When it comes to popular fast food burgers, there was the choice of McDonald's, Burger King, Dairy Queen or Wendy's. My usual choice was always Burger King. Whenever I went home to Canada and had to stop for a transfer flight, I'd stop at Burger King for the first of many burgers while I was home. So, when this opened in Hong Kong, I was over joyed! Of course, that joy ended when the burgers were sub par and then it closed all together except for three locations: The Peak, the Hung Hum MTR stati
And so here I was. At the airport, waiting to board a plane to Tokyo. The land of exciting food. Which is probably why I haven't been much into eating a lot of the food since my return back as the food was so excellent there, everything here has been uninspiring. As I had some time before boarding, I spotted Burger King and yes ... I declared to myself. My last meal in Hong Kong before I head to the land of the rising sun is Burger King.
I ordered a double Whopper with bacon and BBQ sauce. It came with a set of fries and a drink that set me back $73. $73! I stared at my receipt. When did Burger King get so expensive?
Now I'm not naive. I know that photos are representative only and not what the actual food looks like. The photo was a gloriously high standing burger. This was one squashed down version. Biting into it,. I expected that wonderful juicy burger patty but instead it was dry. The bacon was chewy and not crispy at all. The BBQ sauce they stated was pretty much nonexistent and taste like ketchup. I munched away sadly at how bad Burger King in Hong Kong is. And how super expensive it was. No wonder people go to McDonald's. Because if you are going to eat the same dry burger from a fast food chain, you might as well to McDonald's as it's a whole lot cheaper. Yeah...needless to say. I won't be back to Burger King in Hong Kong. I'll just eat it whenever I go home to Canada.
