There is something about APM. It seems we always are stuck with mediocre food choices. Of all the malls in Hong Kong, this one probably has a lot of really mundane selections. As we were here and not sure what to eat elsewhere, we decided on a new place called Cow Man Kai. It said best Hainan chicken rice from Thailand. The setting is very fast food-like. You order and pay at the cashier. The food is then brought to you when ready. Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge.
I had the Hainan Chicken Rice ($65) It ame with a bowl of chicken rice and vegetables. The vegetables were old and chewy. The rice was dry despite the taste of oil in it. And the chicken? Just bland and dry. For a place bragging it's the best, it sure wasn't in my book.
Boyfriend ordered the special of the day: braised beef short ribs ($70). It also came with plain rice and vegetables. This was really terrible as well. The sauce just tasted like watered down tomato sauce. The beef was tough to chew. The carrots were a bit crunchy and didn't soak up any of the sauce. There was also some lotus root where one wasn't even soaked with sauce. It was still a bit raw.
Probably one of the most dismally bad meals I've had in a long time. Prices were not cheap as well. Definitely not value for money. Won't be back.
