Undeniably one of the hardest restaurants to book in town. Thanks to my friend who secured a booking (honestly I lost the will to try), excited to try their highly acclaimed signature roasted chicken. Wine lovers would die for their extensive wine collection at reasonable price. Of course, their over the top wine display set as the insta-backdrop which need no further intro. Cold Angel Hair, Kristal Caviar, Kombu $390
It’s the French fine dining version of 蔥油撈麵 😂 Angel hair is so fine and mixed really well with the caviar, the kombu and white truffle oil brings out the savory umami that flavor the entire dish. Amazing dish and I love it.

clam sauce , German asparagus, so sweet and crunchy, refreshing with subtle clam flavor but the dill aroma is the dominant flavor. but asparagus is truly gorgeous.

Morel Farci, Buckwheat, Madiera Sauce $280
Morel stuffed with chicken mousse, there’s a smoky aroma that hit instantly, the Madeira sauce is perfectly reduced with right intensity. The flavor of the chicken mousse and sauce dominates and overwhelmed the morel. The. Love the garlic leaf on top that brings additional fragrance.

Bâtard’s Signature Roast Chicken, warm Pilaf Rice $880
And then it’s the chicken time. Steamed then fridge before roasting. The chicken is golden and glossy, succulent tender meat, absolutely nailed it. But the skin is not as crispy as I’d expect, much fat still stick to the skin and not completely detached when roasting. But flavor-wise, it’s absolutely bang on! So incredibly deep in flavor, so well marinated and seasoned, it doesn’t need any sauce or jus, the flavor is already sooo rich within the meat, that’s very impressive. The flavor then also carried over to the Pilaf rice which is also incredibly tasty full of chicken aroma.

Apple Tart with homemade vanilla ice cream $150
A classic puff pastry with apple filling served with vanilla ice cream. The tart is very thin with nicely crispy edges but not much layers for crunch and it’s neither indulgent or buttery.

Fresh Baked Madeleines $120
A little disappointed as they are only served lukewarm. Crispy edges but not the most fluffy, not hot enough is the biggest downfall.
All dishes are just served warm but not hot, nothing comes out with hot steam (the sourdough included..) something the kitchen may need to look into. Commendable to the staff who kindly offer to reheat our chicken and rice halfway though. The menu is very similar to Louise, so it’s hard not to compare. But overall, Louise triumphs in both food and service. So was it worth the effort to book? Not really unless you’re here for the wine.
