A while ago, I asked a coworker who lives nearby what he usually eats in his residential area. And he said 半島冰室 (English name: Angus Cafe). A regular cha chan teng that every time I walk by this place, there's always people waiting for a table. It's odd, too as this place is always packed but the cha chan teng around the corner and all the other eateries are quiet.Curious, boyfriend and I came here for an early dinner for this place closes at 6 PM.Menu is in English and Chinese. Curious, boyfriend and I came here for an early dinner for this place closes at 6 PM.
Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge. They seemed to serve the usual cha chan teng items along with never before seen ones like crab claw?
They have some interesting names for certain sets.
As we arrived right before closing, we decided on items from the afternoon tea menu. Items come with a drink.
I had the deep fried chicken leg with tomato sauce and fried egg but instead of rice, I changed it to spaghetti ($36). The portions was huge. The pasta was ok and there was a runny egg on top. The tomato sauce was a bit weak. Like watered down tomato sauce. But the chicken leg! WOW! It was truly juicy. When I sliced into it, I literally saw those fat juices flowing down. The skin was crispy. The meat was so moist and tender. AND! It was cooked all the way through. Not one part was raw. This was fabulous!
Boyfriend had the pork chop spaghetti with Malaysian curry ($37). It said fish but it was easily interchanged with pork chop. The pork chop was so huge! It was deep fried to perfection. The coating was crispy and nicely seasoned. The meat was moist and tender. The curry was very spicy.
No wonder there are so many people here. The food was great, large portions and reasonably priced. The service fast. Place was clean. I'll be back.
