When I went to Sushi Hiro shortly after 1pm, it was already full and the receptionist directed me to Ten Yoshi on the 9/f, where single seats were still available. So i was led to a seat at the Tempura Bar, where three chefs were busy cutting, battering and frying all sorts of tempura. I thought that the ventilation was very good as there was no oily smell in the air.I ordered a sushi rice set ($140), which came with a egg custard, a small veggie appetizer, miso soup, fruit and then coffee. I ordered a sushi rice set ($140), which came with a egg custard, a small veggie appetizer, miso soup, fruit and then coffee. The egg custard was delicious, and i dare say it was one of the best i have ever had. The rice box was also great, and the toppings were nicely arranged, including sea urchins, salmon roe, scallops, tuna, and octopus. The octopus was very tender and tasty, Other condiments on the rice included mushroom and seaweed.
Unlike some Japanese restaurants, where servers would greet incoming customers loudly, Ten Yoshi is quiet and the ambience is very relaxing. The service is discreet yet attentive. Overall, a very pleasant experience. Next time I would try the tempura set.
