平日對豬肋骨又愛又恨,不是骨多於肉,就是吃得有點費力, 但這個醬燒豬肋骨$128,是精選幼豬背骨,骨肉易分離,加上香濃帶點微辣的燒烤醬汁,以核桃木煙薰至入味,好惹味。

最後,當然是甜品啦﹗以 Raspberry Swirl Cheesecake $88作結, 聽到cheesecake 其實有點怕, 怕是厚實的紐約cheesecake, 原來是像慕絲般軟滑的質感, 不太甜, 加上朱古力餅碎的餅底,與酸甜莓醬, 一點也不漏。

友人感情失意,一班兄弟當然要約出來揶揄一番,好在傷口撒上大把大把的粗粒海鹽再在傷口上磨細(大誤)。舊同事相約,瓊漿玉液用任何安慰都有用,至少我仍不明白為什麼有人在別人失意傷心時,還殘忍地逼供要他們邊流淚邊再把傷心舊事反芻細味,除非你對滿足自己的好奇心大於對朋友的同情,這一次我選擇了在中環和安里的Common Room。

和安里就在蘭桂坊附近,一條永遠左閃右避才能走過的斜玻後,轉角即至。在那幾乎盡頭的地方,拾級而上,便會到達門前。整體的氣氛予人抹卻肩上凡塵的輕鬆感,用餐區用上了簡約的工業風,低垂的吊燈,意外地在這種Social Dinner或者Fine Dinner的格局囁嚅斟酌,而露天用餐區是能夠吸煙的地方,其中一位友人當然大樂,一門之隔,露天用餐區則用上舊船木板的磚牆砌成,燈光昏暗下,坐在沙發上的朋友們更加心無窒礙。

紅椒粉幾乎是西班牙國寶般的存在,Paprika無論配上海鮮或肉類都如此出眾。自杜如風介紹了日本表參道的龍蝦包後,好像馬上掀起了一番狂熱。朋友馬上叫上了一道,$158元一只龍蝦,賣相亦吸引,不過包身略窄,龍蝦肉應該沒有用上一整只的模樣,五個人分,一人一口快速秒掉。

龍蝦肉很足而且鮮甜,但蛋黃醬的味道微微偏厚,有點蓋過了肉味,這只美中不足的,餐廳專做龍蝦包,有時會把自家製的醬料調較得淡薄一點,才適宜用在龍蝦包上,但對一間Gastropub來說,又實在太難了。

希臘的Tzatziki沙律因為Tzatziki醬汁而聞名,其主要成份大約為黃瓜或青瓜、蒜蓉和沙律醬。羊肉丸不同牛肉丸,單只牛肉質地會十分粗糙,所以會混上一定份量的豬肉,但羊肉丸通常是只用羊丸糜和麵包糠就能弄上一道美味菜色。Tzatziki配上香草是用來辟腥的,蕃茄醬汁亦有輕微辣味,肉質咬勁剛好,內裹再配有些許黑椒,合格。

我反而不太喜歡這道Pealla,比起Pealla,Risotto這叫法好像更為合適,份量亦比想像中的少,Arborio這種短身米飯來自意大利幾乎就是Risotto的米飯,而且吃下去完全是悶煮的味道,雖然不能和最少三四百元的Pealla相比,但墨汁做得的確出聚,温馥醇厚,而且無過膩感,有時在酒精的陪襯下,太注重味道也是一種自討的苦吃。

這裹的啤酒並沒有顯示在餐單上,當我們還在讚嘆不已食物的價錢,結帳那刻馬上體會到餐廳是如何賺錢的,一杯啤酒的定價確是太高了些,雖聽聞這裹的雪條Cocktail非常特別,但男生的浪漫永遠都是啤酒,豪邁地乾掉,瞇起眼呀一聲的怪叫,是我們對啤酒最尚高的敬意。

小吃在西班牙叫TAPAS,意大利叫CICCHETTI,多國菜我很難去斷定該如何稱呼。Common Room的小食在性價比上非常高,酒精類稍貴但取個平衡依然異常吸引,中環的這個角落,很舒服,很舒快,像最簡單的字詞,最好看一樣,像最好的佳餚,不需要太多雕蘭玉砌。

哈,以莓作為主角,去做這個芝士蛋糕。中和了芝士的漏,加了一點的酸,令到這個甜品,變得更夏日,更令大眾所喜歡。餅底是曲奇底,做得鬆化一點,少了硬度,令人一試愛上。

We ordered a glass of their signature cocktails with ice lolly. Some gingers were added into the mango favour ice lolly which was suprisingly matched. A friend of mine would like to order a Sangria which was out of their menu. The waitress asked the bar tender to make one and they put a lot of honey and sugar syrup inside that made it taste too sweet! However, they also put a cinnemon stick inside which made the taste a bit special. The overall presentation for the drinks were pretty nice, but the price is a bit marked up for drinks.

On the contrary, food price were not high and their presentaiton were also creative! We ordered a Sweet Potatoe Fries, Lobster Lingunie, Chicken Lollipop, Sole Fillet and a Fried Ice Cream on flame! Every dishes tasted good except the Chicken Lollipop tasted spoiled. The restaurant manger helped us to change it with a not bad attitude. At least we did not feel uncomfortable.

Satisfied service.

真的最後了,來一個壓軸好戲,就是Cryo-Fried Vanilla Ice-cream。侍應已準備好表演,蛋糕球迅速變成火球,很美豔的藍火,令人陶醉其中。待火熄卻後,侍應隨即淋上紅桑子汁,又即時變成紅球,色彩變化萬千,有了視覺的享受。不要以為只是欣賞性質,其實味道都不俗的。

淋上果醬,整個火焰雪糕球就禮成了,味道同食用的感覺的確有如食用雪糕蛋糕的一般。雪糕在中心,味道creamy,蛋糕在周邊,配合了果醬,再加有少少揮發過的酒香,如果十個讚是滿分的話,這 Cryo-Fried Vanilla Ice Cream,我一定會俾十個讚。

入夜後的中環,要找個地方飲酒並不是難事,但夜蒲之前都要先吃晩餐的,我就偏向找一些較靜的地方吃飯,然後才去飲酒。於蘭桂坊附近就有一條巷仔叫和安里,比起寸步之隔的老蘭,這巷仔夜晚仍顯得較為寧靜,行至盡頭,就會見到一間叫Commom Room的餐廳酒吧,低調地座落在夜蒲區的一角。餐廳內在燈光暗黃,給我一種古樸的味道,有少少懷舊工業風的感覺。說是餐廳,其實像酒吧多一點,我們大約七時來吃晚餐,人流並不多,據店員說,十時半後才是這店的高峰期,很多客人都貪其位置較僻靜,私隱度相對來說較高。既然是餐廳酒吧,來到當然就要飲酒啦,這店推出了五款夏天Boozesicles雞尾酒,每款除了飲得外,仲食得,皆因伴隨著雞尾酒的是不同口味的雪條,繼有薄荷朱古力、芒果、香橙、士多啤梨、西瓜等。我就揀了以上的Chocolate Factory ($60),酒的成份有Vodka、Bailey’s、朱古力奶、曲奇糖漿,而雪條是薄荷朱古力加Whisky,感覺甜美得並不會太漏,朱古力和酒味調和得恰好,夏天的黃昏來到,一邊吃雪條一邊喝甜酒,感覺很涼快!炎夏的胃口不太好,這晚點了的菜都比較輕巧的,份量也不大,先吃一些沙律和前菜。K

炎夏的胃口不太好,這晚點了的菜都比較輕巧的,份量也不大,先吃一些沙律和前菜。

炒好的雪糕先倒上點著火的酒,形成火燄效果,怒火中燒後,再淋上糖漿,感覺血淋淋似的,可觀性好高,而內在亦保持軟綿綿,但雪糕沒有熔化掉,確實做到色香味存的效果。

這低調酒吧餐廳,適合傾偈和聚會的,又適合輕食,看來我以後在中環又多個蒲點了。

個人覺得啊, 真杯雞尾酒真的很適合drinking section時飲。但如果是一邊用餐一邊飲, 就會似我般吃得有點狼狽: 究竟是飲雞尾酒好、還是吃雪條好、還是吃食物好呢?! 好苦惱! 只好在吃正餐前先把雪條吃掉啦。

大家應該很清楚我是一個不折不扣的牛舌愛好者。但平時吃牛舌, 多是在燒烤店, 或是在吃港式焗飯的時候。做成越南米紙卷真的很新穎。米紙卷之內除了切條的牛舌之外, 也有大量的蔬菜絲和香葉, 味道來得清香, 牛舌之味倒成了配角。若是沾上一旁的酸辣醬, 就顯得更開胃了。這道很適合想初嚐牛舌卻有點猶豫的人: 眼不見為淨, 吃下了, 嚐了鮮, 就從此愛上。

也是這一道菜讓我恍然大悟: 看上去很「西」的common room, 提供的菜色並不單一, 更有fusion的影子呢!

這個Clam toast 因為真的太好吃了所以要放兩張照片。只是看樣子的話心中是不以為意, 還嫌棄它怎麼那麼大塊一點都不精緻。一口咬下了才心中大喊「怎麼會這麼好吃!」很難去形容那驚艷的感覺, 本來就沒想過要把蜆肉和多士放在一起, 出來的味道不是鮮甜而是香, 非常的震驚。兩下就吃完了手上的多士, 思想也呼的一下變了, 再也不嫌它不精緻了, 只想再多吃一塊!

甜品選擇只有4個, 但吃得太飽的我們真的無力掃Menu了, 但還是很貪心的點了三個 - 落選的chocolate pudding 看似太膩又猜想和date pudding相似, 只好忍痛放棄。Sticky Date Pudding 甜甜糯糯的, 口感濕潤, 溫熱的pudding 配冰凍雪糕, 好吃。野莓芝士蛋糕也不錯, 芝士蛋糕的部分很輕盈軟滑, 不過餅底就嫌太厚身也太乾, 有進步的空間。

但說到最百厭好玩的自然是火焰雪糕。淋上點了火的酒, 見到火焰窜得高高的, 視覺效果真的很好。最後淋上野莓汁, 就可以開動了。外殼比想像中要好吃, 軟軟的微暖的, 似是烤麵包。味道令人想起小時候吃的雪糕蛋糕。

中環的酒吧雖然多, 但多數氣氛熱鬧。若想找能傾計的「清靜」酒吧, common room是不二之選。如其名, 是一個很relax的小空間, 東西也好吃, 又有驚喜, 是不是很棒呢。

A la carte menu in Common Room, stands between fine-dining and small bites concept. Separated by Earth/ Sea/ Land and Heaven. Started with seafood and veggies in Vietnam, Spanish and French style. Big bite of Rice Rolls with the refreshing veggie slices inside; another big bite, which is the recommended dish from me, has the garlic toast on top with clam cooked with white wine.

Seared Foie Gras $148

There is a little 'argument' upon the paella, personally, I consider it more like risotto. Cooked with Arborio rice, clam, blue mussels and red shrimps, it is definitely a seafood feast. The soften and moisture taste overall is very much in the paella style but the rice is cooked similar to the feeling of risotto instead, which is the interesting experience to all of us.

The highly recommended cheesecake is not in the NY style nor Italian way, but Japanese concept. The cheese top tastes like ice-cream giving a mild cheesy flavor and berry-like refreshment.

Cryo-Fried Vanilla Ice Cream $85

It's a blue-fire show of Brandy and ice-cream! After the first round fire-show, a scent of caramel-like started to dilute the sweet air in the restaurant; after the second round, another cup of raspberry sauce is pulled over the huge ice-cream ball on the top, giving the bloody-marry looking


I love the fried flour-like skin outside the vanilla ice-cream! A slightly firm and elastic texture with the little 'eggy-butter' sweet, warm-warm taste, standing on the opposite side of the melting ice-cream.

I ordered the Whiskey Snapper with the Strawberry Haze. The popsicle was fruity, which made the drink really refreshing when I stirred it in yet not so sweet like other cocktails you normally get.

I like my greens but I wont describe myself as a salad person because I probably can not survive without meat and carbs. Therefore when hearing about this Kale & Pomegranate Salad, I did not appear to be particularly interested until I actually had a mouthful of it! Honestly I don't really think kale has anything so special that distinct itself from the other salad leaves, but I really like it with the juicy pomegranate and the crispy bacon bits. What made it even better? Cheeeeeese!

This Lobster Mac n' Cheese was gorgeous. The sauce was really creamy and has got the lobster flavour in it as well, totally coating the macaroni. The small bites of fresh buffalo mozzarella was milky and slightly chewy. It was definitely my favourite dish of all.

Squid Ink Paella was surprisingly outstanding as well! The amount of squid ink was just right, not overly sticky but enough to give the flavour. It had lots of squid, mussels, shrimps in it as well. I loved it.

Never having been a really dessert person, I must admit Sitcky Toffee Pudding is something I can never resist. It was something that my host mother would make after a Sunday Roast and everyone would just ask for more even we knew how much butter, cream and sugar went into it. The Sticky Toffee served here did not disappoint. The warm cake was perfectly spongy, soaked with the indulging toffee sauce and was served with a scope of creamy vanilla. It's definitely one of the best in town and you just never get enough of it!

The Raspberry Swirl Cheesecake was way heartier than what I expected. I like how they left the creamy cheese layer a slightly salty note. The oreo was beautifully crunchy and rich as well and not at all lumpy.

I love the idea of a common room. While I was studying in secondary school in the UK, we had this huge common room for six formers to gather. I mean it was just sooooooo cooool because it's like a priviledge exclusively to the seniors. We had pool tables and sofas with in the room, and windows where you get to look out to the endless green field. It was a platform for gossips, laughters, chills and over-flowing love. Now I am back in HK, working, and have understood true friendships do not come easily. While work is always tough and things never turn out as planned, we are still delightful to have a place where we can share and throw away our sorrows, be recharged once again, and join our hands to face the reality together.
