雲桂香米線專門店 (English name: Yugu Noodle) is much like TamJai. They also have several locations. What they offer is mixian noodles with a sour spicy soup base with various options to build on. As we've been to TamJai many many times, we decided to try the competition.Menu is in Chinese only. There is no English menu and no 10% service charge. Boyfriend ordered their signature mixian ($28). He also added squid and mince pork for an additional price. The soup was not that good. It was just spicy but not fragrant. The mince pork was added into the bowl so it disappeared away. The squid was fresh.
I had the pre-selected herbal chicken soup ($49) as it was not spicy and added fish tofu. The chicken soup had a light chicken taste but no real herbal taste. The mixian was chewy and smooth. There was some cordyceps which were bland. And the chicken was tough and bland.
The fish tofu was shaped like stars and served on the side. It was probably the best item we had.
The food lacked any real depth of flavor and wasn't too good. Cheap, yes. But didn't taste that great. Won't be back.
