I've been looking at places for Omakase in Hong Kong. Apparently the time that I want to go was the time the japanese fish market was closed, so many restaurants were closed. Eventually, I've called up Sushi Ta-ke and was told that the restaurant would be open. I was a little hesitant to try, as I've called about 3-4 restaurants without any luck. Either way, it was one of the restaurants that I wanted to try and the review on openrice wasn't bad. So we gave it a shot. When I made the reservation
I was a little hesitant to try, as I've called about 3-4 restaurants without any luck. Either way, it was one of the restaurants that I wanted to try and the review on openrice wasn't bad. So we gave it a shot. When I made the reservation, the host had asked if we would like to sit at the bar. I thought that was a great idea as with my previous omakase experience, sitting at the bar gives you the most experience and interaction with the chef.
The restaurant was pretty empty when we went in at around 7ish. We were there for the omakase, so we were just deciding which one we wanted. The chef special have something that I'm not too fond of. So we end up choosing the Omakase Ta-ke. which was $1500HKD per person. There was quite a few options.
Overall it was good, but wasnt AMAZING. The uni was yum yum, but for the price I am paying ... it BETTER be good. The egg, really surprised me. I thought it was cake, but it's really egg, with the texture of the cake. I really enjoyed that. Everything else was pretty good. but really not worth the price I am paying for.
I personally wouldn't come back, as I can probably get better quality for the price I am paying elsewhere or cheap price and same quality.
I would say, the service there was good. Maybe they just have a lot of staff around, so they are very attentive.
