was not dry but it was much too salty.
Very cheap prices. As we sat there, we noticed everyone ordered a $5 pineapple bun set. That is really cheap. Obviously, we should have followed what the people who live around here ordered. Not that I'd be back as there are far better cha chan tengs out there.
