Spent over $6000 for a bad experience on Father’s Day. We were two families celebrating Father’s Day at Porterhouse. The food and service were fine. What made it a bad experience was how the staff rushed us out of the door. We booked online and pre-paid for 4 adults and 5 kids but the restaurant charged us for 6 adults and 3 kids instead. We were two families celebrating Father’s Day at Porterhouse. The food and service were fine. What made it a bad experience was how the staff rushed us out of the door.
We booked online and pre-paid for 4 adults and 5 kids but the restaurant charged us for 6 adults and 3 kids instead. We asked about the bill then Porterhouse corrected it.
Towards the end, the staff came to tell us that the restaurant closed at 3pm. At 3:15pm, the manager came by and told us we had to leave. He did not offer us to sit at the terrace or another solution. Even before 3pm, we did not ask for any service. We acknowledged that the restaurant closed at 3pm and the staff could’ve cleared the table and set up table for dinner. We didn’t require the staff to serve us at all and understand they deserve a rest. All we wanted was to sit as the table or another alternative within the restaurant which was never offered. Instead they told us we had to leave at 3:15pm. We felt very unwelcomed.
Manny restaurants that off e Buffett may close the Buffett at a certain time but they allow the guests to sit at the table. This was not the case at Porterhouse. Their hour is 12-3pm and they really expect you to pay and be out of the restaurant exactly by 3pm. It would’ve made no difference to the staff to leave us at a table or the terrace but instead they had to ask us to leave.
This really put a damper to our Father’s Day experience. Even though the food is fine, I’ll never come back or recommend it to anyone. There are many restaurants with better service in HK where they make you feel welcomed. Pirata group restaurants always respect the guests and ensure the guests have a good experience. I’ll take my business there next time.
