這個真的是二人餐嗎?份量大得我這樣的大食客都能捧著肚子的說飽飽。肉眼扒外層烤得香脆,內裡剛好仍保留玫瑰色的嫩肉,肉質軟嫩,而且帶著肉汁,夾雜著脂肪微微的散發出香滑,這道讓我吃得兩眼發直無法罷手。

吃過了肉眼牛扒,其實大家都差不多八、九分飽了。這時還來嘴角一口甜。

年輕的甜品師傅在我們面前熟練的製作出Nitrogen雪糕,師傅把氮氣加入肉桂味的配料中,在盤子內快速攪拌,十多秒把雪糕做好了!

再把即製液態氮雪糕放在已烤脆的蘋果撻上,配上青蘋果乾及香滑奶油,就成了「蘋果撻配即製肉桂雪糕」。

肉桂味雪糕跟蘋果撻很夾味,這個肉桂味不會太重,不愛肉桂味孩子也能輕易接受。甜度不高的雪糕跟烤得香脆的蘋果撻一併入口,沒有甜膩感,愛吃甜品的女生都能以一人之力把整個吃光。

還點了這裡拿獎的著名cocktail: MARKS MYERS。MARKS MYERS以調酒師MARKS MYERS的名字而命名,帶甜甜的,不難入口,是一款酒的濃度較重的cocktail。

另一款是外型花巧的Dirty Chocolate。

在這個很有氣氛的環境下吃以上的二人晚上套餐收費是HK$1,200 (另加10%服務費)。這餐吃得超飽!二人套餐的份量足夠三人同吃,或是四位食量很小的女生都一定會吃得飽飽而回。

用了個MARTINI玻璃杯盛著, 但最漂亮的還是那些很有藝術性地塗在杯身上的朱古力醬, 令本來單調的色彩增添多一份高貴氣質. 而內裡除了有SKYY VODKA, 亦加入了溶化了的奶油糖及主要就是BAILEY甜酒混在一起. 飲口有著香濃又豐厚的朱古力味, 但當然亦帶著點點酒香, 甜得來不會很刺激, 算是比較適合不能多喝酒又喜愛甜食的女生.

而這晚我們主要就是來試試AZURE的二人套餐, 有原隻蟹, 亦有足30安士肉眼扒及即製雪糕, 三道菜兩個人用只是HK$1,200. 單聽起來只有三道菜好像不算便宜, 不過如果再看看這裡上菜的份量, 包保會大嚇一跳!

這裡的牛油跟尖沙咀那家AVA一樣, 也有三款不同口味供應, 包括香草, 蕃茄跟黑松露味. 前兩款味道亦是一貫的味道香濃軟滑, 而黑松露味反而是首次品嚐, 未入口巳有著陣陣松露香, 引得不自覺兩三口就幹掉了整個麵包. 所以如果閣下胃口不大這裡還是淺嘗一點就好了, 否則上主菜時巳飽了就會很大獲.

頭盤就來一整隻凍蟹, 份量之大絕對夠二人享用! 蟹用了德格拉斯黃金蟹, 看看盛在蟹殼內那堆滿到差點漏出來的蟹黃, 混入了木犀草蒜香海鮮醬, 入口濃香得來又不會很膩, 鮮味不絕, 當然蟹腳亦夠粗壯, 吃起來啖啖肉, 蟹汁亦夠豐盛, 兩個人來分享對能過足蟹癮!!

如果不想吃凍冰冰的蟹, 選這個惹味帶辛的咖哩炒蟹就最適合不過了! 一大隻德格拉斯黃金蟹, 加入鮮茄, 辣椒, 薑, 青辣椒跟八角同炒, 出來的賣相帶點中泰式炒蟹的影子, 香氣滿溢. 大啖把粗壯的蟹腳放入口, 果然鮮味中帶著頗刺激的辣勁, 但濃稠的醬汁重重的包圍著整隻蟹, 眼看著大家本來由很斯文的還是用刀刀叉叉來切, 直到最後無不用手拿著蟹鉗大啖咬大口啜, 巳知美味得儀態也暫時要拋開一會兒了.

本來看著餐牌時, 一向大食的宅女還在擔心只有三道菜不夠飽, 要不要飯後去[溝貨]. 但當這個主菜上來的時候, 看來我之前的顧慮都是多餘的了! 一大條有骨肉眼扒足足有30安士, 只簡單的用上海鹽跟胡椒作調味拿去燒, 出來外層帶著微微的烤香, 但切開來中間仍是鮮嫩多汁的粉紅色肉!! 入口皮脆肉香, 肉質極盡軟嫩, 肉汁還緊緊的鎖在中間, 連著點點入口即化的脂肪, 每一口都令人回味無窮!!
不過這個以2個人來分的話也實在太多了, 就連宅女胃口那麼大, 最後我們也是兩女一男才可以把這巨扒清光光! 跟看隔壁那枱來慶生的兩位女生也點了同樣的套餐, 但最後努力了一半便放棄. 所以其實這個扒就算3-4人來分享也絕對沒問題!

只見這時甜品師傅推著小車子走出來, 看看車上的用具跟AVA看過的即製玫瑰花液態氮雪糕很相似呢! 一問之下原來這個蘋果撻上的雪糕也是用上液態氮的原理來即製的! 只是本來的玫瑰花巳換上了肉桂味, 跟蘋果撻更對味. 師傅熟練的把氮氣加入配料內攪了數秒馬上就把雪糕做好了!

雪糕放在烤得香脆的蘋果撻上, 賣相別緻, 不過記得必須要快點吃否則液態氮雪糕溶化的速度是非常的快! 把蘋果撻跟雪糕一併入口, 那份微暖帶酥化香脆的口感跟冰凍奶香的雪糕交錯著產生出一份更有層次感的化學作用, 再加入點點奶油, 吃起來更豐厚. 難得甜度不會很高, 此時就算非常飽但也能獨個兒把一整份清光光!
吃飽飽, 想再把酒談心吹吹風? 這裡頂層亦有一個空中花園, 走上來吸一吸新鮮空氣, 看看香港漂亮的夜景, 整個人的心情頓時鬆了不少. 畢竟, 這樣的霓虹晚景實在不是很多國家能有機會觀賞到的~ (頂層空中花園非每天開放, 請先向餐廳查詢)

感謝餐廳, 公關跟友人之邀令宅女過了一個輕鬆愉快的晚上!
二人套晚收費HK$1,200, 但份量之多兩個人要完全吃完真的有點難度. 食物味道整體也不錯的, 以這個環境, 收費來說的話, 性價比的確非常高. 而且這裡氣氛浪漫, 眼看餐廳當晚都有不少情侶來這裡慶祝或約會, 實在是個不錯的地方.
另外這裡逢周一至周五亦有半自助午餐, 每兩位收費只是HK$338, 除開每人只是百多元, 實在非常抵吃! 周末亦有BRUNCH由中午12點到3點, 每位成人只是HK$238, 小童HK$148, 以酒店來說實在是便宜得沒話說!

雖然待會的套餐內有蟹,但我們還是想一試這個蟹沙律。材料似曾相識,跟Ava的「蟹肉雙重奏」很相似呢,擺盤美得像幅畫,紅黃嫩綠,很有春天的氣息,未吃已感受到那份清新!碎蟹肉配上芒果粒、酸青瓜絲,中間還有球乳酪雪芭,冰凍降溫,感覺就像在吃鹹味的甜點!(這樣說正確嗎?哈哈)

King Prawn有著一堆聽起來很複雜的材料:大蝦配上芹菜根蛋黃醬、根菜大蝦薯餅 , 面頭還鋪上泡泡狀的黑松露忌廉汁。但這當中我最喜歡的是底下那塊薄薄的薯餅,它吸收了大蝦的鮮和各種汁料的滋味,就像扇貝底下的粉絲般,是精華所在呢。

有沒有人像我般,因為懶,所以不愛吃蟹?最近Facebook上個個人手一 (大閘) 蟹,但一想起要好花一輪功夫才能吃到那一點蟹肉,我就卻步了... 既然要拆,就弄隻大的!至少有多點肉可以吃嘛!這裡的三道菜晚餐有兩款頭盤可選,分別是熱辣辣的咖喱珍寶蟹和冰鎮珍寶蟹,我們人數夠多,一次過可以試兩款。

珍寶蟹雖說是二人份,但我相信四個人分來吃也可以呢!以鮮茄、辣椒、薑、青椒和八角去炒的咖喱珍寶蟹,微辣剛好合我口味,味道炒得入肉,醬料全滲進蟹肉內,甘香和辛辣俱備,沒想到於西餐廳也可以吃到這麼好吃的炒蟹呢!

另一款冰鎮珍寶蟹,是截然不同的味道,以木犀草蒜香海鮮醬混和蟹黃,弄成的濃稠醬汁,恰如其份地帶出蟹肉天然的鮮甜,再次覺得醬料真的很重要,沒錯凍蟹在家也可以吃到,但要調出層次豐富的醬汁,還是要有點功夫才能做到呢。

主菜上場,厚切肉眼牛扒!大家也實在忍不住「嘩」了出來... 900gm牛扒的威力真不能看少,我們旁邊一桌的兩位女生努力吃了好久,那牛扒還好像剛上檯般,毫無損傷的樣子。這個真的是二人份量嗎?請問那兩位是悟空和比達嗎?

那粉嫩的牛肉一直以色香味引誘著我,那混著油脂的肥美嫩肉在燈光下閃閃發亮,我終於明白男生遇上美女時的心情了!外脆內軟的口感也太棒了吧,輕咬兩口,被鎖起來的肉汁慢慢滲出來,不管卡路里了,多吃一塊再算吧!
連伴碟的粗身薯條都好好吃哦... 這道菜真的是減肥殺手

我叫Gnocchi做薯波波,它是用馬鈴薯造出來的小麵糰,咬起來煙煙韌韌的,非常彈牙。奶味濃牛油味香,每粒Gnocchi都被醬汁包著,入口還帶松露香,這鬼佬麵疙瘩真好吃!

跟餐的甜品明明寫著是蘋果撻,為什麼師父推著工具出來?
原來蘋果撻是配上即製氮氣雪糕的,又有表演可看了!製作過程同樣煙霧彌漫,冬天看這個,不免令人聯想起漫天白雪的情景呢。
跟平常的蘋果撻很不一樣,酥脆的撻底,上面灑滿甜度適中的牛油碎粒,有點像Apple Crumble的變奏版,配上那玻「新鮮即製」的肉桂雪糕,口感細膩動人。

這點份量的甜品,女士們不太夠喉呢。幸好另外還點了兩這道甜品,但論驚喜度卻比不上跟餐的蘋果撻。

被Ice Cream Bomb的誘人名字吸引了,賣相也相當有心思,切開雪糕球後內裡是滿滿的莓果,我建議把那緣茶雪糕換成雲尼拿味,相信會更討好。
朱古力三重奏,先吃口輕盈的白朱古力雪葩,再來一口帶點酒味的黑朱古力蛋糕,最後結尾是幼滑甜美的朱古力慕絲,三種不同的朱古力,合奏出完美的句號。

吃飽飯就來散散步吧。美女公關帶我們上了頂層的小花園,站在蘭桂坊的最高點,向下望是七彩璀璨的大樓燈光,微涼的風輕吹過臉旁,這刻滯意全消!
這個兩人(絕對吃不完)份量的三道菜晚餐,定價每兩位$1200,每日供。對很多人來說可能是偏高消費,但其實以這個份量,3-4人點一個晚餐來分,另加一兩道前菜/ 意粉,每人也不過是數百元。有點心動嗎?對喔我腦中正想著下個生日的好友是誰呢...

- smoked toro: freshhh and it just melted immediately lol a pretty good selection 
- grilled eggplant and cucumber: a bit overcooked, too soft and you can tell they're placed for some time since they're cold 
- penne with tuna salad: tuna was okay but the penne was a little undercooked 
- Thai style sour salad (turnips): totally freshened up by the sour sauce! Fav among all it just simply boosts your appetite

Desserts finally! Sweetness overloaded 

From top left to right: 
- marshmallow on chocolate mousse: the mousse was too sweet, but the marshmallow somehow balanced out the sweetness 
- panna cotta: not smooth enough but rich taste 
- toffee pudding: the best of all! Strong toffee taste but not too filling (:
- milk pudding: kind of like the panna cotta actually but rich milk 
- egg pudding: the small size just fits and it tasted as if you're eating a steamed egg! Another great choice of dessert

Azure Restaurant Slash Bar is located on the 29/F and 30/F of the Hotel LKF.

I was invited to Azure Restaurant Slash Bar to try out their weekend brunch menu. Enjoying an afternoon of culinary pleasures at Azure with their Weekend Brunch. For 'Appetiser', we choose from the Foie Gras or Seafood platter.
The Foie Gras is fantastic and very tasty. The Foie Gras is very fresh and it melts inside my mouth. The seafood platter comes with fresh oysters, prawns and crab legs.
For the main dishes, we pick from five selections. Out of five of them I would pick "Truffle Eggs Benedict", "Oeuf and Boeuf" and "Smoked Salmon Croque Madame". They are my favourite dishes from those on offer.
Truffle Eggs Benefict is a soft poached egg serve with truffle infused hollandaise sause. The dish looks good and attractive. The mixing of the egg yoke and the truffle sauce are amazing. This is British style I feel like I am sitting in London and enjoying this delicious egg benedict.
I would also recommend "Smoked Salmon Croque Madame" This is grilled cheese sandwich with smoked salmon and with chives cream cheese. There is also a fried egg on the top of the sandwich. I am a salmon lover. The salmon smells good and it mixes well with the grilled cheese. The cheese melts on the salmon and I can't wait to try it. The taste of the cheese is very strong and I love it. The fried egg and the salmon are well matched too.
"Oeuf and Boeuf" is a US flank steak, served with a sunny egg side up. The taste is amazing and goes down beautifully with a glass of red wine.
The dining environment and wonderful service in Azure Restaurant Slash bar truly adds value to the whole dining experience. Especially sitting in front of the full-height glass windows facing the HK Island view. I would definitely come back to this restaurant.
Weekend brunch is available every Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 3pm in Azure Resturant Slash Bar.

接下來,待應送上了麵包籃。籃中有三款麵包,分別是後面長的Grissini, 中間的mini baguette及最前的甜餐包。麵包只是微暖 (真的是很微),在座位上是能夠看到待應用自助餐的那一款烘麵包機翻暖,怪不得出來的麵包只有外面是微暖,芯是冷冷的。

至於,麵包的味道又如何呢?我只能說,三款也不合格!Grissini太過乾身,就像是嘉頓的麵包條一樣,外乾內乾;內脆外脆。至於baguette又如何,也是不新鮮,很乾身。甜餐包上一點點的是poppy seed,其實味道是okay的,跟港式西餐廳或茶記跟湯的餐包不無多讓。其實包不是自家製不出奇,不過新鮮是基本要求吧!

其實附跟麵包的三款flavoured butter不錯,分別用上松露油、乾番茄(sundried tomato)及香草調味,可惜麵包的質素差,令們4人全部作為麵包怪都停了手。 

麵包不好,只能寄望接下來的出品會好一點......

Carpaccio通常以生牛肉比較常見,坦白說,我也是第一次於餐牌上看見生鴕鳥肉“刺身“;是比較特別的一道菜。鴕鳥肉是一種很lean的肉,蛋白質高,熱量及脂肪也低,適合女士和瘦身一族。

說回這道菜,肉質跟牛肉是蠻似,簡單地用上香料和黑椒調味,味道有層次。伴碟有一點點份子料理的味道,配上balsamic fluid gel(意大利陳醋膏)、basil foam(羅勒泡沫)和olive oil powder(欖油粉末),三者是經典的配搭,balsamic fluid gel味道intense;basil foam很淡,加上用上foam的形式present,是沒有口感可言;至於oliver oil powder,不說也嚐不出來,怪怪的,不吸引,和basil foam一樣是可有可無。

就實話,我不反對份子料理,但假設對食物的味道沒有幫助,減去吧!不單止多此一舉,還令整道菜式扣分。

這是我細佬點選的菜式,以reconstruction的方式重新塑造出經典的凱撒沙律,用上弧形的parmesan cheese crisp包圍着羅馬生菜、車厘茄、麵包粒和煙肉,再擺上parmesan cheese shavings。

我只試了外圍的parmesan chip,不知是放久了或是儲存不當的原故,一點也不脆,‘吸濕’後煙煙軔軔,很不討好。細佬對此評價也很一般。

母親和弟弟都點了龍蝦扁意粉,我也有嚐了數口。混入了濃郁的龍蝦汁,帶蕃茄的味道,是不錯的!linguine煮到al dente,有咬口(to the bite),合格。至於龍蝦方面,呈細粒狀,龍蝦有點 mushy(糊口),是龍蝦不太新鮮和煮過長所致。意粉上有火箭葉,感覺輕怡一點,亦令整道菜層次更加多元。

這是妹妹的主菜,送來的時候我有一點困惑,因為menu上是寫着"Duck Magret confit",我對duck confit的理解是duck leg confit(油浸鴨腿),送上來的卻是鴨胸。(如我有錯,麻煩各食家更正,感激)

沒關係,鴨胸沒問題,可惜處理卻是強差人意。 鴨胸的肉質很「」,失去了野味的味道(gamey flavour),是煮過火的表演。鴨胸的皮也沒有好好的render(就是把油脂煮出來的意思),令鴨胸皮不脆之餘,還有一種油膩感,不討好。

至於春卷,不太吃得出鴨肝,只有很膩的感覺,用上了菠蘿和梅來平衡,味道算是可以,不過也無助整體的分數,畢竟春卷和鴨胸處理也不合格,讓人失望。

Dessert (不打分也罷!)

經歷過令人失望的頭盤及主菜後,來到了甜品的環節。不出所料,也是十分失色!

我點了chocolate trio,是強差人意的。 碟上三者(聲稱是)Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate and Amaretto Terrine served with White Chocolate。結果是比聽下去差很多,很多...... 三款味道非常不清晰,左手邊的那一件,中間魚膠狀的一層還有冰冰的感覺,還未好好的defrost,很明顯是不能接受吧!中間的amaretto terrine完全沒有amaretto的味道,朱古力的處理也很差;至於white chocolate ice cream,可以清楚吃到(和見到)一塊塊的冰塊,很不細滑,像是granita一樣,很差!

同行的三位各自對自已的甜品都十分失望,我在此無謂多批評,有興趣的朋友可以於餐廳的其他食評找到一點啟事吧!

甜品作為一頓飯的最後一個環節,其實對餐廳的印象有舉足輕重的作用,此店的甜品差勁,是我不得不給矛「喊臉」的理由。離開餐廳其實滿肚子氣,做了點research,驚見此餐廳在Hong Kong Restaurant Week得到Best Hotel Restaurant of the Week的殊榮...... 心想,不是吧?那不是說明其他餐廳還能更差嗎!

上了餐廳的facebook page看了一看,發現所見的chocolate trio跟我吃到的完全不同,是偷工減料嗎?總括來說,食物的構思不錯,能夠從當初點菜的期待所證明,不過出品的質素確是令人失望。份子料理的徒勞無功,caesar salad和鴨 reconstruction的失敗,加上造作但毫無美感的presentation,給矛「無果樣,搞果樣」的感覺。

此店以環境作招徠成功,是不用質疑的,餐廳服務亦合格,不過假設食物質素這麼差,或許最多只能是一家成功的酒吧。

甜點又怎可以沒有朱古力?朱古力Brownies,薄薄的一層Ganache蓋在濕潤厚實的巧克力蛋糕上,這款Brownies的果仁不是混在蛋糕中,而是放在蛋糕面,合桃和杏仁除了提高香氣,還替蛋糕加添了一份口感,朱古力味滲進味蕾的感覺真是幸褔。

把Macaron留到最後,是因為這鮮粉紅色的小圓餅太嬌豔欲滴,教人不忍心吃掉。中間的杏仁夾心味道相當突出,淡淡士多啤梨味來得自然不人工,餅皮跟內餡配搭得剛好,整體來說不會太甜。個人覺得那外皮略為軟淋了些,如果再焗得硬一點、脆一點會更完美。

前文提過可以無限添飲的咖啡和茶,除了Ronnefeldt的各款茶,咖啡也是illy的,兩者成本都不低呢。吃飽了想來點消膩的,所以點了Strawberry with Yogurt,熱茶以銀色茶壺呈上,緩緩倒出,空氣中頓時果香四溢,連旁邊的友人也忍不住回頭!打開蓋,果真可看到粒粒果肉碎,喝起來除了新鮮士多啤梨味外還帶點乳酪味,酸酸甜甜的,和它橙紅色的外表一樣,活潑跳脫,像能替身體注入能量,喝完真的感覺精神了!

另外還試了Azure的Winning cocktail - Marks Myres。用上Myers Dark Rum, Midori, Creme de Fraise & Skyy vodka,配上一點fresh ginger和strawberries果肉,酒味重但不覺苦澀,濃烈但不嗆喉,我會推薦這個給喜愛酒味重一點的男生,女生們應該會選甜一點的Cocktail吧。

在中環這地段,這個價錢和質素實在相當令人滿意,加上這裡可以預先電話預約,不用怕臨時walk-in要和朋友一起呆等的尷尬。讓我選個日子,再約一班姊妹淘來這裡一聚。

甜品時間,由淡味的開始,室溫的提子鬆餅口味一般,應保持一點暖度去減少偏乾實口感,慶幸內藏提子十分多,鬆餅中心部份也濕度不夠,故沒有令人留下深刻印象,雖然是迷你版,還是附設傳統果醬和Clotted Cream比較恰當。

它擁有濃郁芝士味道,質地不乾實,在軟綿中透些濕潤,也沒有出現太甜現象,頂頭的桑莓果醬有助減輕飽滯感,唯一不足是餅底過濕與鬆散,也許是下的牛油過多所致。

馬卡龍嬌麗粉紅,奪目非常,個子飽滿亮光,但不太察覺士多啤梨的味道,外殼很薄帶微微鬆脆的,其實可以做得再挺身些,內層質地濕潤但欠缺煙韌,杏仁餡料豐富,建議可以減少份量。

筆者揀選了女孩子多會喜愛的Vanilla Rose,在濃濃甜美雲呢拿香氣中滲出幽幽玫瑰花香,是優雅和精緻的香氣,在下午或飯後喝一杯,絕對是完美的浪漫。

也試過友人的peach garden,喝一口微酸的,包含了珍貴bourbon雲呢拿與溫和而甜美的桃香,滿咀清新芬芳。

,是朋友選擇的得獎作品,Myers dark rum, midori, creme de fraise, skyy vodka與混和薑和士多啤梨汁。以martini杯呈上的Marks Myers無論外貌與金黃色澤均令人心醉,唯酒味很重果香薄弱,並非筆者心水口味,倒應是男士們的心頭好。

*下午茶內容包括鹹和甜點,應可同時滿足男女生喜好,款式傳統精緻、水準穩紮,在同區內以268元兩位的價格享用著酒店級環境與服務,還有無限添飲各式香茶和咖啡尚屬難得。(這次評分偏重於價格、服務與環境)

加上茶聚目的就是與友人寫意相聚,談笑風生,如今在繁鬧的中環能找著旺中帶靜的用餐之處,邊吃點心邊欣賞沿途景觀,是奢侈也幸福的事,筆者已認定這裡為朋友們的隱蔽聚腳點!

喝罷下午茶又可以返回熙來攘往的購物圈展開血拼行動又或是帶備單反相機拍下金融大廈與老舖在鏡頭下的強烈對比。

牛扒又薄又韌,所謂春雞是無味的,魚柳又腥賣相又非常快餐 feel,三者的級數與「大x樂」有得揮,令人非常趺眼鏡!
最後甜品部分,倒也是不遜,款式約有十款,芒果杯、朱古力蛋糕、藍莓芝士餅都不錯吃。

Just like most restaurants did for Restaurant Week, they have prepared a specific lunch or dinner menu for us. Ironically, the dishes involved were more or less the same ones we had here 7 years ago. How crazy was that!?

We started with a pan seared foie gras served on a home-made brioche with truffle and sherry soaked raisin velouté. It was a very small slice of foie gras and for a moment, we thought it was our amuse bouche!

In all honesty, the foie gras actually tasted pretty good. It was seared almost perfectly to a point where it melted in our mouth. The raisin velouté provided some good complements to the overall taste as well but the size was really embarrassing.

Like the pan seared foie gras, I had the lobster linguini last time around too.

As the menu suggested, it was an "al dente" linguini with a lobster bisque cream sauce, parmesan cheese and rocket lettuce. The lobster bisque was very thick and flavorful, giving the linguini a great deal of depth and flavors. This was a very enjoyable dish.

The "re-designed" roasted duck was really nothing new. It was a duck course served in two ways - first, as a duck confit and it came with two spring rolls of duck meat, foie gras and pineapple. It was finished with a plum foam and cucumber sweet relish.

The word "re-designed" suggested something far more innovative and unique but serving duck in a spring roll was nothing out of the ordinary. In fact we just had a similar dish 2 weeks ago at MC Kitchen (by Demon Chef Alvin Leung) that tasted much better.

I suggest they start looking for a new pastry chef because other than the petite four, the presentation of the two desserts didn't look professional at all.

Our first dessert was a black and white sesame crème brûlée served with mixed berries. I must confess that the crème brûlée did not taste badly but the presentation was way off!
How could they use two "soy sauce" dishes from Chinese restaurants for their crème brûlée?

The second dessert was a trio of chocolate desserts consisting of milk chocolate, dark chocolate and amaretto terrine, served with a spoon of white chocolate. While the first two components of this dish were average at best, the latter which was a spoon of white chocolate hugely disappointed me. I think it tasted more like a frosty coconut sorbet which has just melted and it tasted awful.

I always try to dine out on restaurant week to check out some restaurants I've never been to. This time, I decided to pick Azure because the menu seems appetizing and I heard the view is nice. The dining room is located on the top of of lkf hotel and the dining area is spacious with lots of natural sunlight. It's great for a sunny lunch.

Since we already looked at the menu before hand, we quickly told the waiter what we wanted. Then we sat there for atleast 15 minutes and nobody came back to serve us water or asked us what we want to drink. I finally couldn't wait anymore so I asked for water. After another 15 minutes they finally gave us a bread basket. The breads were lightly warm but none of them were good because they are too chewy and seems like it's been over heated.

Pan Seared foie gras: home-made brioche with a truffle and sherry soaked raisin veloute.
This dish was very well put together starting from the presentation to the taste. The foie gras was lightly seared so the outside was crispy and the inside was soft. It worked perfectly with the sweet sherry sauce on top to balance out the strong foie gras taste. The brioche on the bottom was also hot and crispy.

Lobster Linguini: Al dente Linguini with a lobster bique cream sauce & parmesan cheese, topped with Rocket lettuce
This entree was very delicious. There were chunks of lobsters mixed in to the linguini and the pasta was perfectly cooked to al dente. The star of the dish must've been the sauce that they tossed everything in. It's creamy and rich lobster bisque flavor but not too buttery where you get sick of it. It also comes in a good portion but since it was so good, I had no problem finishing it.

Chocolate trio: Milk chocolate, Dark chocolate, & amaretto terrin. Served with white chocolate. I'm a dessert freak, and this place makes the desserts sound better than they actually are. The very far left is a piece of chocolate like cake with a layer of chocolate flavored gelatin. This piece was not too sweet but I thought the textures didnt all work well together as a whole. The center piece was just a chocolate mousse like cake rolled up in white chocolate cream. This was my least favorite because it was too sweet and lack any kind of interesting factors to it. It tasted like something I can buy at a local chinese bakery. The ice cream on the right was supposed to be a white chocolate ice cream im assuming. But the texture was more like a gelato and it was way too icy and lacked flavors and texture as well.

Black & White Sesame Creme brulee: Served with mixed berries and almond tuile.
This dessert comes with two dishes of creme brulee. One was just a classic flavor and the other with sesame added in. I guess the sesame one was interesting because I've never had creme brulee with a asian twist. But the almond tuile in the middle was horrible since it was stale and wasn't crispy. We ended up not finishing the desserts.

Lastly, we were served a cup of cappuccino and petit fours and they were both disappointments. I usually like to drink my cappuccino without sugar, but this cappuccino was so bitter that I had to add some sugar to even take a couple of sips. Then the petit fours were just pieces of dark chocolate and some cream puffs that were not attractive nor did they taste good. Sadly to say, desserts were a total disappointment. But I enjoyed the appetizer and the entree very much. Also, service can be a little bit more attentive here.

I was invited to Azure Restaurant Slash Bar to try out their August Menu. In August, the set menu's theme is "Classic Meets Modern", where chefs apply their out of the box imagination and culinary skills to make some twists on several traditional dishes to challenge their guests' taste bud! Before I go deep with the courses, lets check their bread baskets and amuse bouche out.

Taco Crisps with Sour Cream and Guacamole
First complimentary snack of the night was this taco crisps with sour cream and guacamole dip. The guacamole was not flavourful enough, there was not any cilantro taste in it. The sour cream on the other hand was quite nice.

Bread Basket with Trio Butter
A kind of Azure & AVA Restaurant Slash Bar's signature was the trio butter (P.S. make up name). This trio butter consists of layers of original butter, carrot and pesto flavoured butter. Each layer was very distinctive in taste but compliment each other as well. The house bread and grissini were served warm but as mentioned in my previous review, they were not spectacular.

August Menu - "Classic Meets Modern"

"Polar" Capresse Salad
The most interesting dish I found tonight was this Polar Capresse Salad. It is named "Polar" because Azure used mozzarella Ice-cream instead of fresh mozzarella cheese. This ice cream was quite icy and sweet with a subtle taste of mozzarella. Both of the red and yellow tomatoes are fresh but not sweet enough, I don't feel like they were confit at all. The crispy crisps at the side were very interesting, but was bland in taste. It was later explained by Chef that it was made with Sago with Basil purée. It was quite a refreshing and modernised appetiser!

"Col-i-FloWer" Soup and Chorizo
I have always love restaurants that present your soup by pouring it into your plate in front of you, everything looks more mysterious and exciting that way. On the plate was some chorizo bits and a chorizo "ravioli" as the chef put it. The chorizo ravioli is a molecular creation by Chef Eric (and/or Chef Roger), the chorizo was liquified and made into a jello like substance. The jello had a texture like caramelised onion but tasted like chorizo. While preparing the "ravioli", the chorizo essence got melted in the middle, so the instance you broke the ravioli, you will see a flow of yellowish chorizo oil bursting out.

The soup actually tasted a bit overly intense to me, the chorizo kind of overpowered the cauliflower taste. I guess I was expecting something a light and creamy texture from cauliflower soup.

"Naked" Salmon Coulibiac
A beautifully presented and generous portion main of the night, was a break down of the classic Salmon Coulibiac. Instead of having the salmon and spinach wrapped within the puff pasty, the whole dish was broken down, and plated separately. The salmon was sous vide, so the texture was very smooth and juicy, which is a texture the classic Salmon Coulibiac could not achieve. The streamed egg was mixed with corn purée (and milk probably). It tasted very nice with a smooth and baby food like texture. Again, a very interesting twist and a fun experience.

Tiramisu "The Beginning"
The de-constructed tiramisu was probably my most anticipated dish of the night. The mascarpone cheese was made icy, kind of ice-cream like. There was explosive candies scattered all over the dessert. The brown cream had a strong taste of coffee and a weak taste of alcohol in it (could not tell what alcohol it used). The brown spot at the top corner was hazel nut sauce. I have never seen tiramisu made in this way, but it tasted good, so whatever its named

Apart from the August Menu, I also tried some cocktails tonight. Award winning cocktail Marks Myers was a quite a strong mix with Myers dark rum, Midori, Crème de Fraise & Skyy vodka muddles with fresh ginger and strawberries, shaken with ice. The Apple Lemon Tart was an equally strong but sweeter cocktail, a mix with Skyy vodka with apfel specht apple liqueur, fresh lemon and apple juice.

Azure Restaurant Slash Bar's August set menu "Classic Meets Modern" definitely wow me with their way of presenting the classic dishes. It is quite difficult to decide if I like the classic or thie modern way of presentation, they each have their special characteristics. Yet I would say if you are looking for something special, come to Azure to try out this menu before its too late!
