One of the restaurants on my to go list, 121BC in central. The entrance located at a slope and took me a while to find it, no thanks to google maps. We were welcomed by the staff upon our arrival and talked us through the menu and their signature dishes. We ended up ordering the parma ham, lamb ribs, two dishes of pasta and their signature wagyu steak.

The parma ham was decent and the pasta were quite nice as well, however the main focus of the meal was the wagyu steak. It was served medium rare and very flavourful. At the same time the steak did not feel too filling for each bite. I enjoyed the wagyu on its own however it was also served with some anchovy gravy which I was not a fan of. The gravy was a bit too fishy for my taste and did not match the steak in my opinion. I prefer old fashioned horseradish sauce or mustard instead. The portion of the steak was also slightly smaller than expected which was a bit of a surprise for me as it looked bigger in the pictures.

Overall, I think this restaurant is worth a visit if you have never been before but can also explore other italian restaurants in Central.

Roasted artichoke came next. Surprisingly yummy. Artichoke tasted fresh, not bitter at all. Mixture of cherry tomatoes, crisps and generous helping of pine nuts balanced well with the artichoke. Parmesan custard was thick, but added to the texture. Good.

We ordered 2 pastas. Since we were sharing, chef made a point that the dishes should come one after the other.
First was the vegetarian maltagliati with eggplant and tomatoes covered in copious amounts of ricotta salata. In Italian, ‘maltagliati’ means ‘badly cut’. These square-shaped flat pasta pieces started life as the remains of rolled out tagliatelle pasta dough, typically found in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy.
Ricotta salata means “salted ricotta” in Italian, and is made by salting ricotta and then pressing it and drying it.
Pasta was al dente, but the dish was much too salty for me.

Then came the braised beef cheek pappardelle with gremolata and (chopped and mixed) porcini. Pappardelle is a large, broad and flat pasta, similar to wide fettuccine, originating from the region of Tuscany.
Gremolata is a green sauce consisting usually of chopped parsley, lemon zest, and minced garlic, and is used especially with osso buco. It’s a good idea to include the sauce here but the taste was overpowered by the very salty (again) beef and pasta mixture. Also couldn’t taste the porcini mushrooms at all.

I just love this kind of causal eatery with homey food and extensive and well-crafted wine list❤️𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝘂𝘁 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿Some very nice snacks as the starter to go with the wine. I especially love the pickled celery. It has very intense sour at the first bite while the mild sweetness emerges snd lingers. This is by far the best pasta🍝 I have had in 2021. All their pasta are homemade and make-to-order. The wild boar’s unique gamey flavour is so strong and rich as if a bomb 💣 that explodes in your palate. This flat and rough pasta is perfect for this meaty ragu sauce and each piece carries loads of sauce. The al-dente texture just gives my teeth the best chewing experience that I still crave for right now😋

The most famous main here. A perfectly cooked medium rare steak 🥩 is undoubtedly delicious. The char on the outside is aromatic and adds extra flavour to the meat. The anchovy butter 🧈 unexpectedly matches the steak. It is an umami x umami combination😆

There is two large communal tables in the middle, and on the side is a bar featuring lots of spirits and wines, with the open kitchen on the other end. With no dinner service due to social distancing, we came for lunch and picked the lunch menu which offered a starter, a main course and a dessert ($220 each). But to start I also had a Ver-Gin Mojito ($80), which is refreshing and nice.

Both of us opted for Balsamic and Rosemary Glazed Lamb Rib as our starter. The lamb rib has been grilled nicely, with a crisp skin and tender meat, infused with the signature rosemary aromas. The balsamic vinegar provided a nice acidity to match wonderfully with the fat of the lamb, as well as giving a nice savory character to making the lamb even more tasty. The salad vegetable is a good supplement as well.

For the main, I have chosen the Pappardelle, featuring Wild Boar Ragu, Kale and Pecorino. The very flat and broad pasta is homemade and having a nice bite, and is a great match with the pulled wild boar meat, which is good in taste and not 'rubbery' on texture. The kale is a nice addition giving some greens to complement, and the generous shavings of pecorino cheese not only gives a nice flavor to the dish, but also helps to thicken the sauce to make it sticking to the pasta. A wonderful pappardelle.

My wife had picked the Tagliatelle, with Spanner Crab and N'duja. Again the pasta is homemade and seeing how she enjoyed it I can imagine it also tastes good. The amount of spanner crab meat is pretty generous, and with the special n'duja spicy pork sauce prompted my urge to try that out next time.

For dessert I had Pistachio Gelato, while my wide had Lemon and Rosemary Sorbet. The gelato is rather mediocre comparatively, not bad, but got nothing memorable. It seems the sorbet is better in taste however.

Service is quite nice, with the staff attentive and friendly. The bill was $572 which is reasonable in my opinion. If you want to enjoy some nice homemade pasta, and also sample some Italian wines the restaurant source directly from the producers, this is a good place to consider.

Paparadelle係種非常闊身嘅意大利麵,但除此之外口感同tagliatelle差唔多,同樣地都係覺得硬咗少少,同未算太掛汁🙈。
呢款係配Ragu牛肉醬🐮同樣有大量一絲絲嘅牛肉,調味好似燉牛肉咁,非常濃郁。
但問題又係個醬汁比較稀,無平時嗰啲肉醬意粉咁稠,所以未能完全掛上麵條,加上呢款意粉更加闊,所以冇牛肉嘅時候就會淡咗啲。

呢度可以品嚐到傳統意大利菜式嘅味道🇮🇹有各種手工制嘅麵條,個人喜好略嫌麵條硬咗少少 (同dough kitchen有啲似,如果你鍾意嗰間就應該會鍾意呢一間)🙈另外,可能傳統意粉都比較少用忌廉,所以醬汁比較稀,如果冇晒啲蟹肉或者牛肉就覺得淡咗少少(自己未去過意大利,可能呢個係意大利正宗嘅味道?),不過就咁食蟹肉嗰陣就真係好鮮甜🦀我覺得不過不失,食個casual lunch都可以。

First, we need to remind for the birthday wording on dessert; Second, when we were ordering pasta, the staff not recommending us to try their signature pasta (Sea Urchin. Salmon Roe pasta), which was really strange..🤔🤔

我自問真係好少比負評系列😂蘇豪區一向都有好多小眾餐廳 有時誤打誤撞真係可以搵到啲性價比好高嘅餐廳☺️ 話說我就係比網上面大家share嘅海膽意粉吸引咗去呢間好隱蔽嘅意大利餐廳 地方細細但係裝修好有feel感覺好cosy🥰 環境加裝修抵讚!.不過不得不彈兼扣分第一!餐廳嘅上菜速度超級慢 我只係嗌咗兩個前菜加兩個意粉前前後後要三個鐘先食完 平均每30-40分鐘先上一碟實在太太太慢 究竟我係咪食緊高級法國菜😂 第二!話說我本身係無order呢客招牌海膽意粉 而係order咗main course嘅sea bass 不過落錯咗單又唔想重新再等就諗住照食 不過係咪點睇都爭緊啲嘢呢😏 食落係只有三文魚籽嘅腥味 對比網上面大家share嘅圖就知道係落漏咗個汁😅 由廚房岀菜到上枱都可以無員工發現🤯超扣分第三!餐廳竟然將我哋買去嘅生日蛋糕上咗比隔離枱 然後嗰枱客人話佢哋無keep蛋糕個店員先知上錯咗 最後有驚無險都叫有翻個蛋糕上枱但係刀都唔比😧 仲收切餅費🙄總括嚟講就係可一不可再 絕對係負評
