Casual and cheap place with some outdoor seating in Central, next to a few dai pai dongs that only open for lunchtime. Had dumplings the first time I came with friends, and then came back again the next day! We came for a late lunch, around 2:30pm, on Saturday. It was crowded inside but not full, and the outside seating was quite pleasant for staying to chat a bit.I've circled what I ordered in the photo. I've circled what I ordered in the photo. There are two kinds of dumplings, but the one with leeks (spring onion maybe?) is way better, the veggies lend a satisfying texture and go well with vinegar. If you're feeling adventurous you can order half-half. Dumplings can also be ordered along with Yunnan "mai seen," instant noodles, soupy rice, or Shanghai-style noodles (probably the stuff that comes with wuntun noodles) for a bit more, but the skin around the dumplings is usually carbs enough for me.
For once, something looks better in real life than it does on the menu. I ordered something that sounds like "wa-wa choy," choy meaning vegetable, $14. A cross between bak choy and lettuce. And there's my big glass of Ovaltine, at an additional $6 to my dumplings.I haven't tried anything else yet, but there is going to be at least one good thing to order off the menu! Service was very friendly (I do speak Cantonese, not sure how they fare with English speakers) and quick. I'll be making this a regular Central haunt for when I don't feel like spending $200 on a meal.
